Ezenwammadu:But no one can stop EFCC from presnting their case in court and no one can prevent the Media from carrying the news. How the case will go, only time will tell. |
He be like say the girl dont preagnant. Plus she looks like someone in her late thirties / early forties. In this day and age when spouses kill each other, we pray make una own no turn like that o. Children of the rich may be very difficult to handle. |
Ezenwammadu:This report emanates from events in the court . If only you read the report, you will realse that it is actually an EFCC official, who incidently in this case an Igbo guy, that was presenting evidence in court. Dont you want the media to report court proceedings again? |
BabbanBura:Here is the link: https://www.thecable.ng/infographic-drastic-drop-thailands-rice-export-nigeria The graph is right but curiously the importation of rice from Thailand to republic of Benin has also gone up significantly. |
lagbaja:1. The Minister actually made reference to the smuggling coming from neighbouring countries in his speech: The minister, however, alerted the nation on what he described as alarming smuggling of fake fertilizer and rice along the western borders of the country. He, therefore, called on the Federal Government to take drastic measures to check the trend as all previous diplomatic measures had failed to address the menace. “But one last request Mr President, we have to take one strong measure against our neighbour to the West. The smuggling is really compromising our capacity on our result. “Too much rice, too much fake fertilizer is still coming across the borders into this country in spite of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) we have with them they are not listening. “Maybe if the Federal Government take one tough action, they will come and renegotiate the terms because good neighbourliness means reciprocity. “We can’t be allowing them to survive at our own expense and I believe that we will do something about it,’’ he said. 2. On the rate of unemployment in Thailand, Audu Ogbeh was referring to what he was told by the Thai's ambassador to Nigeria. Also, if you look at 4 years historical data of Thai's unemployment figure, you will notice that it has generally gone up from about 0.9% in 2014 to 1.3% in 2017. Maybe this 0.4% increase is what the Thais ambassador and the Minister were referring to. We don't necessarily have to start calling each others liars and playing politics with everything. |
Yes o. Many other countries will soon join Thailand. By 2019, countries that we import PMS and other petroleum products from, will have to be looking elsewhere for their market Nigeria is no longer helping their economies while our own people are unemployed. Also countries where we import fertilizer from as well. Textile industry to follow. This is a revolution that is long overdue. Make Nigeria great Again (MANGA)

tempest01:I read your comment but I do not agree with them. Govt has put in place may initiatives and support for farmers and one of them is this anti smuggling activities of Govt. The people looking for short cut by involving themselves in smuggling foreign rice into the country can involve themselves into something legitimate. What they are doing is an affront on the laws of Nigeria. My prayer is that those who chose to involve in this activities will continued to be caught and they lose their investments. One day, they will run out option and learn to engage in legitimate business. Their activity is an act of sabotage to the efforts of Govt and to those who engage in rice farming. As I wrote earlier, every country do whatever they had to do to protect their local producers against those who wants to make their country a dumping ground, while its citizens are largely unemployed. Nigeria Govt is protecting local farmers from foreign and unpatriotic Nigerians. |
Desyner:This is why it is a waste of time engaging your type in any rational conversation. What brings about the above bolded statement of yours? Can you disagree with someone without resorting to use of vulgar and demeaning words? You are entitled to your opinion, and so am I. So learn to respect other people's views. That you have an opinion does not mean you are right in the eyes of the others. Many countries of the world including the present President of the USA are doing everything they can to protect their local economy and producers. Sometimes it involves outright ban of the products or increase in tariff in order to prevent importation. There is no other way to look at it, smuggling of products into the country is wrong. It does not take too much to be law abiding |
Half bread is better than puff puff. Any industry established is a plus to the Nigeria economy. |
kernel504:Can you back up your claims with verifiable facts? Can you provide answers to the following with links? 1. What is the price of crude 1999 to 2007? 2. What is the minimum wage and total budget of Nigeria between 1999 to 2017? 3 Can you name the infrastructure projects that the OBJ govt started, undertook or completed? |
tempest01:Where do one begins to explain these things to you as you got it all wrong. If local rice is more expensive, that is a pointer to serious citizens of the economic opportunty in local rice production. Please spend time researching issues rather than using it to express your sentiments and bias. No serious Govt will open their eyes and allow its country become a dumping ground for all manner of foreign goods that can be produced locally and its citizens are highly unemployed. This is not a sentimental issue but a common sensical one. |

shallysgirl:I read your comment but I dont agree with them. Thinking like yours is why it will be very difficult for an Igbo to become President. Uou need to change your line of thinking and convince others to change too. I know that is almost another impossible task. Jonathan from the minority tribe is President in 2011 despite North opposition. |

UfuomaUN:You have a point. Corruption among the Govt agencies like the Police, immigration, Customs etc is still very rife. Old habits they say die hard. But among the bad eggs, you still have some few honest ones like the Navy crew that intercepted this smuggled rice. Unlike before where it appears that it is a free for all, now, anybody involving themselves in this evil acts knows that he /she is taking a huge risk. Moreover, with this small, small control, local farmers will be able to grow and sell their products at competitive market price, which will encourage others to join in farming. Gradually, we will be weaning ourselves off imported staple food products until we reach the level of self sufficiency. We did not suddenly find ourselves as one of the most corrupt countries in the world and we will not exit that club overnight. It took us many years to get here, so exit will take time, but we are on the right track.. |

Lagos, Kano Govts Agree On Economic Partnership Channels Television Updated March 1, 2018 The Lagos and Kano state governments have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for economic partnership and to jointly explore investment opportunities in both states. The MoU, which was signed by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos) and Governor Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano) on Thursday, is aimed at creating jobs and facilitating growth and development. It also seeks to create a common platform for exploring, expanding and developing areas of economic development and investment. The governors signed the agreement at the closing ceremony of the inaugural Lagos-Kano Economic and Investment Summit in Lagos. Under the agreement, the two states have also set up a Technical Working Group to oversee the implementation of the objectives of the MoU. In her closing remarks at the summit, Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule, said the signing of the MoU by the governor was a clear testament of the commitment of both states to collaborate in the overall best interest of the people. She said the leaders, by the development, “are telling the entire world that collaboration, cooperation, partnership can always work to bring about economic sufficiency in our states and, of course, the entire nation.” While describing the summit as historic and successful, Adebule said the programme witnessed presentations from experts, erudite minds, scholars from both public and organised private sector with numerous positions expressed and outlined. “In this process, our minds have been availed with torrents of ideas, information, statistics, interpretation and above all vision and collaboration leading to economic sufficiency,” she said in a statement by the chief press secretary to Governor Ambode, Habib Aruna. “I am convinced that the most valuable outcome of this engagement is the fact that we have governors who have a vision and have the opportunity of sharing this vision. Today, we are not just sharing the vision but providing an enabling environment for this vision to be actualised,” the deputy governor added. According to the MoU, Lagos and Kano states agreed to expand the current level of economic and investment cooperation between them, especially in key areas of governance, security, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), agricultural value chain, tourism, education, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), as well as skills development. Other areas include commerce with a specific focus on ease of doing business and infrastructure in power, transportation, and urban waste management. The objectives of the MoU, among others, are to establish a formal and flexible framework between both states to expand trade and investment cooperation, foster scientific and technological collaboration for business development in emerging key sectors, strengthen communication, enhance trust, boost economic development and create jobs. https://www.channelstv.com/2018/03/01/lagos-kano-govts-agree-economic-partnership/?
