As part of its test run, the Nigeria Railway Commission is offering free rail services for one month on the Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri Railway line.

Passing through 3 states, Delta, Edo and Kogi, this service is expected to have a profound economic effect on the lives of the communities it will serve.

The standard guage modern service has a current journey time of 4 - 5 hours between Warri and Itakpe.

"The train will leave from station 10 Ujewu in Warri in the the morning and connect Okpara, Abraka, Owa-Oyibu (Agbor), Igbanke, Uromi, Agenegbode, Itogbo, Ajaokuta, before ending the journey in Itakpe. It will spend an hour in Itapke before its returns to Warri on the same day."

The project was first commissioned in 1987. Abandoned by various governments, with funds earmarked vanishing into private pockets, the service is finally taking off.

In the next phase, the line will be extended to Abuja. ~ Bucky 2018

ABUJA – The Federal Executive Council, Wednesday, took a bold step towards immortalising the first president of Nigeria, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe as it approved the sum of N1,496billion, for the building of a Mausoleum in his honour in Onitsha. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity Dr. Rueben Abati, who briefed state House correspondents, after the meeting of the council said the President had given his commitment during his visit to Anambra State , recently, that the issue of the Mausoleum would be revisited.

Dr Abati who was flanked by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ms. Ama Pepple, and the Minister of Mines and Steel, Mohammed Sada, said that the Mausoleum has been an issue since 2006 and that “the President during his visit to Anambra State had given his word that the issue will be revisited and that was done today because the country owes it to posterity and the memory of the great Zik to ensure that the mausoleum is built and there is concrete assurance by the ministry of Lands and Housing that this time around the Mausoleum will be completed. The Minister of Works and Housing in her contribution said “the Federal Executive Council approved the award of contract for the completion of Zik’s Mausoleum, a Mausoleum in memory of our first President. It was given out for a sum of N1,496,531,483 with a completion of 13 months. This contract was originally under the Presidency but it was stalled and had to be cancelled three times, but in 2010 it was transferred when it became a full fleshed ministry; Ministry of Lands and Housing Development, it was transferred to the ministry” she said adding that this time they were confident that the contractors are able to carry out the work competently and finish in the 13month given to them.

Awka — ANAMBRA State stood still yesterday when President Goodluck Ebere Jonathan visited with a promise to complete the long abandoned Owelle of Onitsha, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe's Mausoleum.



Addressing Anambra people at the Alex Ekwueme square, Awka, during his one-day visit, Jonathan regretted that the Zik's Mausoleum has not been completed and assured that the Federal Government would look into it.

Reasonable people ask questions before swallowing political lies. When they tell you that Atiku is corrupt and has been stealing government funds to enrich himself, you should ask questions like: HAS ATIKU EVER OCCUPIED A PUBLIC OFFICE WHERE HE WAS SIGNATORY TO ANY GOVERNMENT ACCOUNT? Sensible people know that you cannot have access to, let alone steal government funds when you are not a signatory to government account. Buhari has been a signatory to government account on many occasions, yet you people claim he's a saint. OBJ was a President, and a number signatory to FG account for 8 years, yet you guys believe him when he wrote that Atiku, his VP was the one that embezzle govt funds.
