Come to think of it, you could pin Barca’s success in the last decade (and dominance over Madrid on the local scene) on Messi’s brilliance. I was just wondering if Barcelona would’ve won anything post-Ronaldinho if Messi didn’t join up.

Every Barcelona dominance has a talisman.

Guardiola's era lasted 1992-94.

Rivaldo's era lasted 1999-2001

Ronaldonho's era lasted 2004-06

Messi's era is from 2008-date... That's 11 years running.

If Messi didn't rise, another talisman would, and there would be @ least a UCL win since 2006 when Ronaldinho waned.

But Messi's era is well over a decade, and that's why many call him the GOAT.

Messi is a great goal scorer and chief orchestrator of goals. If Messi doesn't score, other strikers must compliment his effort to deliver UCL.

Our past UCL wins centre on Messi + strikers' output. Take for example,

2009: Messi, Eto'o, Henry = 100 goals (Messi highest with 38)

2011: Messi, Villa, Pedro = 97 goals (Messi highest with 53)

2015: Messi, Suarez, Neymar =121 goals (Messi highest with 57)

But we've seen some years where Messi scored as high as 91 goals, yet, we failed to win UCL all because others strikers were poor in output. That's why I'll never spare our top striker Suarez for failing to score a single goal in 2 years of UCL.

That's why Argentina will not win a trophy because strikers like Aguero, Higuain deliver poor output every year, and leave the work load on Messi alone.

Take Messi to Bayern and YES, he'll boost their chances of winning UCL every year. If others strikers can finish Messi's creative work, UCL is 100% guaranteed.

Messi is the reason Barcelona is playing Man United in Q/F this season. Messi is the reason man united fans are not boasting of beating Barcelona despite the flaws in our play.

well I think there has always been a reliance on Ronaldo to score but maybe not to create. Passing to Messi to score or create, passing to Ronaldo to score, what's the difference?
