True and very true.....even if our population grows to that of China,we dont even have the finance to handle it like china is doing. As for the doctors the blame is shared equally......we are not encouraging them to do their job,and some of them too are not even willing to answer the clarion call on their part. Corruption is not the only problem facing Nigeria...we have so much attachment to out culture and old traditions that we develop some sort of stiff neck.Imagine a mother advising her daughter to give birth to plenty children as a mark of regard or respect in the family,or to show that she has the capacity to reproduce....yet she hasn't thought of how those kids will be trained.Even religion is not address it. Some of those men and women in the village who depend on their little income, wont even listen to you when you preach family planning or any sort to them.....WE HAVE A VERY LONG WAY TO GO. joywendy: |
Well you made a good point.....Being rich is not just in the pocket, the mindset and intellect is also a factor. komek: |
Thanks for the points you made. The rich i am talking about is not just money-wise. Intellectually sound and well exposed too. Bollove: |
Well you have said it all....truth is,this is one case out of hundreds out there. The health sector is not doing anything to help.I hear them in hospital where a woman comes to give birth, the doctor doesnt care to know how many children she has, what she does for a living and her health statues (to give advice). It is only few of them that go out of their way to counsel you......most of them are more interested in how the woman will pay her hospital bills.Even some NGO's no longer create such awareness. No wonder there are alot of street kids, some without good parental care....the population keeps going high and there is no check . Our problem in Nigeria plenty ooooo. joywendy: |
Welcome back to your rightful responsibility....See the beautiful children that God blessed them with.I hope he wont plan to have another baby. ![]() In as much as there is freedom to give birth in Nigeria....there should be some sort of advocacy or health campaign to make people understand what we call family planning.Give birth to the number of children you can carter for....especially in this present harsh economy. So that you cant endanger the life of your wife and children.I have come across some very poor families who have up to 7 children and i wonder how they plan to train them. The aftermath of it result in child trafficking, child abuse and early marriage...even some end up becoming a liability to the society. Education either formal or informal is very necessary to drive the message home. My Question-why is it that some rich and wealthy families have fewer children? why do the poor keep on giving birth even when they find it hard to feed and take care of them? |
The word AMNESTY........newly discovered word over there. So dont blame them. ![]() |

The Federal Government has declared Friday, July 17 and Monday, July 20, 2015 as public holidays to the mark the end of Ramadan, known as Eid-El-Fitri. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Abubakar Magaji, who made the declaration on Tuesday in Abuja, enjoined all Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to extend the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, which include love, peace and sacrifice for the development of the nation. He also urged Nigerians to support the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari “in its determination and sustained efforts towards building a peaceful, united and virile nation.” Magaji further urged all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, to use the occasion to pray for peace and unity across the nation. The Permanent Secretary wished Nigerians a happy and joyous celebration. afam4eva take note. http://www.punchng.com/news/id-el-fitr-fg-declares-july-17-20-public-holidays/ |
I have lost hope since before independence.......Rochas is the biggest mistake in imo state. IGBOSON1: |
This is good and i want to congratulate the governor of Anambra state for these development strides....While we have governors who are working,i have a silly one in Imo state whose business is to mount BONGO-SQUARE,build gates on every street without completing any.Sing alot of jingles on radio and waste the public fund, buying all the government owned lands, running the state like a family business .Tell me one thing Rochas has done in imo state and i will tell you Thousands he has not done. Anyway NDI ANAMBRA DAALU NU OOOO |
I dedicate this to every girl out there who is aspiring to go into SCIENCE,TECHNOLOGY OR ENGINEERING. To all the women who are engineers and aspiring to make a positive mark in our generation. Parents please encourage your girl child and support their career.Dont discourage them from going into any male dominated course in the university. I am so proud of these girls.....it shows that we have the best brains in Nigeria, even in the midst of very little and limited resources we still try to bring out the best in us.To the teachers who nurture our kids to greatness...i say well done. Thank you to WITIN(WOMEN IN TECHNOLOGY IN NIGERIA) Nigeria is blessed. |
You see why our health-care keeps getting bad, even his fellow doctors didnt research very well to discover this for over 10 years. Now we know part of our problem in Nigeria. NMA has failed in their duties and everyday we keep on hearing about one strike action after the other. That means there are alot of fake doctors parading themselves around. |
http://sunnewsonline.com/new/fake-doctor-led-nma-police/ From MOLLY KILETE, Abuja A former chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has been exposed by the police as a fake doctor. He operated under the name, Dr. George Daniel. His real name is Martins Ugwu Okpe Parading the suspect before newsmen yesterday at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the police said the 45-year-old man who has worked as a medical doctor with the Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja since 2006, rose to Grade Level 12 status, was after all, an impostor and fake. Okpe was attached to the Research and Planning Department of the ministry. Interestingly, the suspect, who is a secondary school certificate holder, became the NMA chairman, Federal Ministry of Health branch, where he was in charge of the welfare of qualified medical doctors. He was among the medical volunteers trained by the ministry in conjunction with the African Union Support to Ebola out-break in West Africa(ASEOWA), Mission in Liberia, but declined to proceed for the trip after collecting all the allowances from both the ministry and the AU. He also secured admission for professional training at the Centre for Disease Control, tagged: “Nigeria Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training (NFELTP), which is a post-graduate programme affiliated to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. However, his academic performance casts doubts on his competence as a medical doctor. Okpe refused to accept blame for his crime. He heaped the blame on the porous system for not detecting his true status over the years. Ironically, the “doctor” defended his action, saying he was in the system to correct the inherent errors and expose the lapses. Police had revealed that the suspect stole the certificate of his medical doctor friend, one George Davidson Daniel, with which he gained employment with the ministry as a doctor and bears the name on the certificate. The police said he would be charged with impersonation. Force Deputy spokesman, Abayomi Shogunle, said the fake doctor was exposed following a petition to the Inspector-General of Police on March 10 this year by Festus Keyamo chambers on behalf of Martins Ugwu Okpe, an impostor that assumed the identity of Dr. George Davidson Daniel. He said the petition was transferred to the police analytical tracking and inception centre for investigation. According to him, the Federal Civil Service Commission had also written a petition against the suspect, dated May, 2015, when he was found to be engaging in unprofessional conduct and unwholesome behaviour of fomenting trouble, blackmailing and misleading health workers among other crimes. Police said his trouble started after investigation carried out on him by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) found him to be fake and traced the records of Dr. Daniel, who is in a residency programme in Jos, to the Ahmadu Bello University, Faculty of Medicine, that contained a passport size photograph bearing no resemblance with the suspect. Further police investigation showed that the suspect is a childhood friend of the doctor. He stole the certificate when he was his friend’s best man. But Okpe, who said he had wanted to become a soldier, but failed to gain admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy(NDA), said he actually stole the certificate when his friend visited him at his home in Karu, Abuja, noting that he regretted what he did. |
Who is ready to move to CCIE ? there is need to go past the CCNP. There is something coming for those who wish to pursue their cisco career to that level. |
I feel for him,but i have a problem with some of these beggers. One day i met a little girl with tumor and was carried about begging,i made a call to one organization i know that assist such people in medical solution, they accepted to see the girl and know the extent of her health condition.I later walked up to the guy pushing the wheelchair and luckily he understands English.I told him that i know people who are ready to help this girl get out of her situation and will have to see her people or whoever is related to her,so that i can talk with them. Do you know what the guy told me? NO,that the girl is making money through begging and she is putting food for her people while remitting to the owner of the wheelchair....i was weak inside. Now to this guy,is he begging because there is not help for his condition? or is it a case of this girl i mentioned. Severally i have gone out of my way to extend a hand of charity and communicating with people i know who help vulnerable people on the streets....i realized that some of them dont want to be helped..they feel comfortable making money by begging for alms. |

No i dont agree on that....women are more vulnerable to harassment. It is about doing the right thing. innofyno: |
Here are a few Myths and Facts about SHW 1.Myth: SHW is a crime of morality and sexuality. Fact: Sexual harassment is a power play made by men towards women who they wish to subjugate. The man in question may not be attracted to the woman, but wishes to exhibit his power over her. A man will never subject a person who wields more power than him, to harassment. For example, a professor will intimidate a student or junior colleague, but not his seniors or his boss. 2.Myth: If it is not physical, then it is NOT sexual harassment. Fact: Touching, groping, brushing by, standing ‘too-close’ are definitely SHW. Comments of a vulgar, sexual nature, staring suggestively, personal remarks, lewd comments, use of descriptive slang words, crude jokes, inappropriate questions are also sexual harassment. And the Law is very clear about this. So, the next time, a colleague comments on the fit of your clothes or forwards a joke which has sexual connotations, this IS sexual harassment. Emails, Whatsapp forwards, pornography, suggestive pictures left on the desk, invitation to dinner or to sit closer, etc. are not physical, but ARE nevertheless SHW. 3.Myth: The Woman should have objected to the SHW instantly. A late reaction does not count. Fact: Very often, (as in all such crimes) the woman is intimidated, ashamed, stunned, embarrassed and afraid to speak out. This does not mean that she is unaffected. Humiliation and shame, plus the very real fear of being ostracized, or worse, fired from the job or not being believed by others keeps women from speaking out. The financial need for the job is also a compelling factor. And, often the perpetrator is counting on this! 4.Myth: Women (especially single ones) enjoy being the object of sexual remarks. A NO may actually mean a YES. Fact: A joke between friends of long duration is very different from a sexual remark made by a colleague or boss. A woman who dislikes something will signify this with her body language, words or behaviour. And, men should learn to respect that. And NO, single is NOT synonymous with ‘available’. 5.Myth: Only women from certain classes and jobs are subject to SHW. Fact: All working women across the entire spectrum, from those in the corporate sector to the daily wage labourer, are vulnerable to this. The house maid fending off the advances of her ‘Seth’ and the aspiring singer who is told to ‘entertain’ the producer are equally affected. The fact is that these crimes are largely under-reported. Some studies suggest that nearly 50% of working Indian women (as high as 88% in some sectors) have been a victim of or encountered SHW at some time or the other. 6.Myth: Women who dress provocatively invite sexual harassment. Fact: We are back to the old ‘done-to-death’ excuse for all such crimes. What a woman wears does not signal her morality. If dress was so important, then female labourers and women wearing traditional dress should be spared, isn’t it? Mindsets need to change, not women’s fashions. 7.Myth: Any woman who steps out of her home to work is fair game for ‘friendly’ behaviour (Otherwise she should have stayed at home). Fact: Regressive ideas like this belong in the middle-ages! A safe workplace is a basic human right. 8.Myth: Women who make complaints are attention-seeking. Fact: Actually, the opposite is true. Women are so afraid of making an official complaint, that it takes a lot of courage to actually speak out. Often they publicly accuse their perpetrators only when all subtle means have failed. 9.Myth: Complaints can be made only if there is an Internal Complaints Committee for women in place. Fact: ALL complaints have to be investigated and dealt with expeditiously. Committees should be set up, if not done so already. The Law makes it mandatory for all workplaces (including Government, private, NGOs, hospitals, etc.) to have such a Committee in place. 10.Myth: Having gender sensitization training and workshops for improving gender equality implies that sexual harassment exists in your organisation! Fact: On the contrary, this step, in fact, proves that the organisation is committed to keeping the workplace safe for their female employees. It was after a long, hard and tedious legal and legislative process, that India has a Law against Sexual Harassment in The Workplace. It is still largely a man’s world. The struggle for safety from harassment in the workplace has barely begun for Indian women. We have a long way to go! |
A man has been decapitated by attackers brandishing Islamist flags at a French factory near Grenoble, according to officials. The severed head had Arabic writing scrawled across it and was found on a fence next to two jihadi banners, a French official said. Two other people were hurt in explosions at the factory, French President Francois Hollande said. The blasts were triggered when two attackers deliberately crashed a car into gas canisters, according to police. Reports said a 30-year-old man had been arrested. He is understood to have been known to foreign intelligence services. Attackers reportedly carrying Islamist flags are said to have rammed a car into the building, setting off an explosion. He is understood to have been known to foreign intelligence services. French attack Picture of the scene (ledauphine.com) Le Parisien reported gunshots and that one Islamist had been killed at the premises in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, southeastern France. Le Dauphine newspaper reported that police are hunting for another man associated with the attack. One witness called Caroline, from a neighbouring factory, said: "I heard a really loud noise. Fire engines arrived with the police. "We thought it was a motorway accident." French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said security was being tightened at "sensitive sites" in response to the attack. Mr Hollande is returning to France from the EU summit in Belgium. Speaking from Brussels he described the attack as "terrorist". "The president saw the first images of the attack on the 24-news channels with German Chancellor Angela Merkel beside him, who was visibly shocked," an official added. The two leaders had just ended a short meeting with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said he would go "immediately" to the scene. David Cameron has spoken to Mr Hollande in Brussels to express his sympathies. Downing Street described the attack as an "appalling incident". Video: Why Pick 'Chemical Valley'? Employees at the factory - Air Products - are said to be "very shocked". Air Products is an American chemical company based in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Henry Samuel, a correspondent for the Daily Telegraph, told Sky News: "The person arrested was allegedly carrying a flag of the Islamic State and he said he was a member of the IS." The attack came nearly six months after the Islamist attacks in and around Paris that killed 17 people in January. Those attacks started with a shooting at satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. Sky's foreign affairs editor Sam Kiley said: "There has been a concerted effort by Islamic State to reach out to their followers in France and exhortations to conduct this sort of attack. "We saw with the Charlie Hebdo attack these were also self-starter individuals who had had training from al Qaeda in Yemen. "One of the three said he was there on behalf of Islamic State, the other two claimed membership of al Qaeda. "In a sense it doesn't matter. What matters is that people are inspired to carry out terrorist attacks." |
