And let me add someone, Jesus Christ. forget the fact that he had a religion named after him and all that. With all those things we read in the bible I'm sure it would be wonderful to sit across the table and chat with him about issues like Nicodemus and Zacheuss did. I still chat with him in the spirit tho.

Nigeria's corruption has gone beyond gender. If women have not featured in Nigeria's as leaders @ least they have been 1st ladies and we can see just how much good that has done us. IMO whether man or woman same thing. Anybody here thinks NOI is a Nigeria I think she must be a citizen of the world bank.

OP i will say it depends on what you discuss with them. I met a lady who wanted to just talk about herself her ambition and her dreams I just let her talk on and we had had a long and interesting conversation. A lot of guys try to impress women with their talk instead of actually conversing with them

Literature › Re: Why Are You A Writer by deebayour(m): 2:19pm On Mar 01, 2012
I write because I have soo much stuff floating in my head and I just want to empty them somewhere, where I can watch each idea take a distinct form. Like Tolstoy, if I do not write, I may go crazy. Money , fame, etc are all secondary issues.

Literature › Re: Yoruba Language-history by deebayour(m): 11:42am On Mar 01, 2012
According to the little history we have, the people who are collectively known as Yoruba today, were just a collection of city states and Empires, who did not have much interaction beyond occasional wars and trade. So it is difficult for them to agree on stories of their origin. The name YORUBA itself, is reputed to be a either a corruption or contraction from a name that was given by a Hausa or Fulani leader (depending on who you ask) upon first contact with the northerners. this is why up till now a lot of people who even though speak the standard dialect, prefer to claim ethnicity of their localities, rather than call themselves Yoruba. this is why one runs into a brick wall, when writing Yoruba history before the 17th century. What is the Standard Yoruba that everyone speaks today, gained widespread acceptance when Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther translated the English Bible to Yoruba in the 1860s.and as Ajayi Crowther was from Oyo, his own dialect will be the basis for his work. That is why a close study reveals that Standard Yoruba is close to the Oyo dialect than any other dialect. the answer to your question then, will be that. that there was no Yoruba language. Each town spoke its own dialect, like Egba (Abeokuta in Ogun State) Oyo (a large part of Oyo state), Ondo (Ondo State), Ijesa (Ilesa and its environs in Osun State) etc
