just like all d WAILING by northerners on Twitter is fake news, abi?
favor914:
Sensational headline, so the herdsmen killed them so they could use their so called land for grazing? 100 people dead, mostly like communal clash, the corrupt press sells most when they just mention herdsmen.

No fewer than 100 persons were killed by herders in six Local Government Areas in Benue State, a Special Adviser to Governor Ortom on Bureau of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ken Achabo, has claimed.

Achabo, who made this known, also raised the alarm that armed herdsmen had occupied some parts of the LGAs, grazing, destroying farm lands and harvested crops .

The SA, in statement made available to reporters in Makurdi, named the councils as Gwer West, Guma, Makurdi ,Logo, kwande and AGATU.
(AGATU AGAIN?!? WHEN WILL THE PEOPLE GET SENSE AND START DEFENDING THEMSELVES, FOR GOD'S SAKE?!?! huh)

He also described the call by Governor Muhammed for everyone to be allowed to bear arms as an “invitation to anarchy. ”

Achaba, who called on the Federal Government to compensate victims of herdsmen attacks, especially in Benue State, appealed to the people to remain calm as Ortom was determined to ensure their safety.

PoliticsSeparating Buhari From Idiagbon by debaj10(op): 10:23am On Feb 12, 2021
I'd like contributions from all and sundry.
during buhari's dictatorship, idiagbon was called the "iron man" disciplinarian who set the tone for the nation's sense of being.
ideas like WAI are attributed to him.
also, the policy regarding crime was "shoot first, ask later".
of course, power corrupts, so the abuse of power was inevitable.
but where did buhari's words stop and idiagbon's actions begin?
what exactly did he control?

and who charted the monetary and fiscal policies of the administration?
who drove the economic ideas?
if people claim idiagbon was "in charge", why was the economic meltdown buhari's fault?

facts over fiction, evidence over hearsay.
so, I expect numerous quotes from newspapers and magazines.

The perception is that you're mostly either silent on the happenings in your region, or you support the status quo.

Let me disabuse you of your complacency.

The bandits of today were born 18-35 years ago.
Check the population and poverty index at the time.
Both statistics are now over 500% worse.
- I stand to be corrected.

When the current almajiris come of age, there will be millions of youths-
Drug addicts, hardened by neglect, lacking in the slightest sense of compassion or societal values.
-Unlike the current lot who still grudgingly pay attention/dues to their elders and authority figures.
And every single one of them filled with a deep, abiding hatred and despair.

They will ALL come for you. ALL of you.
At that time- 5 to 10 years from now, at the most- the current crop of bandits will be seen as "soft" criminals, in comparison.

So. Who will solve this problem?
60 years in the making, who's solved any of your problems?
Therefore-
If not you, who?

I suggest you organise yourselves and begin a consistent and persistent campaign of activism in both governance and problem solving.
The time to act is extremely short and your window for action is closing at a frightening rate.

Or, you can continue as you are-
Complaining or praising on social media.
Burying your head in the sand.
Waiting for a savior politician.

But from now henceforth, you can't say you didn't know.

God help us all.

PS-
It's assumed that graduates from other regions will take this message to heart as well.
To do otherwise would be a great folly.

lalasticlala, mods-

help job seekers work smart.
HR personnel, kindly contribute.
Jobs/VacanciesAdvice To The Unemployed by debaj10(op): 11:16pm On Jan 19, 2021
Yes, it seems long.
I'll be as succinct as possible.
...

Job seeking is war, with various battles.
Most of you don't get that.
The very few who do, actually think soldiers at the warfront should get some time off.
Amazing.
Your strategies determine your outcome.
Plan well.

Here goes-
Your Resources
Winning Options
Time Management

1. YOUR RESOURCES
You
God
Time
Money
People
Appliances
The Virtues...

The Virtues
Without these, you might as well go into crime.
Hey, in case you missed it-
We're in a recession. Staying on the straight and narrow is tough.
Structure your life around these and half the war is won.
Three quarters, actually.

Money
Set a weekly budget.
If you're utterly broke, good-
You're ahead of others because you have nothing to lose - and won't waste your EXTREMELY PREVIOUS time and money on frivolities.
Calls, texts, browsing, travel, food, self care.
- in descending order of importance.

People
You know over 250 people directly.
Use the list below as appropriate.
You need to network, develop your warm list of contacts and grow that list- per person listed below.
Discuss with them, how each can help you.
For those who're willing to help, craft several templates that you can use on their phones to reach ALL their (relevant) contacts.
A soft, social, warm approach is best- your people's contacts already know them.
A mentor*
Parents
Siblings
Extended family
Friends
Religious members
Neighbours
Past Academic/work colleagues
Past Tutors and bosses
*Your mentor is the most important person on this list. If you don't have one, get one.

Appliances
I assume you have a Nokia torch phone at least? If you don't, borrow.
Pen & notebook°
Laptop/PC
Car
Internet access
°These are the most important items on your list.
Think I'm joking?

God
This one's easy-
You do, or you don't.

You
In summary, Personal Development-
Personal SWOT analysis
Financial intelligence
Cash flow quadrant
Personality/traits
Know thyself.

Time
Is job hunting your work/primary assignment, or your side hustle?
Either way-
Work and Volunteer^
Study
Side hustle
Sleep
- 6 hour minimum
Exercise. Yes.
^Many of you missed out on this INVALUABLE activity in university. Now as graduates, your CV is flat. Dull. Uninspiring.
And you're STILL neglecting this door-opening, opportunity-revealing, GRACE-GIVING Exercise!
If you refuse to give, why should you receive?
Pity.

2. TIME MANAGEMENT
Daily routine
Stay current with your field
Expand your horizons

DAILY Routine-
Call
Text
Browse
CV drops
Side hustle
Volunteer
Intern

Stay Current
What's happening this week in the various fields that concern you?
How current are you on current affairs?
- politics
- economy
- npower
- technology
- local news
- covid 19
- professional news

Expand Your Horizons
What fields related to your degree have you prepared for?
At one in 6 months- how many certifications have you acquired since graduation?f
How developed are your soft skills?
If in 2021 you're less than a computer expert, what's your excuse?
- do you know children now start learning to code at 4 years of age?
How many new skills have you acquired since you became an UNDERgraduate?
How ready are you for field work, requiring practical knowledge/experience?
How many life skills do you have?

3. WINNING OPTIONS
This is the easiest part-
Deciding what VICTORY means in this war:
Successfully getting a dream job?
Getting any job that pays above a certain amount?
Any job at all?
Or would a complete shift into an entirely new profession be of greater benefit?
It's up to you.

But I expect that the process above once started, will help provide a paradigm shift in your perspective.
And I GUARANTEE that the end result will make you a much better, greater, highly sought after candidate in ANY job you apply for.

On a final note:
Between Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram, YouTube, Nairaland and MOOC sites-
How can you have any excuse for being jobless?!
And just so you know-
For every hour you waste on irrelevant things (be they DSTV, SM trends, gossip or games), you lose a day's worth of Personal Development.

Good luck &
God bless
