I definitely agree with him on looking inwards, improving local content and promoting made in Nigeria. My frustration is that it cannot be done by coercion and this government is not leading by example. The Honourable Minister should use incentives to drive the kind of behavioural change he envisages.

Omo, with this team, Etisalat will bounce back. This is the best you can get. Bickersteth is no longer heading KPMG though. He retired last year. Ken Igbokwe has retired from PwC too. Both are veteran consultants that you can bring in to reverse a bad situation.
InvestmentRe: Legitimate Investments You Can Make In Nigeria by Deeldorado: 11:37am On Jul 04, 2017
MathsChic:
Hello All,

We have seen the rise (and of course fall) of sundry get-rich-quick investment schemes which all have the tinge of MMM to it. Though many have not learnt and continue to invest their hard-earned (perhaps not!) cash in these schemes, most who have been burnt and burnt hard have practically desisted from maintaining accounts with these Ponzi and pseudo-Ponzi investments. For those who have been burnt but who still seek to invest in legitimate concerns, please read on...

Today, I'll share with you a few verified means of actually making real money in Nigeria. These are not schemes with interest rates of 50 or 100%; not the types where you lose your money. Instead, they preserve your principal and actually help you rake a decent interest over your savings.

1. Fixed Deposit (6-10% annually)
You make fixed deposit investments with virtually all banks in Nigeria. Depending on such bank, you can reap interests of between 6-10%. Your negotiating power also comes into play. And should you boast sizeable savings in the million range, you could make something really worthwhile over several months. Fixed deposit investments are typically long term investments, are compounded and your bank can provide you with a monthly report on how your investment is growing.

2. Treasury Bills (~18% for 365 days)
You can make up to 18% in a year with treasury bills. For the long term investor, clearly this seems a better bargain than fixed deposits. Enquire from your local bank how you can invest in treasury bills. Though they may hesitate a bit in providing directions, continual persistence always makes them yield.

3. Mutual Funds (varying rates, ~15% on the average)
There are a host of investment firms offering the opportunity to invest in mutual or guaranteed funds. These investment firms basically help coordinate your funds by strategically placing it in treasury bills, bonds or fixed deposits, while taking their cut off the profits it yields. You should certainly consider putting your millions in these investments if you are the typical long term investor. Some of these firms are ARM, First Bank Capital, Stanbic IBTC investment arm, etc. Google them

4. Farmcrowdy (sundry offers such as 15% in 5 months)
Farmcrowdy helps connect sponsors with farmers. As a sponsor you put some money into Farmcrowdy which they in turn provide to farmers who farm with the money and generate profit. Farmcrowdy then refunds you your principal with interest. Quite a beautiful idea.
Watch on www.farmcrowdy.com when they make new farms available. Apparently, the farms are selling real fast, with the farms often selling out in less than a day on their sites. The good thing: your money is insured, i.e. should the farm or farmcrowdy fail, you are certain to get your money back, but without interest. However, that has not happened so far since the firm started operations.

I hope these help smiley
I have a similar business idea like Farmcrowdy MathsChic. Can I email you to share your input? Thanks

CelebritiesRe: FG Plans 5-year Jail Term For Celebrities Who Evade Taxes by Deeldorado: 12:55am On Jul 03, 2017
This is one policy I was waiting for. Celebrities should pay their taxes just like others. Apart from the fact that it is the absolute right thing to do, it will also reduce unnecessary flaunting. Too many people earning huge incomes, using public services but not paying taxes.

But public services must be improved to make people feel good paying taxes.

I support the policy on the whole.

EducationAlleged Bus Scandal: OAU Students Fight, Beat Up Union President by Deeldorado(op): 10:41am On Jun 30, 2017
The students of Obafemi Awolowo University on Thursday engaged themselves in a free for all over controversies surrounding the purchase of a bus worth N2.5 million by the Students Union.
Trouble had been brewing since the union acquired the bus under controversial circumstances. The bus was to be used as a commercial tr‎ansport shuttle around the university.
Findings by PREMIUM TIMES, however, showed that claims by the union’s Financial Secretary, Omisakin Kehinde, that the bus was purchased for N2.9 million did not tally with the actual value of N2.5 million written on the receipt.
The union had to change their narration on the purchase upon the discovery, accepting that it paid only N2.5 million for the bus.

The President of the union, Oyekan Ibukun, called a congress on Thursday, following the demand of students asking to be addressed on the issues.
He was however ruffled when it was demanded that he step aside from presiding over the congress in view of the allegations against his leadership.
Mr. Ibukun rebuffed the move, resulting in a fight among the students.
The students fought in different locations within the campus, while Mr. Ibukun was beaten up with his clothes torn in shreds.

The wild fight could not be curtailed by the university’s security team, as they watched helplessly the parade of the union president by students who accused him of fraud in the bus purchase.
“Lots of aberration have been committed by the president and I am not even aware of the bus scandal. Iwas not notified before the bus was bought,” the Speaker of the Students Representative Council, Falaye Tope, said, while reacting to the crisis.
“I am not responsible for the crisis. It is beyond me, as you can see, I have not intervened in it all.”
The president and the speaker had been at loggerheads before the incident.
Attempts to speak with the president was not successful as the students union security council members whisked him away in the middle of the uproar.

The University Public Relations officer, Olarewaju Abiodun’s phone line also failed to connect as at the time of filing this report.

95% of Nigerians have heard and know where Niger delta is. Whether igbos are there changes nothing. There are many tribes there too. It is very distinct from the south east. South south is Edo, Rivers state, Delta state, Akwa ibom state, Bayelsa state, and cross river state. The real Niger Delta is Delta state, Akwa ibom state, Rivers state and Bayelsa. Imo state, Ondo state and Abia state where only included in Niger delta by Obasanjo as oil producing states, they are not real Niger delta in the sense of it
Bros, she has a more compelling argument.
CareerRe: Stop Calling Everyone An Entrepreneur by Deeldorado: 9:47am On Jun 29, 2017
Not entirely correct. One thing leads to another. Most entrepreneurs started out as ordinary tradesmen or doing what other people were doing till the blazed their own trail. The important thing is improving your endeavour until you build it to become a distinguished brand. It is actually start-ups that drive innovation.

I don't buy the islamisation talk but the argument CAN made was that students were to choose between French and Arabic studies, but since most schools lack French teachers, they would invariably be forced to offer Arabic studies.

PoliticsRe: Photo Of Atiku Abubakar Wearing Rolex In The Farm Got Tongues Wagging by Deeldorado: 12:45am On Jun 23, 2017
The attack is not warranted. He doesn't need to go there tattered. He doesn't have to do the work himself- all he needs to do is to put the investment down. And he is doing it well. He is one of the few elite politicians investing at home. No other politician matches him. AUN would probably have been more profitable if sited in Abuja but he decided to site it in his native Adamawa. And he employs more people than the Adamawa state government.

I admire Atiku for quite a number of reasons - his larger-than-life attitude, his sagacity and ability to get things done especially in his business. I reckon also that he's very organised.

If Atiku can bring these strengths to governance without a selfish attitude, I believe he has what it takes to solve, say the power problem.

He appears cosmopolitan too - not parochial at all and his team reflects he is comfortable working with anybody no matter where you're from.

Not exactly advocating an Atiku presidency, but I see some leadership lessons for myself especially in terms of his pragmatism.

I also think he may have been largely misjudged a lot no thanks to OBJ's efforts to malign him because he was a 'tough' Vice President.

He may not be innocent but no inquiry, not even the one set up by his former boss has found him guilty of any misdemeanour.

laudate:
Good question. cheesy Anyone who has the answers should please share them with us. The Nigerian govt will make a lot of money from entry visas, CERPAC, residents permit, work permit etc. annually, once the Biafrans decide to return to Nigeria.cool Don't forget that many of them still want to eat their cake and have it. They want to remain in Nigeria running their businesses, and at the same time they want to be citizens of their proposed newly-independent country.

What is the population of Biafrans among the Nd'Igbo serving in the federal govt agencies, institutions and parastatals? One needs to look at it. undecided They cannot continue working in sensitive positions and agencies, since they would no longer be citizens of Nigeria. They would have to relinquish those posts, for bona-fide Nigerians, don't you think so? shocked
Well, I'm not an advocate for a Biafran state but an advocate for a more meritocratic and inclusive system in Nigeria that promotes equal opportunities for all. If there is a Biafran Republic however, the scenario you painted will not occur because it will become the 17th member of ECOWAS whose treaty allows for the free movement of labour, capital and other factors of production across member states.
RomanceRe: Man and Woman are different.. Nothing like Gender Equality by Deeldorado: 1:57am On Jun 20, 2017

Bro I personally encourage treating ladies fine, as they are God's creature too.
But a woman is structured to born and nurse her child, support her husband.
Who ever encourage her sister to climb palm trees with ropes or drive truck are just wicked. Men are structured to struggle to feed his wife and children not to be wanking everything on skirts
Bro, it is not in your place to 'personally encourage treating ladies fine.' The fight for reducing gender inequality is much bigger than the narrow mindset you are portraying here.

Talking about women's ability to be part of combat forces is a narrow way of discussing gender equality. There's a much bigger picture which I have tried to state already.
