Arrant nonsense. All the clamp down and abuse you did with DSS nko. You can afford to say this because Nigerians have a short memory. You presided over a government that swam in the pool of corruption.

A Nigerian wrote this??

It's your opinion.

But I smell 30 pieces of silver

Read the first statement that says 'You can criticize him on many grounds'. I have the freedom to like a particular trait in someone even if he/she is loathed and I have said I like Atiku's pragmatism. It's my choice, not yours and I know exactly what I'm saying.

Haba Nigerians, why do we forget things in a hurry? I don't believe a Nigerian can say this about Atiku. If Diezeni Maduike establishes companies tomorrow with her 90B dollars, people like you will still come back to Nairaland to praise her like a virtuous woman, good employer of Labour, helping the needy etc. you would have forgotten the bottom line and source of her wealth. We are encouraging corruption. Atiku, a civil servant that became a billionaire over night. The corruption you see in customs today was institutionalized by Atiku. The same way Babanjida complemented his effort to legalize it in the whole country. Let's use our heads Nigerian. Our Mumu don do.

Did you see my starting point? That you can criticize him on many grounds? I only highlighted what I also admire in his personality. Something that I could take away for myself as a lesson: his pragmatism.

That should actually be the theatre of operation python dance not in the East where a marginalized group is merely expressing their right for self-determination.

I would have said I liked his candidature for the presidency buh my concerns are that these people would do anything to look right in order to get into power buh you would be disappointed once they get into there

You can criticize him on many grounds but he is probably the most cosmopolitan and pragmatic Northern politician. He has also succeeded outside government via his businesses. He's also a very organised person - look at his family, the way he raised his children and the way he runs his companies. Atiku's Media Office is the best professionally run media office in the country.

He thinks home with his investments too. If he can honestly bring his pragmatism in business to governance, I believe he should make a difference. Emphasis is on 'honestly', you never know how humans will turn out at the end of the day. I also feel OBJ maligned Atiku unfairly and damaged much of his public repute and I think it was because he was a tough vice president not the usual weak vice presidents we are used to. Not that he was a saintly Vice President but Atiku also doesn't get recognized for the contributions he has made as a private citizen.

He's one of the few politicians I can actually pick a trait from despite the negative public repute - his pragmatism is quite outstanding.

That is what I'm talking about. If you are going for Masters, make sure you return home with PhD. Masters is half-baked. After Masters, you've not reached a wonderful conclusion on your subject area

Make sure, you don't do your PhD in UK. Move to US or Canada. Very easy to get PhD admission in USA or Canada if you bagged Masters from a UK school. 183k will meet your needs now but it won't very soon. Nobody will share stories of some people that return from UK and get fantastic job. Pay now, play later. Take the risk. This is not even risky. It's win-win

You know I never looked at your post before making my comment. Turns out we share exactly the same view. DanXplore, be pragmatic. Take the risk. Plunge in.
Career / Re: MSc In UK Versus N183k Job Offer: Advice Please by Deeldorado: 12:32pm On Sep 08, 2017
Go for the UK Masters (the exposure counts), try and squeeze some savings from your scholarship and while about completing your Masters, apply for a PhD position in a US, Canadian or Australian University and make a transition. Don't take the option of staying comfortable with what you have at hand and stay back in Nigeria.

Bro, you can do better than what you have now. Take that giant step. I'm an ex-KPMG too.

The headline is unnecessarily sensational. I think she's suffering from trauma from still being close to the place where she had a negative experience not necessarily because it's Atiku's school. Her concerns and feelings have to be taken seriously. Some other girls have graduated from AUN on Atiku's scholarship and are doing well for themselves.

Mor0nkiri is just being clever by half.

in that eagles squad the only northerner is Ahmed musa.
there was a single Yoruba player, ekong from CRS and Moses from Edo state. all other 8-10 players (are from the south east). I guess we can also call them Biafran eagles.

Yes Buhari's appointments have been lopsided. But this federal character thing will only keep pulling us back.

if we want to continue using federal Character let's make sure when the eagles are playing we have

-2 sw players, 2nw players, 2 se players, 2 Ss players, 2NC players at least on the pitch at all times.
- if a player from any region gets injured or has to be substituted then someone from his region must replace him
- if there is no one from his region them let him remain on the field.

that's how dumb federal principle is

I understand your argument but we must also ensure inclusiveness and take into account the sensitivity of our federation. We have to find that right balance between inclusiveness and meritocracy. The NNPC appointments did not take any of these into account especially with respect to the current mood of the nation.

The renovation story is pathetically false. An office that was renovated when he resumed office the first time. In fact, almost everything in the Presidential wing was renovated at inception.
Life has been very kind to Buhari. In saner climes, he would have resigned to recuperate and take a deserved rest and not constitute a cog in the wheels of a country he claims he loves. It's that simple.

Niger Delta is classified high risk area by most foreign government and advised citizens to stay away. Although Akwa Ibom is peaceful but it is still Niger Delta and those guys would obey their government directives.

I am in support of the lodge though that amount is outrageous

The fact is that if you do a proper cost-benefit analysis, you do not need that lodge.

joblessness grin grin grin

In as much as I'm not in support of building a brand new lodge bc we already have a dilapidated one that ought to be renovated at not more than N400m, we as a state need a lodge in Lagos state, infact even more than we need in Abuja...Lagos state remains the economic capital of Nigeria, there is no multinational company without either it's hqtrs or office in Lagos because that is their first landing point, most of the foreign investors when they arrived in Lagos will love to seek for some information about other states with potentials so their first point of call shld be the Akwa ibom house in Lagos...most countries like china, france, america etc has their embassy in both Lagos and abuja do you know why?

But my worries is there is a way the govt can make the place work to maintain its self, get a first class restaurant that sales only our food, get a world class library and galleries that are very rich with Akwa ibom history, in fact if well planned it can be a tourist site in another Man's land, there are more Akwa ibomites in Lagos than anywhere outside our state.

Draft a scale of preference for all that Akwa Ibom needs now including job creation, poverty reduction etc and tell me how a lodge in far away Lagos is the top priority.

He doesn't behave like the typical Nigerian politician.

Little noise. His private sector sojourn has really rubbed off on him. Sorry to those that don't like him. I want him to win.

His government owes the least debt in the country (if I am correct) and he doesn't owe salaries, even in this recession.

Him try abeg!

Share the praise with Obi who left a fiscally viable state in the first place.

What is the HDI (human development index) of the two states? That is how to compare not some political farming. By the way, a nation of farmers is a poor nation!

Kebbi is on track by exploring the area where they have a comparative and competitive advantage which is farming and value addition through processing. Their Human Development Indicators may not be high now but that's a major step towards linkage-based industrialisation, job creation etc. which will improve living standards in the future. What is Fayose doing to improve Ekiti on the basis of its comparative advantage apart from some lousy stomach infrastructure financed via feeding bottle oil rents from Abuja? Kebbi is undertaking strategic governance while Fayose is promoting lousy governance. That's the difference.
