Goodluck with your Nigerian business. Not everyone is suited to do business. Even in super wealthy capitalist countries, not everyone does business.

Then one lives with very high risk. One sickness and everything saved blows up. Not me.

Simple reading and comprehension. The $30K to $70K salary is the MONTHLY pay for many drilling engineers right there in Nigeria. And that's not hearsay, because I've seen the paychecks with my own two eyes. Reread the post and get the gist of the issue which is this - how many people earn like that in Nigeria? To say, it's unjustified to use such high earners as examples of Nigerian success.

The more important question should be - how many in Nigeria can afford to live at a world recognized & reasonable middle class standard?
I've lived in Nigeria and I can tell you it's not up to 1% of the population.

I've figured out by means I will not disclose, that most of the anti-migration crew on this forum live in Nigeria and have NEVER travelled out of the country. But just start by going over their posting history. It's an eye opener. It's hard to tell LIES consistently.

If you're living well in Nigeria, good for you. Ex-President Buhari, President Tinubu, Peter Obi and Abubakar Atiku and their families seem to PREFER the US & UK so I'll follow their lead. At least I know who they are.

Good Luck !

Those guys must be lucky. I've had both uncle's and acquaintances who have worked in Mobil to Shell,Escarvos drilling fields and they didn't earn a fraction of this figure

Don't let anybody deceive you not to japa o,

A friend who sold all his properties and japa to UK on a student visa with his wife and four kids, just in two years of being in the UK with student Visa, he now has two four star hotels in lekki and five duplexes in ajah and lekki areas of Lagos generating rental income for him steadily. Just in two years ooo, this is someone who borrowed money to travel after selling all his properties and he couldn't raise enough fund at the time.

If he can achieve all that just in two years, now imagine what he would have achieve in four years.

To achieve all this in just two years is not the standard for judging the society. You better be careful. People won't tell you what exactly they do to make money but would want to stimulate your appetite to become a thief. If everyone could make this within this timeframe in UK, the whole world would be in UK by now.

The goal is consistent profitability and this can be built anywhere in the world

Same here. I was a remote worker earning well and saved enough to leave but not many people had the opportunity. I know so many people still looking for roles. Just because you had it good doesn't mean others do.

I always have this mentality

Just because you had it good doesn't mean others do.

I've dumped the idea of traveling out to building businesses here. If people changed their mentality to buuidking businesses here, they'll be better off

So much uninformed people in this thread.

I know people who arrived in the last 12 months that have had to exchange naira to Pounds to buy basics like milk bread and eggs to feed their family occasionally when there is no work.

Mostly do Amazon warehouse jobs, on their feet for 8 to 12 hours straight, Care work if they can manage to find one, remember 1000s have been admitted into the UK in the last 12 months on the tier 2 care work visa hence agency care work shifts aren't as available as before.

Life is tough even for long term residents cost of living crisis and aftereffect of Brexit is just kicking in.

Don't spend 10 million naira to japa, it's not worth it for a lot of people.

I keep asking why people would have to spend 10M Naira just to travel out when they can setup businesses with that figure and fork out up to 30M annually on a 10M investment.

It's the mentality, people don't want to invest in their country, but prefer to splash it on frivolous travel trips

Don’t mind them . I have a brother in the UK packing snow and earns £3.5M per month. That’s £42M per year o. About 3.7 billion naira per year. Truth is Nigeria is a scam. Anyone that has the means to japa should do so

No one earns 3.5M pounds packing snow per month. Abeg relax joor

Even in the tech hes calling only around 5 percent are lucky to get good paying remote jobs. Majority have no jobs.

That's not true. I've been a remote worker for eight years and have enjoyed very good Regular income eight years running

It's not that they're more intelligent than us. But the thing is that their ancestors went across the world conquering and robbing innocent people. Upon that (and the most important) they changed the languages, education, Gods in other lands, so that those they conquered can never exceed them.

Whoever gives you language, education, religion would control you, in fact, our psyche is being controlled right here in real time as we process our thoughts and communicate in the language they gave us.

But it's not as if someone didn't foresee all these. Once the UK began nursing the idea of exiting the European Union, I set off an alarm bell warning Africans right here on Nairaland on what to expect. And that's exactly what's happening in the UK today.

I made it clear that there's no way the UK can survive outside of the European Union without resorting to some sort of re-enslavment of black people. I've researched how they operate and fool people around the world and it was very clear to me from the beginning what they'll do. If you go back to my threads here you'll see warning posts or go to my blog www.africason.com and read the article that says "it's time to abolish the common wealth of nations". That's where I summarized what they're about.

The British and French secret services traced me to Benin republic after I wrote that article- using black people!!

The problem now is that when told let's be free indeed, let's reclaim our languages, education, religion, we refuse because they've messed up our minds in such a way that we're unable to see reality beyond what they've imposed.

Why should we believe this. Haba

Let me be brief abt it.
I came to Abuja last year January and was looking for job till September before I got a Security job which the pay is 18k but now 20k, The job is one week on, one week off. Since I started the job, I don't have any savings bcus the money is not enough, feeding, transport and other things swallow the money, so no savings till now..

I'm a graduate of elect elect,

I'm planing to be using my one week off to learn a skill next year, the Advice I need now is,
What digital or non digital skills can I learn within six months?
Or should I leave the security job and search for another job?
I'm just tired of the all whole thing.

Note: I'm the first born of the house, so many responsibilites are on me..

Thanks for opinion in anticipation!

Sure! Even for some parts of Awoyaya area (around Container Bus Stop), Baba dem dey operate once a while. But if you compare the frequency and the audacity with which criminals operate on the mainland to the Island. You will understand my point. It's just like comparing Nigeria to England in terms of safety. You'll agree with me that as much as England is adjudged to be safer than Nigeria, criminal activities do happen there as well.

Bottom line is that Island is like England while mainland is like Nigeria. cheesy cheesy

This one is new ..

I've been saying this for some time now. The answer is simple. It is easier for three men to contribute and clear 10,000 Naira bill than one guy to donate it once

Most people idea of island does not go beyond Ajah.
I lived the greater part of my life on the mainland. Before the Lagos Badagry express way was constructed it was hell for people living on that axis. I could remember trekking from volks to Okoko because of the terrible roads. I visited the mainland this February and we were robbed in the traffic between Barracks gate to volks. I still have scars from that robbery episode. I get panic attacks when I remember it. We all can't live on the mainland.
With the 2nd phase of the road construction project project from Eleko junction to Abraham Adesanya the traffic issues will soon ease off. This area is gradually developing and has prospect.
My family's little investment here will still be beneficial to my children in the nearest future.

On the food aspect, people still go to Epe to restock for the month. Kara market is even closer than Epe. So living is a choice!

It is easier and faster for me when traveling outside Lagos. I'd get to my destination before anyone travelling from the mainland.

On people who choose to livie fake lives,it's their choice.
This part of the island is not as congested as people think.
We get fresh air from the ocean atleast free from the pungent gutter smell that is synonymous with 'Lagos'.

Awoyaya, Bogije and beyond. All this isn't lekki phase four na. You're not even on the map of Lagos cheesy
