Nairaland GeneralRe: What Can We Do To Solve Nigeria's Power {electricity} Problems ? by dblock(m): 8:48am On Mar 19, 2007
That's not the way to go Seun undecided

I'd rather live in darkness than in an environment with so many generators

*For on thing the fumes, are very unhealthy
*We all know how that affects the environment
*The noise might be somewhat unbearable
*It would be an inefficient way to power up the naija economy
*Nigeria would be ridiculed by International media
*There are a couple more things

I think a better initiative that would have a huge effect on power production will be large scale solar and small hydro projects. Every house over an area of around 100Km2 can be hooked up with Solar panels, these have the latest solar technology that will ensure that the cells are charged so there is 24 hours electricity and the panels can also heat water.
The coverage can then be expanded over time until most towns and villages are covered.

Small Hydro Projects can be embarked upon, these will have very paramount effects of power generation. A decent production capacity of 20,000 megawatts of electricity can ne achieved. Small Hydros are smaller, cheaper bu produce more electricity than regular Hydro dams. The electricity produced can then be properly distributed with state of the art underground cables to homes and offices all over the country.

These projects will be owned and managed by a designated private companies that will have a system with;
*Power Metres
*The tariff will be adjusted based on the quality of service(Daily)
*The underground cables will be protected by lock wire systems that will shock vandals to bits.
*The service will overall be very efficient, and cheap compared to electricity produced for the national Grid

What do you think?

There are great plans for Lagos, The CBD will have all the major roads refilled or completely rebuilt, the abandoned buildings will be turned into entertainment centres and the whole scenery will be beautified

Lagos isn't going to loose it's title as "Nigeria's Financial Capital" anytime soon wink

I agree

If you can't see nothing good about your country, you should abstain from any affairs regarding the country
That includes thinking about Naija

TravelRe: Why Are Some Nigerians Abroad Scared Of Going Back Home? by dblock(m): 7:24am On Mar 18, 2007
The stuff I'm learning in school now in Australia is the same stuff I was learning in Nigeria 7 years ago.
Curriculum is different from credibility and facilities
The Nigerian, Sri Lankan and Indian curriculum's are the highest in the world in terms of Intellect and difficulty

Why do you think that Indians are so smart, but yet a school in Indian is jam packed and has little facilities
You'd be a fool to use Curriculum and Fidelity interchangeably. There is a huge difference

BusinessRe: Great Business Opportunities: Abuja Technology Village by dblock(m): 7:05am On Mar 18, 2007
This is a great development that should have being planned earlier. Nigeria is dwelling in a state were business cannot be properly achieved, Nigeria cannot contribut to world tecnology and we can't help ourseleves technological wise. This can change that, this project has recieved international recognition, it has a Pharmaceutical plant that will reduce the amount of fake drugs produced and imported in the country. This University is world class and apart from the educational faciltities there are various residential estates and ammenities that can be enjoyed by Nigerians and people from all over the world. Investing in this project will change your life forever and that of Nigeria cheesy
