No state in Nigeria has their transport system as organised as Lagos. None.

In most of the cities in your region, the last mile transport system has collapsed and has been handed over to tricycles and motorcycles.

Some of those NURTW guys you see are police informants. Without them, the state will be like Abuja where one-chance robbery has taken over. Or, the SE where Sienna drivers carry passengers in the mornings and UGM at night.

The NURTW is not perfect, can be made better, but they are not the ones dropping you from improving the transport systems in states outside Lagos.

Putting Lagos and organized transport in the same sentence is an oxymoron.

Simply shows you have t really travelled across the country. You should keep quiet on matters like this.

In Nigeria, producing a tonne of cement requires at least 105KwH of electricity, contributing to 40-50% of cement production costs. Due to insufficient national grid capacity, cement manufacturers must use natural gas to build their own power plants. Distribution costs also increase due to using diesel-powered trucks for transporting raw materials.

The unit fuel cost for cement production in Nigeria is estimated at $30 per tonne, which is costly compared to China—the world's biggest cement producer—at $6 per tonne. For context, in 2023, Dangote, Lafarge, and BUA spent ₦598.137 billion on fuel and power, a 42.45% increase from 2022.

To correct my error,
Cost of sales itself is roughly 46% of revenue (since gross margin is ~54%). So fuel and power as a proportion of total revenue is roughly ~20% of revenue.

Even if fuel costs doubled to N2,000 per litre it would only add about 20% to the cost base, not 20% to the final price because Dangote's cost base is less than half its revenue.


A 50% surge in fuel costs would translate to roughly a 10% increase in the cost to produce, which on a 54% gross margin could be absorbed without any price increase, let alone an abrupt one.

I'm talking data here. Dangote can absorb a 20% temporary increase in fuel price (not to mention that cost of NEPA light which he also uses in his factory is stable.) without increasing cement prices immediately!

But I actually expect this from you. Your strong belief is that increase in price will solve all Nigeria's problems. For a country that about 95% of individuals have less than N500,000 in their account, your mindset is not wise.

Then transport costs...remember that diesel has been higher than petrol since 2015 at least...much higher. Diesel would also have shot up with the recent increases (that's why government is not doing well by not being more aggresive on railways)

You're wrong.

Energy cost account for just about 1% of cement factories total cost of production. Other cists such as personnel and raw materials take the bigger chuck. And those other costs are quite stable and do not require constant price increase. Last year, Dangote Cement company's EBITDA margin was about 50% and tax has stayed the same at 30% not even to mention that Dangote is one of the major beneficiaries of tax holidays.

On transportation, Dangote now uses CNG trucks.

Dangote is just exploiting Nigeria. That's one of the downsides of monopoly. It's a shame Nigerians are defending it ( Worst off is you always defending price increments).

If you listen to him, you will discover he never said that. It was a long speech. Just after talking about electricity, he then talk about he should not be re-elected if he doesn't keep his promise. And he put a Caveat except he gives adequate reason why he couldn't deliver.

That clearly shows he was not just talking about electricity , he was talking about all the promises he has made during the campaign. This promises include, subsidy removal, Exchange rate unification, students loan, stop of ASUU strike, electricity, etc.

It was a general statement with a logical Caveat.
I was surprised Seun of Channels TV was asking Reno Omokri same question without understanding the statement. That was shallow of Seun of Channels TV in my opinion .

You will discover At 22nd minute of the video, talked about solution to monetary policy. At the 24th minute he talked about health care. At the 26th minute he talked about oil and gas and mining. At same 26th minute he talked about electricity. At the 27th minute then he said if he doesn't keep his promise, they should not vote for him. Except he gives adequate reason convincing enough. After watching the video prior to now, I re-watched just to ensure I have an unbiased view and what I will say is that a nut has removed from your brain.

He said "by all means necessary, you must have electricity" don't we have electricity before? Of course we do. His speech just implies uninterrupted power supply.

And then he went ahead to say, "a promise made must be a promise kept"

This is after he had made a promise of constant light.

The he immediately said that if he doesn't keep the promise, when he comes back for second term, we shouldn't vote him.

Simple talk. You might be a supporter of APC but there are some things you just keep quiet about; Some things you don't try to defend.
