lol..visionary and aregbe in the same sentence

Today, the whole country is in turmoil over Ruga and Ranching, governors are bickering and moaning over decisions if to establish Ruga or Ranches, but Aregbesola without fanfare created many and sent young men and women from his state to sturdy advanced animal husbandry in Germany, the young men and women like you are back in Nigeria running and managing the Ranches, that is vision, the kind of vision your own governor and the other governors fighting over Ruga didn't have.

He had vision, he saw the drama you are going through in Nigeria today over Ruga and he did something about

Aregbesola achieved more than all the governors in Nigeria, including the one in your state.

It's a voluntary program so if the usual suspects and noisemakers don't want to join, that's their headache, but I hope the SW is not part of that paranoid and the backward crowd. Cattle and meat business is daily multi-billion business with the SW consuming 16,000 - 20,000 cattle per day.

We need food and livestock security in the SW so they better get on board and get some of that money and livestock infrastructure.

If yoruba should leave nigeria, we will be great o. wow i never knew all this before, i thought its only the north that can do cattle business

Aregbesola is a visionary.

The SW witnessed the first TV station, first modern stadium, first skyscraper, first industrial estates, all before independence and before joining Nigeria, but all that stopped after the SW joined Nigeria.

Awolowo as the premier of the Western Region saw the importance of ranching and livestock farming so he set up ranches in Ondo and Oyo state and stocked them with the best cattle from Argentina.

Nigeria is bad business for the SW because the SW should be the greatest country in Black Africa today.

The Osun state government has concluded arrangements to provide about 648 healthy rams for the upcoming Eid-El-Kabir festival.

The Osun state government has concluded arrangements to provide about 648 healthy rams for the upcoming Eid-El-Kabir festival.
The programme, tagged 'O'RAM' and done through the Selema Oloba Ranch, Iwo, raises highly fattened rams breed and vaccinated within two months.

According to the Managing Director of Selema Oloba Ranch, Sola Omidiran, the 648 rams breed in the ranch were acquired from various parts of Nigeria's northern region.

He explained that during the fattening period, animals add 15kg more weight to their system, enhancing their capacity and body shape to provide more beef to consumers.

Omidiran noted that in line with the government's quest to generate revenue for the state, the company has attracted partnerships with a wide range of leading online stores to ensure adequate marketing for its animals.

He said, "In a bid to enhance our marketing strategies, we have gone to partner with varying online stores with our website, or online sites like Jumia, Ebeano Supermaket, Red and Green Butchery and Lekki Farms.

"With all what we are doing, we can assure you that we will give you value for money. There will be nowhere else you will find rams that are of good quality like these other than the Selema Farms
.

"We have animals in four different categories that are going for different prices that are for sale. We have the Bronze category of about 25-30kg for about N45,000; the Silva Category of 31-36kg for N60,000; Gold category of 37-43kg for N70,000 and the Platinum of 44-50kg for N80,000."

Aside the rams, Omidina added that there are also goats, cattles as well as tomatoes, onions, pepper and the rest as part of the Fresh products under the Selema Farms Fresh category.

It will be recalled that the O'Rams and Livestock project is part of the various sectors of the Osun Rural Enterprise and Agricultural Programme O'REAP, a cardinal point of Governor Rauf Aregbesola's six-point integral action plan.

Aregbesola Launches 10,000-capacity Cattle Ranch (O’Beef), Berates Under-utilization of Resources

Governor Rauf Aregbesola at the weekend launched a cattle ranch where a new agro-based industry is emerging. The 78.8 hectares, 10,000-capacity cattle ranch is aimed at meeting the beef demand of the State of Osun as well as the entire South-West when fully

For a start, the ranch, which is being managed by a South African expert in conjunction with International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and Faculty of Agriculture, Obafemi Awolowo University, has 1,500 cattle sourced locally. The farm is being run with the technical direction of foreign Technical Partners from Zambia and South Africa.According to the Governor, 30 foreign species of cattle called the Zambian Boran, would be introduced to the ranch with a view to genetically crossbreeding them with local ones to get new indigenous species.

When fully in operation, the ranch, which will be run on public private partnership basis, will have modern abattoir that offers services to the people at a lower rate.

At the commissioning of the Osun Beef Production outfit (O’Beef) ranch located at Oloba Farm Settlement in Iwo, he said it was primarily targeted at boosting agriculture, meat and food production, food processing and mass agro-based employment. It is also part of a plan to assist livestock farmers to improve milk and meat production, saying, plans are afoot to establish similar but lager ranches in Ede (400 hectares) and Ejigbo (1,000 hectares). Land has been acquired for this purpose and the location would have grazing reserves and cattle hub – including markets, feed mills. The grazing reserves will help us to tackle the recurring feud between the Fulani pastoralists and the crop farmers usually caused as a result of cattle grazing on farms.

Dangote To Site $8bn Refinery In Olokola FTZ

Indications emerged on Wednesday that the $8bn refinery proposed by Africa’s richest man and President, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, would be located at the Olokola Free Trade Zone, Ondo State.

A senior official of the company, who asked not to be named because he was not authorised to speak on the matter, told our correspondent that the refinery would be located in the OFTZ. One of the factors considered for the location of the refinery, according to the source, is that it is the biggest deep seaport in the country and other big industries are located there; besides, Ondo is one of the oil producing states in the country.

https://www.legit.ng/36325.html

Ondo state should have been the location for Dangote refinery and the largest deep seaport in Nigeria, but Mimiko's incompetence and stupidity destroyed everything, this paved the way for Fashola to swoop in and lured Dangote and the deep seaport to Lagos.

Every state with sea access in the SW should have a deap seaport.

Ten key states were identified as the frontline states to receive pilot interventions in line with the recommendations of the FMARD and NEC livestock conference.

The states include: Adamawa, Benue, Ebonyi, Edo, Kaduna, Nassarawa, Oyo, Plateau, Taraba and Zamfara.

The plan would include creation of large ranches in each of these states.

Otsam:

Ruga is different from ranching based on the settings, ownership, rules and regulations. The ranches would be controlled by government, cattle owners rents space(s) in ranches and abide by the laid down rules of the owner so ranches could be private or govt owned. On the other hand, Ruga settlements are basically Fulani herders settlements like mini-villages which will allow them have the full authority of the settlements, have their security set up themselves, they can have their own leader just running like a town inside another one. So there is no way that won’t cause a greater disaster.

"Ruga Settlement that seeks to settle migrant pastoral families simply means rural settlement in which animal farmers, not just cattle herders, will be settled in an organized place with provision of necessary and adequate basic amenities such as schools, hospitals, road networks, vet clinics, markets and manufacturing entities that will process and add value to meats and animal products," he said.

He said beneficiaries will include all persons in animal husbandry, not only Fulani herders.

https://allafrica.com/stories/201907010050.html

You just explained RUGA from top to bottom. In fact, RUGA is more comprehensive since it's opened to livestock farmers and businesses, not just Fulani herders with the same control measure by the government.

I don't expect you to be interested in what's above your level of understanding. If you don't know the difference between ranching as a method of livestock farming and ruga settlement how can you contribute to the conversation?
If you don't know that ranching is a business model while ruga is a tribal affair how can you talk about it?
Go back and see what ranching entails and go check ruga as proposed by your paymaster. Then you can come back and argue.

Reading and comprehension cannot take the place of commonsense!

How many govts in Africa have livestock at the center of national talk? Why is Buhari not talking about 5g but Ruga? Btw, Nigeria is still behind Capetown SA.

I saw the link, clicked but left before I could see the actual story when I realized it wasn't going to be a straight to the point article but something to confuse people with.

But back to you

You said it's the same as Ruga yet you want people to waste their time reading before rejecting it, this is not a case of people not wanting to read but a case of you confusing yourself.

Anyway, no cattle colony in any form, the rest of the world is building tech hubs while some God-forsaken people are dragging Yoruba back to the stone age. Let the cows stay in COWLAND, the carnivores will go to them.

NLTP Strategic Approach

Strategic interventions are aimed at modernizing livestock production through the establishment of ranches, mitigating the escalating crisis between pastoralists and farmers, and improving the broader supporting architecture around these issues.

https://foodprocessorsng.org/national-livestock-transformation-plan-nltp-2019-2028/

So, what's not so straight forward about the link and content.?

Or you just conveniently missed the part about the establishment of ranches to mitigate escalating crisis between pastoralists and farmers.

Now, do you mind explaining to us how this approach is different from RUGA?

Reading and comprehension is very essential.

Btw, there's a difference between tech hubs and Livestock and last time I checked, we have vibrant tech hubs in Nigeria and our tech innovators and entrepreneurs are the best in Africa.
