Jobs/VacanciesRe: Glo Callcenter & Multichoice Callcenter by debbie(f): 11:37am On Sep 12, 2015
As for your friend,I can tell of glo callcenter. They run a shift job,you will be tied down there, don't expect any promotion or review. Though the shift will give you sometime to do your personal stuff. Note that glo is so unstructured, one man business, eye-service and favoritism. Sometimes you will get frustrated, no career there and above all you can be fired at will. I no nothing about multichoice. Please I don't work in glo but I know a couple of close friends who work there.
Bottomline is after awhile you become unproductive and redundant.this is just on a general note.
PoliticsObiano Awards Scholarship To Children Of Boko Haram Victims by debbie(op): 12:30pm On Sep 10, 2015
The compassionate governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has reached out to the survivors of the 12 men who were slain by members of Boko Haram at Mubi, Taraba State in Januray 2014 and awarded scholarships to their children.

In a most horrifying killing spree, the members of the Boko Haram jihadists had slain 12 men who all hailed from Adazi Nnukwu, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State. The casualties – Amaechi Onwudike, Obinna Akuwke, Osita Aforka, Ukamaka Aforka, Uchenna Okpala, Ugochukwu Ezenwekwe, John Obiakonwa, Patrick Agbachi, Job Mgbemena, Bede Anagbado and Sunday Okoye were gunned down when they gathered in the house of one Mr. Simeon Asoh, a fellow towns man who has been killed the previous day by the same sect members, to deliberate on his burial plans.

The brutal murder of the victims plunged their families into the wilderness of want and deprivation, threatening the education of their children. But in a clear demonstration of his increasingly familiar humane side, Governor Obiano has handed scholarships to the children to ensure that their education and proper development is not truncated by the sudden death of their fathers.

The children of the Boko Haram victims were among the 82 students and pupils who received scholarship funds and incentives totalling about 11 million naira from the governor as a humanitarian gesture.

Other beneficiaries include the highly promising students of Dennis Memorial Grammar School Onitsha who represented Nigeria at the World Schools Debating Championship in Singapore this year as well as some students living with disability.

Other categories beneficiaries include the children of the late former commissioner for science and technology, Mr. Chike Okoli and the children of other citizens of the state who died in active service.

Presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, Governor Obiano explained that the gesture to the children of Boko Haram victims was in keeping with his resolve to always remain sensitive to the pulse of Ndi Anambra and to ensure that no Anambra child is denied education on the basis of their inability to pay the school fees.

“I am very proud that for the past three years, Anambra has remained tops in both WAEC and NECO exams. We are continuing to build solid foundations for such progress to continue. It is also an opportunity to sympathize with Ndi Anambra that were forced to come down here because of the challenges we are having in the North-East geopolitical zone of the country and to show them that we share in their losses. Before now, we have been distributing food items to them and this largesse is to tell them that we are not going to leave them,” said the Governor.

Earlier the Commissioner for Education, Professor Kate Omenugha said the State Education Sector was able to register numerous landmarks because the Governor has remained committed to the academic development of the students as well as the welfare of the teachers.

Said she, “Since this administration came into office, it has distributed over 30 million naira in scholarships. Some of these scholarships were inherited from the past administration and in the light of continuity, it upheld them while instituting others through the Ministry of Education. This edition is unique in that it encompasses special students in keeping with the present administration’s commitment to ensure that the learning needs of all are met irrespective of status”.

Some of the beneficiaries including Master Chiagozie Udorji, an SS1 student of Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha who was part of Nigeria’s Contingent to the 2015 World School’s Debate Championship in Singapore and Kelvin Anozie, a student of ANSU who is on scholarship for emerging the overall best Igbo student in the 2008 WAEC Exam.

Also speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Kelvin Anozie said the investment made in the education sector was the driving factor behind their successes and assured that they would continue to utilize the scholarship to make the state proud.

In an emotion-laden voice, one of the widows from Adazi-Nnukwu who received incentives on behalf of her five children, Mrs Agatha Aghachi noted that since she lost her husband, life has been hard for her and her children and assured that the funds would go a long way in supporting her children’s education, describing Governor Obiano as god-sent.

cry cry cry why? We are professional women ooo.
Very soon organizations will be requesting for COREN and NSE registered engineers.I pray the government will look into this to ensure effective engineering.
Too many unskilled people acting as engineers.
seyilapy:
* tongue out * LoooooL who knows APWEN? That's how you guys were forming too back then in school LoooooL. Well as regards NSE and COREN there is relevance o. Check out job adverts in some cases you see things like must be a registered engineer bla bla bla and I don't think there is any harm joining. As I earlier said God help us and lead us right. Miss APWEN looooool. Proud member of APMEN too. * winks *

Thanks dear....as for the COREN AND NSE thing alot of graduates are scared to join, some dont see any relevance their while some dont just have any reason why they shouldnt join.
Anyway i am a proud member of APWEN cheesy cheesy for now.
Truth is being a member exposes you to alot of positive Stuffs.
seyilapy:
Keep it up debbie you killed it. You said it all and that the punch-line. Main issue fresh graduates have now is they want money first experience later which I don't think can work that way. In my own case will even advice starting from a lowkey company where by you can grab all the experience you need then use the experience gained to get a higher paid job. Also as you rightly said jack-of-all-thread does not work out as we all know Elect Eng has different fields just pick the one most preferable face it and have brief or little knowledge of other aspect because this days machines are designed with combination of the major 3 aspects power, control and communication. Just found this thread today and am happy to meet my junior, fellow and senior ogas @ the top. God bless us all Amen. ( Don't forget to join NSE and COREN too o )

I think the instruction fell on deaf ears and there is not serious enforcement.
This morning along ikorodu road you will see tankers and containers on the road.Driving as if there was no order or ban on them.
Even along lekki-ajah road.
To my greatest shock i saw lastma officials around chisco round-about doing nothing.
Within few miniutes a G-WAGON was driving bye and these hungry LASTMA stopped the car and was saluting the driver. The started hailing the man and telling him to DO-MONDAY for them.

I think lagos is going backwards, unless something is done about it.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: GE And Their Trickish Recruitment/job Adverts by debbie(f):
Good morning my people.Like i promised i want to share a tip and something i discovered about GE and their recruitment.
NOTE-this may not entirely be workable or true in all situation, but to a large extent it works.
There is a pattern of CV the need, the conventional cv is not usually what they look out for.
The following is what they want to see;
1.Your defined job description eg I carried out a WEEKLY auditing of the account books for their 50 customers,I did a DAILY inspection of the 10 production machines,I TAUGHT a class of 20 mathematics students on a daily basis.
They expect you to have a near accurate figure or quantification of what you did in your past and present job.

2.Ensure that you use the same FONT size an pattern in all your cv. Dont use CALIBRI and then TIMES NEW ROMAN,OR size 10 and 14 together.
3.Avoid unnecessary BOLD,ITALIC and the rest.
4.Make use of professional words that are related to the job description and position you are talking about ( there is a software that sieves CV) and know that those KEYWORDS are the things the look out for.
5.GE hates error and mistakes in you cv,it shows how careless and unserious you are .If you can not proof-read your cv before submitting then you are not fit to be hired.
6.Avoid BULLET POINTS and if you must use it then let it be.....but where needed.

Finally keep your cv as simple as possible.
GE doesn't want to see your LGA,RELIGION,AGE ON YOUR CV
They give equal opportunity to all applicants.
DISCLAIMER-This is my humble opinion from experience and it is in no way an official information from GE.
Cheers

CultureRe: Arochukwu (in Pictures) by debbie(f): 12:36pm On Sep 07, 2015
Daalu,kaa
This your explanation is very clear. It is obvious that the western culture is robbing us of our heritage.
I weep anytime i travel to Aro and see how our people behave and try to adopt the western world.
Even some elders are gradually loosing touch of what they had.
As for the ikeji festival.Coming from both sides i discovered that those of them in Arondizogu tend to celebrate it more that Arochukwu people.i say this because i have roots in both places and i know what happens there. Also can you explain our relationship with NKANA people?
I was told that some our people settled there and have alot in common too.
naaa wo.
odumchi:
I gbaliri woo.

Unfortunately, the decline of our nwa mgbede tradition is a direct result of our carelessness with regards to the extent to which we are embracing Westernization. Moreover, education and economic factors influence and pressure modern day youth to the extent that it has become disadvantageous, economically and socially speaking, to isolate oneself and abide by all of the customary sanctions and regulations which nwa mgbede are subject to during their ino mgbede period. For example, modern young women who have careers and occupations no longer seem to have the time to isolate themselves for weeks nor to learn to live life and go through their day to day activities while wearing ola (ankle bracelets). Besides, since Eurocentric beauty standards have become the universal definition of "beauty", our people's traditional perception of thick and shapely as "the ideal" have phased out. What we know today as mgbede is the watered down remains of what mgbede truly was. I'd say the last generation to truly experience genuine and unadulterated mgbede was born in the 20s or 30s.

The Ikeji festival was brought over to Izuogu by its founders (like at all other Aro settlements). Ikeji Izuogu, however, due to the influence of non-Aro cultural elements, has significantly diverged from Ikeji Aro (the one at Arochukwu). For example: in Izuogu it's celebrated in August, while in Aro it's held in September; Ikeji Izuogu features masquerades such as mmanwu and ekpe, whereas Ikeji Aro features ekpo and ekpe; Ikeji Aro has special days and mini-festivals that are unique to it such as Eke Ekpe, Orie Ogbugbu and Avo Osu. Interestingly, it's actually quite common to find pilgrims from Izuogu and other Aro settlements participating in the Ikeji held at the Aro homeland.

Jobs/Vacancies7 Types Of Recruitment Test Candidates In Nigeria by debbie(op): 11:51am On Sep 07, 2015
By Toby Nwazor

The first time I wrote a recruitment test was almost two years – after my graduation. I don’t know why they call those things tests. I mean, these so-called tests are way tougher than many degree exams. But, that’s a story for another day…

Since my first time, I have written my fair share of recruitment tests. Some were very tough, while some were way too easy.

The easy tests/interviews usually come from insurance companies who don’t pay any salary. And of course, there are the drug marketing companies where you need to register with about 30,000 Naira first.

From my observation and little experience in recruitment tests and interviews, all the applicants fall into seven main categories.

Here they are in no particular order:

1.The Older Candidates (Agadi ekwe nka)

The tests I have been going for are usually supposed to be for entry level jobs. Yet, I see men and women who are obviously in their late thirties or early forties at the venue.

The same pattern of thoughts usually run through my head: “Ah ah! These people already have jobs, and now they want to come and use their reggae to spoil my blues.”

Well shaa, make I no pour sand-sand for another person garri. The hustle is hard, and everybody get as e dey do dem.

2.The Big Boiz and Gehz

These people come with their cars, and are always blasting loud playing music. They are the people sitting in their A/C cars, eating ice creams and taking selfies while everyone else is drinking cold pure water and okpa di oku under the sun.

Imagine the conconbility!

In my mind, “These ones are not serious. They never even start to dey look for job for this naija. They are enjoying life. They don’t even need any job sef. They just want to do other people akpili ogologo” (show off). But then, what do I know?

3.The Hustlers

These are mainly over-sabi guys who studied engineering courses in school. They usually have the past question papers of the test and will be dishing the answers out to everyone that cares to listen.

You will always find them dressed in blue or black jeans, sneakers, and a polo or t-shirt. They are hard to ignore as they are usually surrounded by other applicants who would be asking them questions as they brandish their knowledge.

You will find them under any tree outside the exam/test hall. If they are not standing, they will be squatting, using their fingers to solve further maths on the ground.

Don’t allow them to intimidate you sha. And don’t follow all they say. Many times, their answers are wrong.

4.The Spiricoco Brethren

These ones come for recruitment tests with their calculators, pens, pencils, and Bibles.

You will know them by how they look. The guys will be seen wearing plain trousers and big shirts that look like parachutes. These shirts are usually short sleeved shirts in primary colours (royal blue, yellow, red), or green.

Then of course there will be a contrasting tie, so big you can use it for a hand fan. And as a rule, they put on shoes that look like Bro. Shoekwuma’s.

As for the girls, if you don’t recognize them by their long flowing skirts, you will spot their head scarves.

They usually stand alone with squinted eyes as if they are seeing vision.

5.The Fresh Graduates

These ones are still fresh, enthusiastic, and very optimistic. They believe that the job is for them and them alone. They probably never had any carry over in school, so they don’t know what it means to fail a test.

They will readily tell you that if there is just one position in the organization, they will clinch it. They are fresh from NYSC and believe that they will never look for jobs, instead jobs will look for them. So they seem very confident.

6.The Connected Candidates

These candidates have all the connection in the company. They start by greeting the security men at the gate, down to the receptionist. Don’t be surprised that they even know some of the HR people.

Worse still, one of the managers may walk in and exchange words with them too.

Sometimes, they got the jobs before the test/interview. Other times, they are just forming.

Ignore them! First of all, you don’t need the intimidation. Secondly, they can’t help you, no matter how connected they are.

7.The Frustrated Candidates

You will know these people by looking at their faces. Their faces dey always look like say smile never pass there in years.

These candidates are always laden with tales of woes. They have experience in all the recruiting agencies and firms in Nigeria. They have written scores of tests and firmly believe that all the jobs have already been given to pre-selected candidates before the recruitment exercise.

They always have negative stories to tell. From how bad the country is, to how costly a cup of garri is in the market. They share their woeful stories like ‘tales by moonlight’. They already ‘know’ that they would not pass the test/interview, but they write it all the same.

Flee from them like a plague else, they will infect you with their frustrationitis.

What do you think? Did I leave any category out? Which one do you belong to if you are a job seeker?

First when you married her,she came in as a help-mate smiley. As for her salary i think you shouldnt ask for it,but try to advice her to manage it well.
Remember there are some minor expenses she can handle without calling for your help. There are things she will want to buy for the family which you may not know about...that is for the wise women.

There are times when the income wont be flowing as it should, she will step in to help.
If you have kids, she might see things she wants to get for them and will go ahead to buy them.....it helps build her sense of responsibility and support to the family.
This is for the women who care about their family.
Remember she came from a family with parents ,siblings and relations....she may decide to support and help anyone of them when the need arises...it is from her salary she will do it.

Now you know that the wives salary is also used for them home in general.

Keep every communication as professional as possible.
