radautoworks:Only few vehicles have this feature (first vehicle to see tyre PSI display, you and cosplay mentioned acura & BMW) so what is the way out for those vehicle without the display. |
The buyer called to inform me she has low tyre. I didn't understand the description & requested she sends a pic (image 1). I advised she visits a fuel station with lube Mart to have the tyres gauged and fixed with instruction to the technician the recommended PSI is 32 each (as on door slab). She drove into a French multinational integrated oil and gas company beside Grand Square old tollgate around Alausa, Lagos with instruction to the 'technician' about the 32 recommended tyre PSI. Technician fixed tyres confirming he inflated 32 PSI. Alas vehicle display changed to 50 PSI. She calls me again and I advised she goes back to where she fixed it but she informed me it will be difficult for her as she already on the expressway approaching Ogudu so I advised she stops at nearest fuel station to have the tyre guaged. To cut story short, 6 other stations and road-side vulcanizers all guages the tyres and brings up 6 different PSI as against what the vehicle is displaying. Finally, she said a young vulcanizer guaged each tyre and gave the exact PSI as indicated on the EVIC, she then told him to increase and decrease the PSI to 32 where necessary (image 2). So much fake product and/or incompetent technicians in Naija. Suffice to note that a large percentage of vehicles on naija roads have wrong and over-inflated tyre pressure on them. What can be done to reverse this dangerous situation? Good day NLers, Which Electronic Vehicle Information Centre (EVIC) provides as much information? Like 4 tyres PSI; fuel mileage to empty etc. Cc: sultaan, egunmogaji, piyke, Obekediamondfuto, thebigkendo, thecar, sooperrescue, Banky3w, LeJeun3, Mayor2013, autologic, Autoelectng, Kingreign, chukel, radautoworks, opsudei1, oblo, weyreypeye, razaqmb, nurey, nwanneni, Princetom1, cosplay, johnabraham, evilspirit,deedee44, carshopper, protocol, taxiappguy, ifyeez,gentlelife50, jayooh, jergermeister, lacomb, chillex8, fogman, Enyinne krisrock. akanniade10 Kashif chucsmoore, uwemjack, Gazzuzz, ejembi25, CarGuideNG, ElshanAutos, KesmiraAutos, calculusx, NnamdiChidi, EkeneElectronics, Samad805.

In order not to find yourself stranded in the middle of nowhere (if your car comes with the donut spare tyre) , make sure you have the regular-size spare tyre ( or even the tubeless type) that’s always ready to go .[/quote]I believe the donut spare tyre has advantage over the regular same size tyre, imagine a scenario someone else drives your vehicle, the tyre got flat and the person changes it to the regular-size spare tyre (its same tyre and rim); and forgets to fix the flat leaving it in the booth, 95% of vehicle owner might not notice it and will be using the vehicle like that without a spare until the inevitable happens and the person is stranded. With the donut, everyone simply sees a tyre is bad and will quickly fix it (one of my cars came with full regular-size spare tyre and rim - Avalon Limited edition - but i had to find a way to get a smaller tyre to the rim so its easily noticed). Meanwhile, can you explain further on your above statement pls, I would like to understand "In order not to find yourself stranded in the middle of nowhere (if your car comes with the donut spare tyre), make sure you have the regular-size spare tyre ( or even the tubeless type) that’s always ready to go" |
It actually depends on the meaning of "dead" battery. While conceding that batteries are not ever "completely dead" doesn't mean they are rechargeable. To answer your question directly: the more discharged a battery is, the longer it will take to recharge it. Batteries usually take several hours to recharge; if the battery is severely discharged then it may take up to 12 hours or more to recharge. Dry Charge battery requires some maintenance to remain good and ready for starting vehicles, ensuring low electrolyte - generally called water - loss leading to a long service life. Reason 'battery chargers' were available at every corner shops in major naija towns and cities. While Sealed Maintenance Free (SMF) requires no maintenance as the water loss has been reduced and charge retention improved on; more amount of water is used thereby eliminating the need to top-up/add more water during the lifetime of the battery. Finally, (with the little I know) it's going to be a pyrrhic victory if a "dead" battery ever gets back to life. |
