“…Buhari was not using bullet-proof car before. I know Buhari very well. Why did he use bullet-proof car that day? He did not die. None of his aides died…” – Asari Dokubo speaking at a press conference (page 5, SUNDAY SUN, July 27, 2014 .This criminal is monitoring Buhari's movement. |
Leader of Niger Delta People's Salvation Force (NDPSF), Asari Dokubo has asked the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate an alleged attempt by him to assassinate former President Mohammed Buhari. In a letter rewritten on his behalf by his lawyer, Festus Keyamo, Dokubo stated that, after the ugly incidents of Wednesday, 23rd July, 2014 in Kaduna State that killed about 85 people and which was allegedly targeted at former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari and an Islamic Cleric, Sheik Dahiru Bauchi. “An online media, RESCUE NEWS, published a news item that our client procured suicide bombers to kill General Muhammdu Buhari and that he is privy to a plot to assassinate General Muhammdu Buhari,” Keyamo’s letter to the Director General of the DSS requesting an investigation into the matter stated. Dokubo asserted that, “The publisher further alleged that our client paid the sum of N5,000,000.00 (Five Million Naira) to the suicide bombers that carried out the said dastardly act and that one of the suspected suicide bombers arrested in connection with the said incident of 23rd July, 2014 has confessed to our client’s complicity in the said act.” The letter further said, “Our client finds these mendacious allegations made against him too weighty and grave to ignore or disregard. The said allegations have endangered the life of our client, the lives of his family, close associates and kinsmen.” Dokubo also said while he has the right to express his views on national issues like any other citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and has done so on many occasions, he has never and will never be involved in a plot to kill a respected former leader like Buhari or anyone for that matter. His solicitors implored the DSS to thoroughly investigate the allegations leveled against Dokubo by the said ‘Rescue News’ to curtail the threat, public disenchantment and animosity already created against our client, his family, close associates and kinsmen as a result of these baseless allegations.source:http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/daily/news/30575-kaduna-blasts-dokubo-ask-sss-to-investigate-assassination-allegation |

A Non-Governmental Organization, Concerned Arewa Citizens, yesterday submitted a bill to the Kaduna State House of Assembly for the registration and issuance of work permit to all Southerners living in the state. A similar bill was last week sent to the Kano State House of Assembly. Presenting the bill to Speaker of the House, Alhaji Shehu Tahir, President-General of the group, Audu Bulama Bukarti, said the “Registration of Southerners and Allied Matters Bill”, seeks to protect the state from the evils of drugs and human trafficking, kidnappings, baby factories, armed robbery, importation of firearms, pipeline vandalism and other terrorist activities, which he said have become prevalent in Southern Nigeria. “Our state has suffered and is still suffering from most of the aforementioned criminal activities, whose proliferation is partly due to the haphazard entry and exit accorded southerners who are the masters of these evils. Passing this bill, subject to any modification the Assembly might make, is not only appropriate but necessary because if there are no checks and balances, the evil people may infiltrate and corrupt the people of Kaduna State,” he said. Responding, Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Alhaji Shehu Tahir, assured the group that the House will study the bill and do justice to it. “A fundamental issue of security has been raised which is of concern to everybody, so we shall look at the viability of the bill,” he said.source:http://dailytrust.com.ng/daily/news/29771-group-submits-bill-for-registration-of-southerners-in-kaduna |

The National Industrial Court yesterday in Abuja ordered the governing council of the University of Abuja (UniAbuja) not to take part in the appointment of the new vice chancellor for the university pending the determination of the motion on notice before the court. Justice B. A. Adejumo ordered the respondents who include the new vice chancellor not to take part “overtly or covertly in any act or action concerning the appointment of any person whatsoever to the office of the vice chancellor of the University of Abuja, Abuja pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice herein.” Three teachers had sought an interim injunction restraining the University from appointing Prof Michael Adikwu as vice chancellor pending determination of their case. The Joint Council and Senate Selection Board appointed Prof Adikwu vice chancellor recently following the expiration of the tenure of the erstwhile vice chancellor, Prof James Adelabu. The trio, Dr Raji Rasheed, Dr Muktar Muhammad and Dr Nkoli Ifenyi who instituted the suit described the appointment as fraudulent and lacking due process. According to them, candidates who performed better in selection test: Professor Umar Danbatta (87% scores) and professor AbdulRaheem Adebayo Lawal (73% scores) were bye-passed for the third best, Prof Michael Adikwu (64%) in the appointment. Joined in the suit are the university Senate, the Registrar, the Pro-Chancellor, Minister of Education Nyesom Wike, the National Universities Commission (NUC), Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia, and Professor Adikwu.source:http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/28657-court-stops-uniabuja-vc-appointment |

peoplesdailyng.com/nigeria-will-be-better-with-kwankwaso-as-president-says-fani-kayode/ |
From Mustapha Adamu, Kano Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani Kayode said Nigeria will be a better place if Kano State governor, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is at the helms of affairs as President of the country. Kayode, who stated this shortly after he paid a consultation visit to Kano State governor while responding to questions from journalists at the state’s government house yesterday, said he was amazed with what the governor has done in his state. “Honestly, I am very impressed with the effort governor Kwankwaso has made in transforming his state. I am here to discuss national issue with him and I took time to go round the town to inspect some of his projects. I was quite impressed for what he has been doing. “If such developments delivered by Kwankwaso from state level to national level, and if we had a president that is capable of doing what Kwankwaso is doing in Kano, Nigeria would have been a much better place”, he said. He described governor Kwankwaso as exceptional when comparing with his counterpart in Jigawa state, Governor Sule Lamido. “I was amazed with the airport that the Jigawa State governor Sule lamido has provided there, but when I came to Kano, I found that Kwankwaso was exceptional. I was very impressed with him.” he added. ” I was not surprised that Kwankwaso has done so well, simply is because he was one of OBJ’s strong disciples. He was the PDP member in 1999 when the party was real PDP. He was the state’s governor from 1999 to 2003 and went to national level as the minister of defence before he returned to Kano as the governor for the second term. I am very proud of him. He has also taken a wonderful position by defecting from PDP to APC”, he said. |

Written by Muideen Olaniyi Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) yesterday said that the defection of Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has saved Nigeria from further division by ethnic-jingoists. The CNPP, in a statement through its National Publicity Secretary, Osita Okechukwu, hailed Amaechi and saluted the G-5 governors for finally deleting dictatorial one- party system from Nigeria’s political lexicon, by decamping from the PDP to the APC. The umbrella body of all registered political parties noted that the action of the G-5 governors was the stimulation of the much-needed balance of power in the country’s political firmament. “It is a master-stroke because today, power is balanced in Nigeria with two dominant political parties, one conservative, one progressive, equal in strength, equal in spread in all the wards, local government areas, states and National Assembly, which provides the electorate the alternative to choose from. “The G-5 has catapulted Nigeria into the zenith of liberal democracy, where autocracy, dictatorship and arrogance are reduced to the barest minimum and where compromise reigns and no party actually rules,” it stated. The CNPP singled out Amaechi “for his role in re- positioning Nigerian democracy and indeed saving our fledgling democracy from the hands of ethnic-jingoists.” The CNPP observed that “without the Rivers governor joining the APC progressives’ train with other G-5 governors, the ethnic-jingoists could have gone to town to further divide Nigeria.:source sunday trust |

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) yesterday confirmed seeing the list of some top Northern elders to be induced by people allegedly working for President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election in 2015. In a statement personally signed by the ACF Chairman, Alhaji Aliko Mohammed, the Northern socio-political group disclosed that the so called list contains names of some of the most respected people in Northern Nigeria. “We have however made enquiries within the government and have spoken with many of the people whose names are on the list and they confirmed to us that they know nothing whatsoever about it. No one has met them nor are they interested in meeting any one on the issue,” the statement read. ACF stated, “Those seeking or advising the president to offer inducements in exchange for support are clearly taking the matter of the President’s re-election away from performance in office to something else. If that is the case, they will be well advised to leave Northern leaders out of it, because the so called list which we have seen indeed contain names of some of the most respected people in Northern Nigeria.” Niger State governor and chairman of the Northern States Governor’s Forum, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, had earlier raised an alarm over a list crafted by President Jonathan’s men of some Northern elders to be induced before the 2015 general elections, a statement the presidency denied. Jonathan’s aide Ahmed Gulak however denied the allegation and challenged the Niger State governor to mention the politicians that were bribed. “What I can simply say is that Mr. President is not used to bribing people. We challenge Aliyu to name the people that were bribed,” he said. |
