Politics / Re: What Can We Nigerians Do To Make Nigeria Great ? by dblock(m): 6:05am On Dec 19, 2008
Looking at the level of intelligence of the average Nigerian, The country has a long way to go.

The level of illiteracy and the simplicity of their arguments towards the country as well as a blatant unwillingness to acknowledge or foresee anything positive happening int the country.

Half of Nigeria are uneducated people seeking green card, that is the problem not the Government. The Government after all stems from the population.

Politics / Re: Politicians contributing to the Development of Nigeria by dblock(m): 3:18am On Nov 27, 2008
Obviously it doesn't mean we are getting better.

But statistics show that more people in Nigeria are capable of affording such things than ever before.

The market is there, if it wasn't they wouldn't be built.

Infact there is a lack of services.

There are not enough hotels in Lagos, when foreign investors visit they spend a lot of time looking for an hotel.

As a member on both forums for some years now, I would really encourage people from this forum to Join the forum and contribute.

The vast majority of these projects are Privately funded, which comes as a direct result of the emerging middle class (Which is poverty alleviation)

Since 1999, poverty has been alleviated by 20% and this did not come about by simply investing in Primary and Secondary institutions but by building up the working class, by creating jobs and opportunities with such developments as those posted in the site.

Seldom do we find projects totally financed by the Government directed at such developments and really that is the remaining problem, the Government's inability to fund much needed infrastructure which fortunately is improving.

Nigeria is not Surulere or Sango or Makoko etc, Poverty is there in the country but we are a fast growing economy and we have to move to our rightful place in the world.

See you in the forum.

Politics / Re: North Has World's Highest Iliterate Children ( World Bank) by dblock(m): 2:07am On Oct 11, 2008
The statistics are somewhat true.

Maybe it is not the worst in the World as the statistics say, but it is definitely up there.

Countries that are totally controlled by Islam perform Negatively

Why countries which are less controlled perform Better.

The United Arab Emirates, Kuwait etc are better than Saudi Arabia, Iran etc.

Why is it that Nigeria is one of the countries that still has Polio

It's because people in the north won't vaccinate their children.

The Average GDP per capita in the North is about $900/1000 (Proven)

The Average GDP per capita in the South is about $2000/2500 (Proven)

The economy in the North these days is inexistent, which is why there is still a heavy reliance on commodities from Southern Nigerian.

The Problem with the north is Sharia and the Elitist Structure.

Take this away, you have a better society, better standard of living and maybe even a better economy as there is better productivity.

Business / Re: Power Crisis: Senator Calls For Ban On Generators by dblock(m): 7:52am On Jul 20, 2008
You have a problem with Generators, you don't like Okada, You don't like Molue and Danfo, You don't like Beggers, You don't like thieves, you don't like Vendors and Hawkers, You don't like 419, You don't like Militants, You don't like Police asking for bribes.

But How are these problems going to go away unless you actually Create and adequate Infrastructure, Industry and alleviate Poverty.

People wouldn't use Generators if they had adequate Energy Supply, People wouldn't use Okada, Danfos etc if they had a better means of transportation, people wouldn't beg if there employment opportunities, people wouldn't steal if they had no reason to, people wouldn't street hawk if they had something better to do, 419ners wouldnt scam if they had job opportunities after leaving University, Militants wouldn't retaliate if their region wasn't neglected, Police wouldn't ask for bribe if they got paid and adequately.

Such laws will only result in over crowded prisons, because i don't see how people will abide by them

Politics / Re: Power Outage Forces Flight Diversion by dblock(m): 7:38am On Jul 08, 2008
The power outage comes as a direct result of a lack of adequate gas supply to the Power Plants, coupled with the low water levels at the Hydro dams. The gas supply inadequacy is due to the vandalism of Pipelines by youths in the Niger Delta as well as the General Instability that has prevented new pipelines to be constructed supplying the various plants with Gas.

Now ask yourselves why this is the first time this has been heard of yet the Amount of Infrastructure for Energy is actually on the rise.

What Nigerians must hope for is that Yar'Adua makes the right decisions in stopping the Crisis in the Niger Delta.

The Economy of Nigeria is the Niger Delta.
Politics / Re: 260 Nigerians Dumped In Algerian Desert by dblock(m): 7:20am On Jul 08, 2008
Countries that value human rights have humane ways of handling illegal immigrants

Nigeria must immediately cut all ties with Algeria.

When people were flocking into Nigeria in the 70s illegals and legals, they were not dumped anywhere, be it the Semi Desert of the North or the Delta of the South. They were transported back to their countries.
Politics / Re: Gunmen Kidnap Brother Of Joseph Yobo by dblock(m): 2:44pm On Jul 07, 2008
The problem with the Niger Delta; is that although it is quite underdeveloped; the criminals that are fighting for the region have brains that are underdeveloped.

Whether the militant factions are responsible is of little importance. The fact that militant groups such as MEND have employed criminality as part of their tactics, has not only undermined the legitimacy of their struggle but it has now evidently led to a widespread case of kidnappings and other activities that are being mimicked not only in the volatile Niger Delta region but elsewhere in the country.

That is if the Militant factions and the mimics can even be distinguished.

Such developments such as the kidnapping of Norum and the recent kidnappings in Lagos come as a result of this.

I hope they all burn in hell.

How do they justify kidnapping this guy now.

They should speed up with the warships.

Every single one of them should be killed

Politics / Re: Landis(Nairaland): I Wish We Could Think Like The West by dblock(m): 2:37pm On Jul 04, 2008
And please can u provide evidence to support your statement that America & the west are not happy today. Sorry i forgot Nigerians are the happiest people on earth with no power supply, insecurity, bad roads and large propotion of the population living below $1 per day, happy people indeed.

Reading your second statement i decided not to bother, where someone can say the intellectual decision is not the best one. I rest my case, perhaps the emotional one is better. All the BS about environment and what not i can't be bothered to respond.

Look at this homsexual.

America is not a happy country because; there is sizable amount of crime, poverty is lower than in most countries but it is still existent, a lot of American minorities remain passive, People are over materialistic, and this hasn't been proven to create an happiness, Obesity is rampant and studies have shown that the standard of living in America which isn't actually as good as people may think, does not factor in the things that actually account for happiness. And yes statistically Nigeria is a happier country than America.

The intellectual decision is the best one, you are misconstruing my points. I made statements declaring that the decisions made by America and a lot of countries are made to seize Authority and benefit a few, they do to benefit the people that are exploited nor do they benefit the vast majority of the American population. The sustainable decisions or the "emotional" one as you have so simplistically put is the decision that can equate to wellbeing over a prolonged period of time. We have been made more and more aware, that we are moving past the equilibrium. We have reshaped the earth and by searching for various alternatives, we will inevitably be creating a never ending cycle of amendments, alternatives, problems etc.

All the BS about the environment, is actually occurring right in front of your eyes. Natural disasters are gradually intensifying and this is a product of the economic advancements made by the world's largest economies that are sabotaging the environment and thus any future whatsoever.
