Link: http://odili.net/news/source/2006/oct/10/814.html

This link justifies my paragraph on seperating the interests of the Niger Delta people from those of the militants, That's the immediate way to end the conflict temporarily, developing the Niger Delta to ease conflict can not work because reforms and projects can not be embarked upon under such occurennces, the militants must be disarmed maybe by force or by plea or by bribe or by trades but anyhoes they must be disarmed wink

Agwai had queried: ‘“Were they not carrying weapons? Were they supposed to carry weapons? Are they authorised? Are they constitutionally given right to carry weapons? These are the questions we have to ask ourselves. In this country, all of us have grievances. Is the only way we can address our grievances to carry weapons and fight?”

JosBoy4Lif:
dblock could you be more descriptive?
The fellow members before have already listed some like;
"Iif Brazil played Nigeria at Abuja"
some of my annomalies would be, for instance in a scenario where a team is been punished for the poor behaviour of their fans and they have to play one or two games with none of their fans (that's happened before, can't remember where i think the seria A)
Another annomaly would be if instead of motivation from the fans the players start to boo one or two players because of unsatisfactory perfomances their are so many combinations and possibilities but i think overall any coach on earth wether it be the seria A or the Premier league or an international match, would prefer to play at home rather than away

Nigeria: Okada Ban Reduces Accidents On Abuja Roads, Says FRSC

Daily Trust (Abuja)

October 10, 2006
Posted to the web October 10, 2006

Abubakar Yakubu

The Federal Road Safety Commission {FRSC) has said that the rate of accidents in the city of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have reduced due to the ban of commercial motorcyclists last October 1.

This was disclosed by the FCT sector commander of the FRSC, Mr Jonas Agwu in a radio programme monitored yesterday morning.

The sector commander said before the ban, the FRSC was recording accident rate of 150 to 170 Okada accide-nts monthly, adding that with the ban the roads are free of the recklessness of such riders.

He stated that private mo-torcyclists operating in the city would have to wear crash helmets, reflective vests as well as have valid licenses as directed by the FCT minister.

Agwu disclosed further that both private and comm-ercial motorcyclists operating within Abuja would be regulated to ensure sanity.

According to him, private motorcyclists would be given local identification and nu-mber plates to distinguish them from commercial motor-cyclists on the payment of a prescribed fee.

Diamond Bank donates 150 buses to Abuja mass transit
AMOS ADETUNJI, Lagos - 10.10.2006

IN support of the Federal Government’s vision to establish within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) a transport system akin to those in the first world, Diamond Bank Plc has facilitated the procurement of 150 luxury buses meant for the Abuja mass transit project.

The buses were inaugurated by President Olusegun Obasanjo at the Eagles’ Square on independence day.

In January 2005, Nationwide Unity Transport Limited, a private sector establishment, secured one of the route concessions for the Abuja Mass Transit project for an initial five years tenure.

As part of the agreement with Federal Capital Territory, the company will be providing 250 city buses annually to meet the urban transportation needs of Abuja.

According to the executive director, Commercial Banking of Diamond Bank, Mr. U. K. Eke, the initiative demonstrated the bank’s inclination to support people oriented projects.

Referring to the project as a gift to Nigerians, Mr. Eke said the Abuja Mass Transit plan would not only alleviate transportation problems of the people, but also bring the system to first world standard.
