Because it favours you now doesn't mean it is always Uhuru. If the investments on the lady had gone the other way round you will hear him placing curses on the woman and calling women all sort of names.

We've had stories of such attempts particularly in the United states that ended in tears and regrets.

ryfoz:
you are very lucky bro. A friend of mine with a little bit of asthmatic issues (episodes) long before COVID-19 died as a result of this nonchalant attitude of health workers, stigmatisation based on their prejudice, foolishness, and inability to conduct and treat basic human illness as common as headache. He died right there in an hospital where they refused to attend to him on time.

All he complained of was shortness of breath and how he managed to take himself there was a wonder, and a simple inhaler could have saved his life.

I was very angry when I heard the news because we grew up together and he was planning his wedding soon sef. We are far from each other now (different state) and I really wish I was there for him that day
Hope we get it right sooner than later. So sad. May his soul and those of the departed rest in peace and those already ill to have full recovery in Jesus name, Amen

There is so much deceit and insincerity in this COVID 19 palaver.

This pandemic has exposed our unpreparedness to manage emergency situations, the government and health workers in government hospital are culpable. My experience in the hands of the public health workers is a bitter experience I don't pray to encounter again.

I do experience some occasional respiratory discomfort and mild chest pains especially when I'm indoors. This illness started 5years ago when I was a student at Unilag. I went to the school's Health centre and got better . No test or CXR was ever done.
I use ventolin inhaler on my own each time I have the episode which may not come for a year.

I called a relative who is a doctor 2 weeks ago because I needed his opinion with the complaints. He directed me to the Ikorodu General Hospital for proper evaluation. At the hospital I was nonchalantly and unprofessionally treated. Without any examination or simple auscultation of my chest they had already condemned me as a COVID 19 patient giving me a list of drugs to buy:
hydroxylchoroquine, vit.C, Zinc tab. , Cefuroxime, which are drugs they use in isolation centres in Lagos. Thereafter, I was refereed to LUTH for COVID 19 screening.
Meanwhile, I had no fever, no cough, no itchy throat, no sneezing, no weakness. At LUTH I was tossed up and down for 2 days and then sent to IDH in Yaba. My experience at IDH was worse than what happened at Ikorodu and LUTH. I saw a lot of very sick patients sent away on the excuse that they are out of testing materials. After another 3 days I was again referred to NIMR where the samples were to be obtained. After 2 days at the NIMR I was directed to go and generate some information electronically before they could obtain my swab specimen.

After several times I couldn't succeed and was told that there were no materials for the tests as they were expecting some from the NCDC.
At this stage I gave up the quest and went back to my family in Ikorodu.

Aftermath of my experience, my doctor whom I earlier contacted asked me to do a CXR ,ECG and other basic tests.

In the meantime, he prescribe these drug which I'm taking and there is much improvement as I'm doing very well.

salbutamol, prednisone, paracetamol

Hopefully I will come for a review when my results are ready.

This narrative is to highlight the decay in our healthcare system.

Everyday they continue to churn out statistics of how many they have cured, discharged etc. It is a charade.
If I really had CORONAVIRUS I would be dead by now. Why can't doctors do normal or basic examinations again.?

There is a need for total rebirth, attitudinal change in the way we do things.

He was dethroned.

His reign ended there and then.

Agho Obaseki became the representative of the British in Benin.
Obaseki was appointed as administrator by the British and you guys should understand the difference. Check history and tell.me where Obaseki was ever referred or called 'Oba'.

oba of Benin was dethroned, banished the palace cleared and burned and was replaced with Obaseki.
Oba Ovorawmen was never replaced by Obaseki, rather he was used to collect taxes to the british government. The people of Benin never recognized him as Oba. The throne was left vacant until the death of Oba Ovorawmen where he exiled in Calabar, his son Oba Eweka assumed the throne to continue from where his father left off
PoliticsRe: Influential Traditional Rulers Who Were Dethroned In Nigeria. by deluckiest(m):
Saopedro:
The dethronement of Muhammadu Sanusi as the emir of Kano has continued to generate reactions; some say it is expected going by recent happenings but others are still in shock. There are also those who claimed a revered traditional ruler like the emir of Kano has never been treated in such manner. Some even said such cannot happen in certain parts of the country.

But the dethronement of emirs — or those in similar positions of authority — is not an entirely new thing in Nigeria; one of such events played more than 100 years ago when the oba of Benin was deposed and sent on exile.

Here are seven influential traditional rulers who have experienced such.

OLUWADARE ADESINA, DEJI OF AKURE

Who remembers Oluwadare Adesina, the former deji of Akure, who fought with his wife in public? He was dethroned after the public brawl with Bolanle, his wife, an act that was widely described as a public show of shame. The Ondo state government deposed Adesina in 2009, after invoking sections 17(1) and (2) of the state’s chiefs law, accusing him of conducting himself in the “most dishonorable, condemnable and disgraceful manner.”

The dethroned king was also banished from Akure for six months. The council of kingmakers had called for his deposition, while his estranged wife, now late, sued him for battery.

OVONRAMWEN NOGBAISI, OBA OF BENIN

Apart from not being in good terms with then British government, part of the cause of the dethronement of Ovonramwen Nogbaisi as oba and his subsequent exile in 1897 was the murder of James Philips, then acting consul-general, during a visit to the Benin kingdom.

The oba was captured by the British authorities and tried in accordance with the British law; he was subsequently found guilty before being deposed. He was said to have angered the British government through various actions such as forbidding his people from trading with the British and barring the white men from entering Benin after he discovered a treaty signed with the government was a “tactic to annex Benin into the British Empire.”

Another of his actions that did not go down well with the authorities was the stoppage of palm oil supply to Itsekiri middle men in 1896. He reportedly took the action because they refused to pay their tribute to the oba, a move seen as puncturing the business of the British merchants in the region.
The OP should be reminded that the dethronement and subsequent sending to exile monarchs is not part of our constitution and those still practicing it such as Ganduje is doing it with outright disregard to the constition and therefore, should not be celebrated and salivated on as some of you are doing. At the bolded, it may interest the OP that the event were the Oba of Benin was sent on exile took place around 100 years ago and the British army were able to defeat the Benin warriors because of their superior military fire power. The Oba of Benin was the only king in Nigeria who stood against and fought the colonial powers who came not with genuine intention to trade but to steal from the Benin kingdom abundant wealth. The people of Itsekiri and others were under Benin empire and so the Oba 'subjects'. Your so caller dethronement of the Oba Ovorawmen N'Ogb'aise was the first and last to be carried out and I'm yet to see any governor that would attempt it. Chief Igbedion the Esama of Benin who attempted to create a parallel kingdom in the past failed and when he realises his richies and fame would only betray him and set him against the people, he made a retreat and ask the Oba of Benin for forgiveness

Abacha removed emir of kano during his regime, u need to read more bro
Read again, I said Sultan of Sokoto not Emir of Kano. In the case of Oba of Benin his rulership is dynastic or lineage and not determined or selected by any political power just like most others in the country. So of will be hard to remove him by a governor or even the president and expect the people to calm it. Even if he's forcefully evicted from the throne the people will not recognize a replacement.

It is because they knew their place, limits and boundaries. They don't run their mouths up and down like our dear Mr Sanusi. Sanusi is too much involved in politics and activism, he was bound to have many enemies and get himself involve in trouble every and then.
Imagine Oba of Benin going against Obaseki, mouth running his policies. If Obaseki decides to cause problem for him, almost all APC members in Edo will support Obaseki and that's like too much residents.
If Sultan of Sokoto decides to dabble into politics and activism like Sanusi and see himself as Tambuwal nemesis, almost all the PDP members in the state would see it as an affront and would likely support Tambuwal on any decision he takes against the Sultan.

Once a traditional ruler gets in involved in politics, he is opened himself to political drama. Governors will touch them and nothing will happen because the residents would have already divided along party lines
I understand your point though. However, come what may, the governor cannot fight and win the collective resolve of the people, regardless of the political party affiliation

I agree with you that politicians are dangerous human beings, hence traditional rulers should respect their stool and not dabble into politics. I'm Afemai but I can tell you that the Oba of Benin heads the traditional ruler council meetings in Benin which traditional rulers from Edo and Delta attend

Exactly my point. No state governor can touch Sultan of Sokoto and Oba of Benin. These are traditional rulers known not under the influence of political power or by any other means.

powerful indeed. No trditional ruler is more powerful than his governor.
Abeg to differ. Not all traditional rulers are under the control of their governors. I can confidently tell you that the Oba of Benin is excepted and not under the influence or control of the state government.

Do your research and you'd see that some governors that tried to undermine and manipulate the Oba stool against the wishes of the people in time past fell from Grace to grass, some of them had their life cut short.
