Politics › Re: North Got Lion’s Share Of World Bank Projects Under Buhari — Documents by Deeldorado: 7:59am On Oct 15, 2017 |
eduj: the above is a misnomer. The naira was introduced on 1 January 1973, replacing the pound at a rate of 2 naira = 1 pound(20 pounds then would be 40 naira). base your argument on how 40 naira (it's present value then) was enough -you have a higher chance of winning the argument -then basing it on a figure (future worth) you got without recourse to variables like inflation, standard of living etc. like I said earlier, don't think any easterner saved his 20 pounds for over 30 years so that it would yield thousands in naira-hence your analogy is wrong. The point we are missing here is that the so-called 20 pounds was not given to every Igbo man. 20 pounds was given to only people who had money in their bank accounts without minding if you had 20,000 pounds in the account before the war. It was a systematic way of impoverishing Igbos but it failed because Igbos rose above it. |

Ovela1: This headline is twisted, when yu read the content carefully, yu will realise that the World Bank has embarked on 7 Projects in The North and 7 Projects in the South, so why de hue and cry over nothing?
My advise to Igbo youths is that they should stop seeing themselves as second class citizens in this country, we are all equal Nigerians with all the rights.
They must not continue to denigrate themselves, insulting everybody else, it's not the way to go! Lies. Seven projects exclusively for the North and the other seven projects for the whole country (meaning Northern states shared from the remaining seven projects too). Nigeria is unequal. Some Nigerians, particularly from certain regions, 'are more equal' than others. It's either we end marginalisation and exclusion or allow Igbos their right to self-determination. That's the way to go. |

otil1: No! You got it wrong.
Biafran got £20 for any amount whatsoever they left in their bank accounts, even if you have £1billion!
Those without bank deposits got nothing. So it's not like £20 compensation. It's a mark down to £20.
Confirm it! This is why we should teach history. You have just said the correct thing. The tragedy of not teaching History in Nigeria. See how they are turning history upside down. It was a policy to impoverish Igbos forever combined with the abandoned properties phenomenon but Igbos are better for it today, because it made them resourceful and thick. |

bolanto24: If no state is cheated from the resources they produce in the north or from the resources from the south?
After creating more local governments, and thereby having more members in the national assembly to checkmate the south, they are here talking about been cheated.
They are just afraid the feeding bottle is about to be taken away from their mouths.
They should gear up ooo cos they'll soon have to work for what they spend. No more lording it over us with their population and bringing nothing to the table.
Bloody parasites. My brother, you just hit them hard. Cheated from resources generated from where? If he is talking about the North being cheated from resources generated from the North, I will listen to him. All these Northerners are one and the same, you would think some are sensible but they are not. |

It's not a case of disproportionate share of resources, it's about being productive and generating your own resources and using it to serve your development needs. The North should wean itself of over reliance on Niger Delta oil. Build your own local economy and empower your people my friend. |

nony43: They simply can't match the standards there The cost of doing business in SA is also high particularly for wages and salaries. Plus, a lot of buildings in SA are also constructed with bricks not made from Cement. He has to invest a lot of money to set that company on the path of profitability. I think they didn't do enough initial market research before announcing their interest. I would prefer he focuses on his refinery and petrochemical plant and deliver that one first. |

bakynes: You are right no selective justice shd b done but let them do the justice for their perceived enemies, when they are out of govt another govt too will do justice to them so at the end ,all the thieves we gradually be cleansed from the system but we have to start from somewhere even if it is selective justice.
You can't leave a thief you have the chance to catch today just because you didn't have the opportunity to catch one yesterday. That's not how to run an effective anti-corruption campaign. The idea of waiting for another government to fight a separate set of thieves you can't fight because they belong to your party or ethnic group sounds pathetic. It's only in Nigeria people say things like that. |

Yes, Patience Jonathan has to be brought to account but that should apply to everyone else on the wrong side of the law. No selective justice. A situation where some animals are more equal than others (eg Babachir Lawal and Oke if NIA) is not acceptable. |

The best option is for him to resign and leave the clueless administration. Imagine the NNPC GMD sidelining the Minister. Northern hegemony at work. Buhari's nepotism cannot allow for the best hands in any parastatal. It is only in government that Northerners excel more than everyone but can't compete in anything else. This administration failed before it started. To think I supported Buhari's election, refused to compromise my integrity as a corps member acting as presiding officer, declared free zobo for all corpers in my lodge when he won hoping for better governance, only for Buhari to show his true colours and fall my hand. I have learnt my lesson the hard way. |
