Christianity EtcRe: Do You Think Christianity Had Crushed Our Native Cultures? by DejiSantos: 11:22am On Feb 25, 2018
I agree.

Whilst Christianity has had some good points.

It would be silly to suggest it as bought an end to wickedness.

PurpleNneoma:
Christianity has not ended the wickedness.

We have swapped the concepts like Osu with homophobia.

I would argue Nigeria is less civilised now than ever before.

"Monogamy is the most major step towards equality."

Uncle you need to put down whatever you're smoking.

HigherEd:
Lol this guy you are very illogical
1) point one is just like saying that since a Christian was caught raping someone then Christianity endorses rape. People can do things based on many factors that are different from the religion they bear. Whether the countries who sponsored Biafran war were Christian or not is completely irrelevant as long as the war was not inspired by the bible or the Church...

3) Monogamy is the most major step towards equality. Christianity made it clear that women were not properties to be acquired and discarded as most major cultures did including the majority of African Cultures and religion. By mandating christian men to marry one wive each Christianity was ushering in an era of freedom for women where they can enter monogamist relationships without fear of competing for love or attention for their kids...

4) Foolish talk once again, Children have also been accused of Witchcraft here in Africa even before the White Men accepted Christianity. Terms like "Ogbanje", " Emere" are totally indigenous African concepts to refer to children that are possessed of witchcraft. And thanks to Christianity the practice of these indigenous religions have waned.

5) Maybe because no one born of a woman would have dared affiliate themselves with homosexuality. Up till the early 2000s most Africans never knew anything about modern day homosexual practice not to even talk of persecuting them. My first knowledge of Homosexual marriages was in 2006 when I read a JW awake publication and I could remember being astonished that gay ppl truly existed. But make no doubt about it, African religions prior to Christianity would have crucified anyone who came out to claim homosexuality.

Christianity EtcRe: Has Christianity Been Bad For Nigeria by DejiSantos: 5:22pm On Feb 22, 2018
1.The nations that funded the Biafran genocide were Christian nations. eg Britain
2. Who said I'm atheist? Rejecting Christianity does not make you an atheist.
3. Monogamy does not equate to equality. That is a foolish false equivalence.
4. The witch hunt of children is a Christian import. It happened in the Americas before they embraced secularism eg. Salem, Massachusetts
5. There is no record of people being murdered or imprisoned for being homosexual before the advent of Christianity and Islam.

You're just talking Christian mumbo jumbo.

You can admit the flaws in your faith without trying to rewrite history.

It makes you seem stupid.

HigherEd:
Don't be foolish, all the points I have raised are activities emanating from the part and parcel of christian dogma. What has Christianity got to do with a political biafran war which never had a religious undertone. Shall we say America(a mostly christian nation) was trying to kill Igbos(a mostly christian tribe) for being Christian.

Christianity arrived our shores through missionaries who left all in their countries to come evangelise here. I don't know which missionaries massacred anyone in Nigerian history. But I'm not surprised that you would cook up that story as most Atheist are pathetic liars.

Christianity amongst many religions of the Earth encouraged Monogamy from the onset in belief that men and women are equal. Does your daft mind not see that the majority of Countries with proper women's rights are countries which largely embraced/embrace Christianity. Why is there a sharp contrast between women rights in Europe, NAmerica and South America(all christian dominated till this day) and Saudi, Pakistan, Indonesia (all Muslim state till this day).

"Ask little children who have been labeled witches and abused how civilised Christianity is?" Sincerly speaking what type of cheap drugs are you on? Are you telling me children weren't labelled witches before Christianity came into Nigeria. In the case of traditional laced Christianity where maybe children are labelled witches then we would be talking about Nigerian partly held indigenous religions polluting the christian one.

Again you seem to try to be deliberately deceptive. Was homosexuality accepted in Nigerian cultures or religions before the entry of Christianity? In today's society if you are found to be homosexual there are advocates who would cite the bible verse "let he who is without sin cast the first stone". But if you were found as Homosexual prior to the era of Christianity you probably would have your head sacrificed to a banana tree by locals.
