Hmmm. When I look at the level of failed and failing marriages in our society today, it is not unrepresentative of our attitude and believe. Aside the fact that people do not understand marriage generally, one of the most disturbing contribution to this issue of failed marriage is the Nigerian woman.

I believe you should finish this post before you label me a chauvinist. My reason is simple, our ladies once they clock 25 (or even before) becomes "panicky" and desires to get married at all cost. In so doing, they not only knowingly settle for less but they also in fact foresee a breakup. Unfortunately, at the end, because of the way the Nigerian society is fashioned, they suffer the most. A man who drinks and smokes, womanises, do not think you are good enough to change that. A man who is violent is violent. A man who is insecured is insecured, etc and vice versa.

Marriage is beautiful and has this satisfactory feeling it gives to individuals who are prepared and who have also planned life after the wedding, however, let me state clearly and without the fear of being contradicted that majority of our people do not plan the marriage, they only plan the wedding.

There are a lot of grumbles inside those four walls, a lot of regrets and second thoughts, a lot of physical and emotional betrayals on going around us. But for those who are yet to walk that path, patience, planning, understanding, respect is key. Of course, all these are what I call love.

Lastly, if you are not ready, take your time. Spare that handsome guy, the beautiful girl, that innocent guy or lady etc some trouble. Marriage is not for everyone. But then again, a question begging for answer is how do one know if marriage is their thing?. Guess it's a gamble and we just have to give it a shot and hope for the best.
