Oluyole, Akobo, Elebu and it environments,Oni and son, Vodacies.

All the above mentioned areas get good power supply.

Dont mind someone telling you Ibadan people are cunning( they are still leaners compare to what you get in Lagos). Just dont mingle with them locals. Dont be too attached to anyone no matter how nice they are to you, at least till you are sure of who they are.

Thank you

So I am looking to move to Ibadan with my family asap from Lagos. I need suggestions on areas that enjoy light cos I have children who would need to be occupied by the tv during the day while I'm at work. I have been told the light in Ibadan is bad but even then I know some areas will still enjoy constant light... those are the areas I'm interested in...

Please help!!!

@lawyer help move to right section if wrong and if possible front page for better answers. Thanks chief

Oke Ado/Oluyole area have good power supply.

Having lived in Lagos you will find Ibadan less stressful but be wary of the average Ibadan man. They are very cunning.

Politics / Re: NERC: Discos To Pay For Rejecting Electricity by DeePsychologist(m): 11:58am On Sep 11, 2020
kikero:
Well, they would make the discos more broke then

The truth is, you cannot understand Nigeria's electricity problem without first knowing that the cost of power in Nigeria is less than the production cost.

Even with this recent price increase, a lot of people are still exempted from the thing, then there are the power thieves and those who don't pay

Once you get that, and you also get that gencos have to pay for gas in dollars, not naira, and they have to source for dollars from the open market because the parsimonious CBN won't give then dollars, then you would see why NERC s idea is stark bonkers

Either we run electricity as a proper market, where discos and gencos control the price, and end this NBET illusion, or we are never going to have light 24/7

And Nigerians have to pay their power bills. The problems we have with power are compounded by the large number of people who don't pay up

You can easily fight this by metering everyone so that people actually pay for what they use as opposed to arbitrary bills that puts the burden of payment on the few who actually pay up.

Car Talk / Re: How Do I Re-insert My Car Battery After Charging It? by DeePsychologist(m): 5:24am On Sep 14, 2017
autologic:

This doesn't require long epistle.
If you want to connect the battery ,standard practice and procedure require you to connect the positive terminal first before the negative terminal and if you are disconnect the battery it should be vice versa ie the negative should come out first before positive.
The essence of this is to protect the battery against accidentally short circuiting the positive terminal to the negative cos all the metallic body of the car has already been connected to the negative terminal.

Alright... thank you.

Replacing Your Battery

Changing a car battery is something that most people will be able to do themselves. The hardest part is usually to lift it out of the car once it has been disconnected because it's weight. Keep track of your battery's life and replace it before it leaves you stranded.

What You Need to Know

Ensure vehicle is turned off, emergency brake set, and in park
Take care not to spill battery acid on you, your clothing, or paint

Make sure you're connecting the wires to the correct battery terminal

Procedure

With the engine off, pop the hood and find the battery. Detach the negative (black) battery cable from the battery. First loosen the nut with a combination wrench. A better tool to use would be battery pliers or a battery wrench.

Twist and pull up on the end of the cable with your hand. If it does not come off easily you may want to purchase a battery terminal puller. This will help prevent damage to your battery or cables. It is not recommended to use a screwdriver as a pry-bar; this could break off your battery terminal or cause other damage.

Detach the positive (red) battery cable from the battery using the same method.

Using a combination wrench or a socket and ratchet, remove the battery hold-down clamp.

Take the battery out of the battery tray. Batteries are heavy, so grab from the bottom using both hands. If the battery has a handle, use that instead.

Use either a battery cleaning solution or the baking soda and water mixture to thoroughly clean any corrosion that may be left behind on your battery tray and hold down clamp from your old battery.

Clean the battery cable connectors with a wire brush. To remove heavy corrosion from the connectors, use battery-cleaning solution.

Place the new battery in the battery hold-down tray and secure the battery with the hold-down clamp.

Spray both terminal ends with anti-corrosion solution.

Attach and tighten the positive battery cable (Red).

Attach and tighten the negative battery cable (Black).

Ensure that all cable connections/ hold downs are properly tightened. Check the security of your battery by trying to move it back and forth. If you can move the battery cable terminals at all, your car may not start due to a weak electrical connection.

Car Talk / How Do I Re-insert My Car Battery After Charging It? by DeePsychologist(m): 5:34pm On Sep 13, 2017
Hello.. this might seem like a stupid question to the car veterans but please indulge me.
I just had my first battery problems where I had to jump start using cables to get my car to start... got home and tried to start the car again after a few hours but it refused to come on due to same low battery.
I took it to a battery charger who has completed his job but to re-insert it into the car is my question here... is there a particular side that goes in first say +ve or -ve so it doesn't cause an electrical issue cos a friend of mine tried jumping another friends car recently and connected the cable wrongly i.e -ve to +ve which cost him a lot in repairs...
I would like to avoid that so please help out... which goes in first when inserting a battery... -ve or +ve or doesn't matter?
I appreciate your responses In advance.
Ciao
