The day Chiamaka Nnadozie will not be available that is when we would see the poor goalkeepers they’re parading around the SuperFalcons..

And I hope it’s not in an important game!!

We need better backup goalkeepers we can rely on…

Justin Madugu should checkout this ones if we truly need a capable 2nd & 3rd choice..

FT: Malawi 🇲🇼 2-0 Angola 🇦🇴

The Malawi Women's Football Team ( Scorchers) have qualified for their first ever WAFCON finals in Morocco with a hard fought 2-0 victory against the resilient Angola in a match played at Bingu National Stadium on Tuesday.

The Scorchers have qualified with a 2-0 on aggregate after the first game in Angola ended goalless.

Faith Chinzimu was the hero of the day with a brace in a space of a single minute to bring pride and joy to the nation.

This is Madugu confirming what you said here when asked this evening. His language however is confusing as it doesn't indicate if he's accepted and signed said offer. The framing of his response kinda gives that impression.
Okay…. This also mean he would take them to the World Cup if they qualify.

But truthfully this guy isn’t tactically sound, 4get the WAFCON win which is mainly on the players individual brilliance not his tactical input..

And for those faulting Randy WAFCON lose, they seem to forget that they had two red cards and even took the game to penalty shootout.. That isn’t a small feat with 9 players!

Circling back on this. A post by Colin Udoh today suggests this isn't the case, at least not at the moment. Madugu is still coaching with Super Falcons without a contract.
The info from our WhatsApp group here was that they gave him a 2 years contract…

I will check again and post it here.

I'm guessing you've not seen her play for Houston Dash lately because that's exactly the role she plays for them now. She's settled into her fullback role and her destination has even changed at club level from forward to defence. Attached is a picture from the club's website showing this.
Was speaking from the onset of the World Cup in 2023 and Olympics in 2024 …

I have one thing to say, why can’t Michelle stick to the right back or Wing back position at Club level as well? Because she’s well recognized as a Defender not even as a forward..!

You have played as a Defender at the highest level (World Cup, Olympics and WAFCON) what more does she want to prove as a forward? Madam should just settle in there as a Defender..

I only mentioned two Falcons players.

Stella was outstanding

Even the commentator acknowledged her here

I don't know if you ever watched Patience though.

Also add Rita Nwadike and Vera Okolo to the Falcons list

Add Finidi George to the Eagles list.
Stella wasn’t just outstanding, she remains Nigeria's best Winger till date, Vera Okolo was another superb Player on the flanks as well maybe next to Stella on the rankings…

I also wondered if she is of Camerounian origin going by that first name- Nguemo.

I must say, that girl is very good.

She reminds me of Francesca Ordega. In her physical stature and style of play.

Incidentally both are Tiv, from Benue State.

I hope she gets enough exposure to get into a good team in Europe.

I also hope Francesca can mentor her.
.
Nigeria's traditional playing style involves pacy wingers - Tijani Babangida, Pius Ikedia Moses Simon etc.

On the Women's side, we've had Francisca and Patience Avre, among others.

The less emphasis on such strikers is what makes our pattern of play very drab these days.
How will you mention SuperFalcons wingers and not mention their no.1 Stella Mbachu? Then the likes of Esther Sunday, Oghonna Chukwudi and Chichi Igbo.?

Real Sociedad Forward Edna Imade Dumps Nigeria 🇳🇬 for Spain 🇪🇸, National Team Coach Confirms…!!

• Real Sociedad forward has opted to represent Spain over Nigeria and Morocco.

• Spanish Women's national team coach confirms paperwork process for the prolific striker's eligibility.

Talented Spanish forward of Nigerian descent Edna Imade has pledged her international allegiance to Spain's La Roja over Nigeria's Super Falcons.

Born in Morocco to a Nigerian mother from Benin City, Imade has spent her entire life in Spain, and that may have greatly influenced her decision to snub Nigeria and Morocco for the reigning world champions.

Spanish women's national team coach, Sonia Bermúdez, confirmed on Thursday at the press conference ahead of her side's Nations League semi-final first leg against Sweden that the process to secure Imade's eligibility is in its final stages, requiring only the finalisation of some paperwork.

Coach Bermúdez, also hinted at adding "small nuances" to the squad "to continue winning titles," with Imade clearly being a key part of those plans for the reigning world champions.

Currently on loan at Real Sociedad from FC Bayern Munich where she signed a four-year contract that will keep her at the club until 2029, Imade has been scoring consistently, netting six goals in six Primera División matches already this season.

“We're in the process of getting her to join us; we just need to finalize some paperwork. She's a player we want to be with Spain. We're obviously keeping her in mind," Bermúdez stated as quoted by Spanish radio Onda Cero.

Additional reports from Spanish Newspaper MARCA indicate that the tri-national forward had initiated a naturalization process since May with a view of representing Spain at this year's women's Euros but it would eventually prove abortive until later on in October.

The forward enjoyed a prolific run in the previous season with Granada, finishing second in the league's top scoring charts with 16 goals in 29 games, an achievement that saw her named Player of the Month for December.

That's even going too far up the hierarchy.
She is not even in the league of the following: Esther Onyenezide, Suliat Abideen, Peace Efih, or even Super Falcon-in-waiting, Ayooluwa Oke.
Sorry, but she has no business being in this squad. None, whatsoever.
Let me not talk about Afolabi before them label me enemy of progress!

Now that you mentioned, that's true. Can't quite remember if she was a homebased player, cause if she was she should have gotten an invite in my opinion. Obviously doesn't mean Magudu will start her ahead of Ohale anyways.

With what Ucheibe is doing in defence for Benfica I believe she'll handle that role well. Never really fancied Christy in midfield, so it's satisfying to know defence could be a better suit for her in this team.
ISAH what don move go Israel 🇮🇱 na Ona Dey wait for 😂😂😂

Madugu don sell that one go abroad first..

Anyway Ohale hasn’t really done bad as she has also recovered enough to cover up!!

Don’t forget that Benin no.18 is a Banda kind of striker, ahbi Ona no Dey see.

It takes a lot going against Female Players with such testosterone level..

You’re sounding as if Nigeria can’t win awards or tournaments just because it’s hosted in Morocco..!

Football all round Club and Country
Esther Okoronkwo is no.1 in Africa right now…

In terms of club alone then Temwa Chawinga is no.1

Can't speak to how good she is because I haven't seen her play, but judging by the options available to us now, I don't think she'll be any worse.

She's young and in an environment where she can grow, I'll hope she gets a call up soon.
She debut for Portsmouth in the English Women's Cup against Brighton & Hove Albion FC in September 2025.

She had a great game, you can watch it on YouTube. But for now I will definitely pick her as 3rd choice for the Super Falcons considering the environment she’s in right now where there’s proper training and competition..

Will she win African player of the year ?
Or they’ll give it to Chabbak ?
Truthfully Esther Okoronkwo stands out ahead of the rest nominees for Club and Country..!

She should get it, I think Ajibade is the main character that might stand in her way considering winning the WAFCON player of the tournament as well and a popular figure..!

But again I’m loving the media Hype Okoronkwo is getting and she herself is going with the flow delivering goals and assists as well..

Why do the Nigerian Coaches always pick goalkeepers that don’t get game time at clubs for the National Team?? There are a lot of goalkeepers in the league we do watch during the seasons but when it’s time for call up they will bring in their favorites…

We have been crying for a proper backup for Chiamaka Nnadozie, we don’t want to be in a mess when there’s a situation of her being unavailable..

We have few goalies abroad, at least 4 in Europe and also about 3 in College in the US..

And again she isn’t the player we need right now considering Abiodun, Ucheibe, Echegini and Ajibade will start ahead of her in Midfield..

Is she in anyway better than the rest? Or does she bring any better quality the rest don’t have??

According to Osasu, a NFF source claims Justin Madugu was mandated by the NFF president to invite maximum 15 foreign players. This may explain why some players didn't make the team. But like you rightly noted, even if he had to choose NWFL players, the ones selected aren't the best in the league for their position.

This again is the reason some of us will always advocate against hiring coaches based in Nigeria. While I understand the situation, it doesn't absolve Madugu. As a coach, you should demand 100% control over your team list and if you can't get that please resign. This is the nonsense they wanted to do with Waldrum with the World Cup list that led to public the show of shame that followed it. Waldrum could put his foot down first because he didn't need their job, second because he had a contract. Madugu doesn't even have an employment contract right now and is just freelancing.
Report from glasshouse says Madugu have been given a two year contract..

They should have told him to pick 18 foreign based players at least then 5 of their whosoever Homebased they want considering he will always do as they say..

One thing I so much love about Edna is her well built physique.. She’s just too complete considering she can use both feet’s effectively, very good in the air and also very fast..!!

Imagine having Edna Imade and Joy Omewa as your no.9

Your opponents will be in soup because after dealing with one, the other one comes in to suffer the already tired opponent defense..

She's not joint league top scorer with 6 goals.
Make we no deceive ourselves…. We need Edna Imade in the SuperFalcons real quick.

A typical no.9, with someone like Esther and Ajibade on the flanks she will flourish. Very good in the air

I will pick Imade before Joy Omewa
