We should stop the fight please. History is only there to educate us of the past events and not to vilify any tribe.

Yes, Bini(Edo) was feared and respected among other tribes because of their war prowess and might for conquest but today things have changed. The modern world system of government has changed the narrative. For instance, you cannot wage a war to any people or claim a territory without the support of the government, else you will have the government forces to contend with.

Reno Omokri that brought up this matter was simply addressing the comment made by a Lady who obviously was ignorant of history.

There is no more slave today and such is not recognized in our constitution. According to history even from European authors affirmed that benin had great warriors that fought and conquered many tribes. However, can the Benin's lay claim to any of those lands and people this era?
We should all learn to embrace history and not fight over it.

Bros David. I've seen where you said you found no fault in TB Joshua and I understood where you're coming from having been there myself for a long time.

There was a time I even made a post here in NL after his meeting in Bethlehem sometime ago, I even made some comparisons with Jesus because of the miracles that took place there in Jesus' hometown during TB Joshua's meeting.

I just knew what was going on in his public life, but not his secret life. Now I also know his secret activities and it's really really terrible. That knowledge is what changed my opinion about him because it completely cancels whatever he did in public.

So perhaps you should ask God to reveal that side of TB Joshua to you so that you can also see the full picture of the man.

God bless.
Why don't you tell us this secret you discovered about Prophet T.B. Joshua instead of beating about the bush? You people now suddenly found your voice because he's late now. I'm sure those of you criticizing him today will do the same to Jesus if he were around. Let him who is without sin be first to throw a stone. Am I surprise? Not at all,
because even Jesus Christ was also called the son of Beelzebub. See them holier than thou people. Hypocrites everywhere!

Business / Request Any Products From Envato Elements Here by deluckiest(m): 3:04pm On Mar 05, 2021
Recently I asked my WhatsApp group members to request any digital product or files that would help them improve in their dotcom and marketing hustle. Envato elements got the highest votes, followed by premium stock images from Gettyimages, Istocks, Adobe stocks etc.

Having fulfilled most of the requests, I decided to extend same generosity to this community.

Each person is entitled to two(2) files. This means you can request up to two different files for free. The files come intact and directly from the original source.

However, be aware that it is going to be a 'first-come-first-serve' basis. I will attend to those people that contact me first and I will stop taking requests after I've made fulfilments to my satisfaction. So, I suggest you take this chance while it is still available.

How to request
First comment to make your request and leave your email here. Then visit Envato elements page, search for your desirable product/file, when it opens, copy the entire product URL in the web browser and send it to the email address on my signature.
Example: https://elements.envato.com/daffa-digital-marketing-googleslide-template-4J5G78E

I will do my best to get your files within 24 hours. Just be patient. The next free giveaway will themeforests and Codecanyon products. Mark your calendar against next week Friday and Saturday.

NOTE: You can also request any premium stock images too. This giveaway will run for two days starting from today and if peradventure I'm unable to reply your messages, hold the Nairaland antispam bot responsible. Regardless, you can still reach me via my email. Check my signature

The Edos always want to disrespect the Yorubas but we just choose to let them keep on believing in what they choose to believe. The Ogiso dynasty and the Odionweres system was what they practiced before Oranmiyan came into that land. They do no want to admit that Oranmiyan lineage brought in the Obaship system to them, in order not to feel that Yorubas introduced Obaship to that land, they brought a story of Ekaladerhan with no single proof to back it up. But there are visible evidence that Oranmiyan gave birth to the very first Oba that started the Benin empire, even the heads are buried in Ife. A history fact and evidence that has put a nail to the all those story of Ekaladerhan bla bla bla is the Ekiokpagha treaty. A peace treaty between the Obaship dynasty and the Aborigines of Igodomigodo. That treaty simply show that some Yorubas migrated from Ife, mixed with some Aborigines and created the Benin empire.

Wrong. Please stop.

Edit: Nobody said Oba system in benin wasn't introduced by Oranmiyan, but claiming that benin migrated from Ife is what brought the argument. Ekaladerha(Oduduwa)is from benin. I'm not just saying it, there are available evidence to support this argument.

This is pure misrepresentation of history.

That is how you people always attempt to twist the facts and rewrite history.

The monarchial rulership in this part of the world started from Benin during the era of the Ogisos. Bear it in mind that the earliest rulers of Benin were called Ogisos and not obas. Benin empire didn't start with obaship dynasty founded by Oranmiyan the son of the ancestral ruler of Ife, Ekaladerah(Ododuwa).

Circumstances led the son of the last Ogisos, Owodo, that wandered from benin to Ife and became a ruler there, carrying everything about the Benin monarchial system to that place

And by the time the problem that led him to fled to Ife settled, they sought for him everywhere and eventually found him to return back to claim the throne which rightfully is his inheritance but he was to old to travel all the way from Ife to benin, instead, mandated his last born, prince Oranmiya to go and rule the people in his stead. He accepted. However, his reign did not last long because he noticed the people he met there were bitter, too angry and disorganized and hardly listen to one another. This apparently, was as a result of the many problems and issues he met there. because for sometimes, the empire was without king. I don't want to go lengthy on that. So, he returned back to Ife but installed his son, Eweka who became the first Oba of benin.

The Ooni of Ife,, by historical fact, is a son of Benin king. I know the truth hurts but just bear the pain.

You said no single proof? come to benin, the ancient landmarks and undisputed evidence are readily available for you to behold.

You people claimed that your spiritual founder of yorubaland,Oduduwa hailed from the sky and descended to earth with the aid of a chain hung from the sky. Such tales by moonlight is what you believe, even with your education that the Yoruba's are respected for.

Guy, learn how to separate them.
You wrote Edo instead of Benin.

There are many tribes in Edo state I'm only singling out benin people.

And I'm telling you that, I would choose ibiblo people over Benin people anytime.
You are the ignorant one here.

Benin empire is the same as Edo. Both can be use interchangeably. Before edo state, it used to be bendel where delta state was calved out. Almost every tribe in the present day Edo, Delta were all part of Benin empire. The empire expanded to south western states like, Lagos, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti.

According to my aged mother, her grandfather said whoever killed a leopard or tiger is required to take the foreskin to the Oba of Benin and the person is honoured by a special title. You dare not disobey the, the consequences is better imagine. However, the journey from etsako was not an easy one. it could take months to reach Benin. Besides, the dead must be taken to Benin capital for burial. This scenario was not peculiar to the Etsako/Afemai tribe alone, but other tribes as well, to far away Lagos because they were under Benin(edo) rule.

A respected historian from one of the south west States(Can't remember his name now. Will search for it and update this post) wrote an article and lay everything bare. it is an interesting one. He describes in details with factual evidence, how Lagos and other south west states came to be under the Benin empire and how the dead were taken to Benin for burial. Infact, some names that are common in Yoruba land are actually Benin origin. Names like, Idioro, Eko '(eko 'onibaje), idumota etc. These are not just mere fallacy but facts. you can do your own research with open mind and without bitterness.

It is unfortunate that we don't value our historical heritage but rather carry religion on top our head, yet the country remains backward and poverty capital of the world.
