Be it Nigeria or anywhere in the world, Engineering is the most difficult course to study. Medicine and Surgery only require longer years when you add internship and all sort (Requires lots of dedication too, but you only read, understand and pour back during exams). It’s nowhere near engineering when it comes to difficulty in learning. Engineering combines knowledge from physics, chemistry and mathematics e.t.c not to mention the unreal problems you have to solve that require you to think, think again and again. Students dropped out of Engineering because of the difficulty, so the drop out issue is not peculiar to medicine alone I can speak for Mechanical, Computer and Electrical Engineering...Infact, almost all engineering course has hours of Lab work/practical to go with it. Scheduling is always a nightmare. With engineering, you don't memorize answers for tests… how nice would that have been? You are given unreal problems to solve, with limited time to do so. Having to take 4 levels of Calculus… The correct list, from the hardest 1. Engineering: Mechanical, Civil, Electrical/Electronics, Chemical, Petroleum e.t.c Congratulations, engineers, now you finally have some proof for what you’ve been telling everyone all along: yours is the hardest major. From chemical to civil to electrical to mechanical, the courses you take in chemistry, physics, calculus, statistics, geology, biology, and other tough prereqs give you the lowest rate of As and the highest rate of Cs for any major. Because of this, the path has a notoriously high dropout rate some have pegged as high as 60% per year. 2. Life Sciences: It’s a rare student who doesn’t find at least one or two concepts that trip him up in cell biology class. The life sciences include anatomy, biochemistry, neuroscience, biology, genetics, zoology, and more tricky subjects, landing this field just behind engineering on the low GPA spectrum. Many graduates of a life sciences path go on to careers in the medical, dental, or veterinary fields, which famously require as many as seven or eight more years of difficult schooling, internship, and residency after a bachelor’s degree is earned. 3. Physical sciences: Physics, chemistry, and geology all fold into this major, making it one of the hardest paths to take on in college. With the lowest percentage of students able to work full-time (more than 30 hours a week) and the fourth-lowest rate of students with GPAs over 3.5, majoring in this field proves to be a challenging undertaking. And the uphill battle doesn’t end after graduation. A glut of graduates, a poor economy, and a move toward cleaner energy has created a troubling outlook for chemistry majors. 4. Business & management: You may think what your boss does is not difficult at all, and you may be right; a degree in management is probably not what makes this category a difficult one. It more likely lands here thanks to the challenges of getting a degree in finance or accounting. Either way, the data shows well below half of business and management students are able to pull off a 3.5 or better, and they average the second-longest amount of time in which students complete their degrees. 5. Social/behavioral sciences: This category seems to be a popular choice for students seeking an easy A, but they could do so more easily by picking something else. The social and behavioral sciences encapsulate what are sometimes known as the “soft sciences”: psychology, economics, sociology, anthropology, and political science. Although they are much more closely related by GPA to some of the easy major entries than they are to engineering, the social and behavioral sciences house the fourth-lowest number of fulltime workers and are tied for shortest median degree completion time. For those shouting law, just accept it simply doesn’t rate as one of the hardest…You can even study law from home, Yeah! It’s that easy. |
Both are masters degrees but M.Sc. Public Admin is an academic masters and after completion, one can proceed to P.hD while MPA is a professional masters degree which is a terminal programme. Holders of MPA can't proceed to P.hD. Both are acceptable in both private and public sector except the academia where professional masters are not acceptable for lecturing. |
Hello guys, I’m an HND graduate of mechanical engineering and I wish to take up drilling as a career. I am no more a fresh graduate as I graduated in 2009 and I’ve been running my private business since then after all attempt to secure paid employment failed. Also, securing a trainee drilling engineer position is a bit difficult now because of my age; most trainee positions require younger applicants. After extensive research, I realized it’s a bit easier to break into the industry as a Roustabout. I need necessary advice and guidance as to how to go about it, the necessary training/certification to enroll in and where these trainings are administered here in Nigeria. I’ve researched two training institutions; PTI MUD School: http://www.ptimudschool.com/ and IDPE ASSISTANT DRILLER TRAINING PROGRAMME: http://www.idpe.org/public-learning/12-assistant-driller-training-programme.html I’ll need close to #600,000 to enroll for either of these courses so I want to be sure it’s a step in the right direction before I will cough out such amount from my business. Is it really worth it? Will any of these certificates really boost my chances of getting a job in any drilling coy in the shortest possible time? Do I just enroll for a Roustabout training programme and strive to get a job after the training as indicated above. What are my chances? Which training school can I enroll in for the roustabout training programme? Can you experts help me with any tips or advice which will help me get my career on track again? |
Geniero:I also need answer to this pls |
Each time I meet those University graduates who discriminate the HND, I'm always surprised all because I don't know why they feel threatened. What they stand to loose or gain from degrading the HND. If you examine this whole issue, you will realise its partly due to failure on the part of government as regards their policies and on the other hand misplaced priority on the part of the University system regulators/administrators/graduates. We all know our University system lack innovations, presently the percentage of implementable research from our Universities is close to zero. The so called scientist and engineers can't design or create new things, an indication that the system is fast failing. The polytechnic on the other hand who produce technical graduate though not well equipped to the optimum level in terms of practicals and equally underfunded still produce more relevant product who are to some extent more technically inclined. We all know the importance of technical education in a growing economy like ours. Discriminate the Polytechnic graduate anyhow you like, they are still the engine room that drives the economy when it comes to technical workforce. Furthermore, because the so called institution who produces students with universal knowledge, researchers who should discover and invent new product and ideas, engineers who are to design new products is also underfunded and lack innovations/standards, her graduates resulted to blackmailing the polytechnic products who obviously performs better because they perfectly fit into the middle level manpower they are trained for and our present level of development has little opportunities for researchers (not to forget chaep pay the ND/HND accept as against their university counterpart). The University system in Nigeria has since failed in its main purpose and since their products can't function or fit in properly into their role, they are forced to take up roles of the polytechnic graduate who is trained for middle level manpower as they claim hence, the competition... they suddenly discover the technical graduates are better. Today graduate engineer cannot design, they are left with no choice than to hustle technitian position to make ends meet in our little industries and too bad they still want to be the boss with near zero technical knowledge. why all these epistles? The discrimination is as a result of hatred, envy, lack of innovation/opportunity which has forced university graduates justle for the limited openings and failure on the part of the government. Nigeria is a sinking ship, so many things you'll imagine how its been done. Only reasonable people like Prof. W Soyinka will see the madness. Here is my analysis, all over the world the minimum number of credit unit to award a degree is 120. Before anyone in Nigeria will graduate with HND, he/she must have accumulated over 150 credit unit. The HND require 5 years before graduation as against 4 years for some B. Sc courses, yet people still blindly say its not equivalent to a degree. World Educational Services (WES) an international credential evaluation body has evaluated lots of HND results and found them equivalent to a US bachelor's degree and today, a lot of HND graduates are undergoing or have graduated from their masters programme in the US...they all gained admission with the Nigerian HND but we all know what is obtainable here... polytechnic graduates even with distinction will still have to enrol for PGD before masters, what happened to our common sense? These same hypocrites who said you can't enrol for an academic masters with your HND will admit HND for professional masters without PGD since its a terminal programme and due to the fact that they don't want the rubbished HND product to have an academic masters and PhD. why the hate? On a final note, I see the two certificate as two rotten apple. A lot still need to be done on our educational system which lack standard. HND or B.Sc, both products should be given equal opportunity to prove their worth. Our judgement should be based on individual capabilities and not certificate. Scrapping the HND and changing all polytechnic to universities will not help our economy as a developing nation as we are still in serious need of technical education. Thanks for reading. |
chymystique:Thanks. |
^^^^ pls what does HDPE mean? shed more light on this business pls. Thanks. |
Dozie730:Mechanical Engineering is not an easy course. Most technical courses people complain of here are offered by Mech. Dept. From Thermodynamics to fluid mechanics, mechanics of machines, Mechanical control systems and strenght of material. But, i really don't expect any mech student to complain of Engineering drawing...if you know your way and practice well, its always an "A" course. The only mech Engr. drawing course i find tough was Assembly Drawing...where you will be asked to draw an exploded view of a component or the assembled view of an exploded component(you have to explode or assemble in your head). Mehn! I went through hell before i made B |

chiboy429:HAVE YOU GRADUATED?.... Wait until you take FLUID MECHANICS IV, you will understand that Fluid Mechanics is no joke Laminar boundary layers. The-stoked equations and their approximation. Very slow motion and lubrication. Flat plate flow. Integral analysis. Similar solution. Approximate methods of solutions. Pressure gradient effects and separation. Transition: stability of laminar boundary layers to disturbances. Onset and development of turbulence. Turbulent boundary layers; means flow and fluctuations. Reynolds stresses, eddy viscosity and mixing length. The log-law. Smooth flat-plate flow and drag laws. Simple calculation methods. Free shear layers: laminar and turbulent mixing layers, jets and wakes. Compressible flow, mach number and mach waves. Stock waves and heat transfer, isotropic flow through ducts of varying area. Convergent divergent duct flow with normal stocks. Flow though constraint area ducts with and without friction. Unsteady gas dynamics and the method of characteristics. Blast waves and detonation. For me its Fluid Mechanics, STRENGTH OF MATERIALS II and APPLIED THERMODYNAMICS II . Ain't beans mehn! |

Hello, i operate an internet cafe...pls explain further what you mean by 100 per candidate. Are you saying you will give out the acces code and take 100 naira for submission (per candidate) after the offline capturing? If so, pls give me your e-mail address, i'm interested. |
what positions?....Level of Education, skills required? |
NANS? Bunch of over aged students with misplaced priorities that are tossed around by political jobbers. There was no protest instigating his removal from office when the strike was ongoing, just now that he is aspiring to become governor and some people are not happy about it…a protest was staged. This country is in deep mess if the students who are the leaders of tomorrow, who are supposed to stand by justice, integrity and honesty are busy politicking. I don’t like Wike either but the protest is meaningless, if it’s from stakeholders in the communities he plans to govern…then it’s reasonable. |
Ayexcel is legis. Also sells cheap. |

stop arguing with this OP. Just teach her English, I'm sure she failed in English comprehension all through her stay in school. I mean, did she really read that lady's post? This isn't a counter thread to that thread. The lady never mentioned it anywhere that ladies should settle for less. Her message was so apt... its so simple. Her advice was for ladies to look beyond physical appearance and learn to compromise. I'm still waiting to know what height and six packs offer in marriage and why ladies who marry short and plum guys settled for less. Even we guys too...I understand large ass and big breast enhances sexual pleasure but what does ladies with fine face, fair complexion and straight legs add to marriage. These are crazy desires, if you find love in a partner that possess all these then good for you but if not, it does not in any way portray you as settling for less. |
Have you ever spent any of these? what did you buy?
|
LEGIT....I bought 500MB today. |
Tayras: No one is perfect! prioritise n compromiseI did not mention it anywhere that I want a perfect partner. You think I’m asking for too much? It’s simply what I desire and there are a lot of ladies that fit into my description out there. |
ndidibabe: You are a learner. Just like you, no man or woman is perfect!!Please, point to me where I mentioned being perfect here? Simply say what I desire in my kind of woman is far higher than what you can offer, and then I’ll understand. No one is perfect and I’m not perfect too...but I’ve not asked for too much believe me. There are ladies that fit all that I described out there and I’m going to find one soon. So, stop hating. |
