World security has collapsed. Those who rely on gadgets to
secure their lives have discovered that such gadgets have failed
them. Nations of the world where billions and trillions of dollars
are spent to secure lives and property are now coming to terms
with the fact that safety is of the Lord, it is indeed true that
except the Lord watches over a city, the watchman stays awake
in vain.
David was in a city that had gates. One would have thought this
was a safe place to live. However, what was purposed to be
security for David became a source of danger to him. Do not
trust any form of human for your security. Security is only of the
Lord. Proverbs 21:31 says "The horse is prepared against the day
of battle: but safety is of the LORD." If God does not keep you
safe, you cannot be safe.
Even though King Saul pursued David, God did not deliver him
into his hands. In Psalm 124:1-3, the Bible says "If it had not
been the LORD who was on our side, now may Israel say; If it
had not been the LORD who was on our side, when men rose up
against us: Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their
wrath was kindled against us:" Psalm 125:1-3 says "They that
trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be
removed, but abideth for ever. As the mountains are round about
Jerusalem, so the LORD is round about his people from
henceforth even for ever. For the rod of the wicked shall not rest
upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their
hands unto iniquity."
"Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit
indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." God is there to support
and protect you but He also expects you to be vigilant. He
expects you not only to pray but also to watch. In Ephesians
6:13 the Bible says we should stand after we have done all
things. After a victory, stand. You are to pray without ceasing .
You are to be vigilant all the days of your life.
There is no safety anywhere except in the Lord. Therefore, if
you are not yet born again, I implore you to surrender your life
to Jesus Christ. He is the only Friend who will stand by you all
the time.
