Nigeria’s power supply lowers by 1,852MW

Why are you posting irrelevant rubbish?

There is a clear difference between power generation and what ends up in people's home.

And the fact that you generated 4000MW in 2014 and same today doesn't mean you were competent enough in 2014 to get 4000MW into houses like they do today. You really do reason like a kid.

Nigeria: Power supply now 3,061mw

31 August 2016, Lagos – The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has sent out 3,061megawatts (Mw) of electricity generated by the electricity generation companies to the 11 distribution companies (DisCos).

didn't the OP also state he was speaking about his own area?

why are you now picking on the areas I mentioned? or are you disputing that I have stayed in those areas?

OK. fine. PMB is wholly responsible for the improved power supply. are you happy now?

as he is wholly responsible for the recession, loss of 4.5m jobs in 18 months, increase in electricity, gas prices, fraud in the IDP, budget padding (2016 & 2017) etc.

since you guys want to view issues in the extreme, fine. there is a brewing fuel scarcity with an attendant increase in PMS, diesel & kerosene are already off limits, ensure PMB takes full blame for that too.
Show me where I asserted that power supply in Nigeria is perfect.

ivandragon:
now you know its not perfect now right?

like I said, I mentioned a very specific area in Ekiti... I did not generalise.

& this was because I did not expect such an area to have regular power supply.

I have a place at Wuse II, AA, behind Biggs, light was lovely as at 2014, at Surulere (Shotayo Hughs precisely) light was also nice in 2014, but I feel the impact of improved electricity in smaller cities is a better indicator of improved power generally.

the same Fayose you guys brand as a liar is now the person you believe?

if I remember correctly, there was a major fault (a fire I think) that occurred around April or May 2014 which affected light in the SW generally, but this was rectified within weeks. so Fayose's 10 months of no light.... well...

look, you guys are cast in your beliefs & nothing is going to change that. I just feel extremes should be avoided. GEJ wasn't all bad, neither is PMB.

but when you try to attribute everything wrong to one person... well... that's a problem... after all, $16b on IPP under OBJ vanished, but I don't see you guys giving the APC navigator a had time...
Show me where I asserted that b it was perfect. Don't bother trying because I know I did not so you lied.

It doesn't matter what part of ekiti you mentioned, ekiti is still ekiti and the governor complained about power power supply in his state back in the same 2014 you sited..

Show us written facts to justify you claims with including the smaller places you are talking about..

You people are quick to credit everything you think good to the incompetent president Nigerians kicked out of office for incompetence poor power supply, but you are mad because people are crediting improved power supply to the current president.

if you followed the discussion, you would see that you are jumping the gun.

I mentioned a very specific location in a small state (no offense intended to Ekiti people) to show that even as at 2014, there was improvement.

I could have mentioned somewhere in Abuja, Lagos or Ibadan... major cities that more often than not, have good power supply.

it doesn't mean it was perfect... whatever facts you have can simply be countered when the number of system collapses in 2016 alone.

the problem with you chaps is that you have very selective memories & are averse to opinions that put paid to your half truths...
I'll never assert that the power situation in Nigeria today is perfect because it's not, but I do know that there's a lot of improvement and the situation is better today than 2014 and 2015.

Fayose Decries Poor Power Supply To Ekiti State

Nov 12, 2014 8:13 pm

Gov. Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State on Wednesday in Abuja said that protracted poor power supply to the state was militating against the economic and social growth of the state.

Fayose made the call during a courtesy visit on the Chairman of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr Sam Amadi

http://leadership.ng/business/390195/fayose-decries-poor-power-supply-ekiti-state
You can say what you want about ekiti, I don't care because it's nothing but fallacy at least according to the governor of ekiti who himself cried and yelled over poor power supply in ekiti in the same 2014 you are talking about.

[b]FG introduces austerity measures

ON NOVEMBER 17, 20147:54

By Emma Ujah, Abuja Bureau Chief ABUJA—The Federal Government, yesterday, introduced some austerity measures and scaled down the crude oil bench mark for the 2015 budget. In a bid to insulate the economy from falling crude oil prices the federal government announced far-reaching policy measures to deal with the crashing crude oil prices, cutting 2015 oil benchmark from $78 to $73 per barrel. Crude oil prices dropped to $77.76 per barrel, some cents below the $78 earlier proposed to the National Assembly as bench mark for the 2015 budget

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/11/fg-introduces-austerity-measures/
They actually introduced austerity and started the recession back in 2014 when oil was selling for $77/per barrel. Imagine their response today with oil selling for $30-40.

while it is good to give credit when it is due, its not proper to give wrong impressions as if the current improvement (which seems confined to only highbrow areas) started with PMB.

for instance, when I visited Ado-Ekiti in 2014, there is a place called Embassy Island at Moferere. the light there was 24/7. & this is nowhere close to a highbrow area. I was 'gladly' shocked.

those who know Ado-Ekiti well can attest to this.

but since last year, they said the light has been bad & only recently improved again but still a far cry from the constant light of 2014-midlate 2015.

a better indicator to show if there has been a 'real' improvement in power supply is to use 'outskirt' states, because 'bigger' states get power before 'smaller' states.

most people who 'suddenly' praise the present power supply in some areas have ALWAYS had good power supply since 2014-2015. it became worse in 2016 & is only just improving again.
Power supply was terrible back in 2014 to May 2015 before PMB. Do you need facts? Let me know before I waste my time.

And this has nothing to do with the number of power plants or who built power plants, this is more about competence and people doing their job today unlike before.

Please get your facts straight before spewing tales..

Lagos is what it is, simply because the FG made it so out of stupidity of keeping everything there. Even if you put a dog as governor, Lagos will still continue to expand because a small area can not serve 180 million people without experiencing exponential growth. Lagos is the major reason afonjas keep shouting one Nigeria. They want the city to grow into the adjoining states with the contribution of other Nigerians. Smh.
Lagos was already developed even before the existence of Nigeria as a country in 1960 and the FG moved the capital to Lagos because it was already developed and not the other way around.

Even Lagos as the federal capital was confined to Lagos Island.

Lagos has nothing to do with one Nigeria, politicians and leaders from the SE created one Nigeria and still want one Nigeria.

Zik wanted one Nigeria so he teamed up with the North to obtain one Nigeria

Aguiyi-Ironsi cemented one Nigeria system with decree 34. We had 3 different regions and regional autonomy before, but your brother from the SE abolished that system and joined us all together as one Nigeria with his decree 34.

Many of you are too young and don't know anything about Nigeria or how we arrived at this point, but what you don't like about Nigeria today was created by your leaders from the SE because they created One Nigeria.

You just contradicted the whole "tolerance" the writer was inspired by, by singling out and again pointing out your ethnicity. The writer talked about Lagos as a city housing not one kind but all kinds of Nigerians. One would think living in the U.K would make you smarter but oh well.

Please read a book!

It is true that Lagos is a so-called Yoruba land. One can still argue that it's population might be largely made up of people from other ethnicities. Anyho, the whole idea of the piece is that, the west can learn one or two about tolerance from Lagos. Appreciate the piece for what it is and keep your "Yoruba better ethnic" bigotry self about of it.

Come at me if you wish!

Great piece.
Makes me a proud Nigerian. I'll definitely share this piece.
The contradiction is on your part.

You and the parson you quoted are saying the same thing especially since you admitted that Lagos is Yorubaland so no need to separate Lagos from the same Yorubaland just to prove a contradictory point.

The article largely narrated and opined about religious tolerance in Lagos and surrounding areas which is the SW and households with mixed religious practices existing peacefully and even politicians marrying outside their religion.

Regardless the mixture of locals nd outsiders in Lagos state, people from other places take on the culture and way of life of their host communities hence the saying When in Rome, do as the Romans do. You see the same level of religious and other forms of tolerance in other places all over the SW and outsiders are present in other parts of the SW.

People moved and are moving to Lagos and other parts of the SW because of the same tolerance that suppresses frictions, religious animosity, anger, and clashes.

In Nigeria's violent religious politics, the Yoruba offer a unique glimpse of tolerance

NIGERIA is often in the headlines because of religious conflicts that have cost thousands their lives and displaced many more. But the divisions aren’t always simple and clean-cut – sometimes you may find remarkable tolerance, even within the same family, particularly among the Yoruba: testament to their long history as traders that may have exposed them to varying ideas and experiences.

One commonly cited case is that of Lagos governor Babatunde Fashola, who is a Muslim while his wife is Christian – but by far he isn’t the only case; religious intermarrying is common in south-western Nigeria.

Take for example the Koiki family in Lagos, with eight brothers and sisters, spread over six belief systems and religion is rarely a point of controversy, they say.

“It does not matter to us how and where you pray. The important thing is that you believe in God which will give you support in life”, says Iyabo, a member of the family, while preparing snacks with one of her sisters in a house in Lagos, for a celebration commemorating of the fifth year of the passing of the father of the family.

http://mgafrica.com/article/2014-10-21-in-nigerias-violent-religious-politics-the-yoruba-offer-a-unique-glimpse-of-tolerance
You need to read many books in print about Yoruba pluralism and Religious tolerance, they even a case study and point of reference in many academic institutions and publications.

Why Is Obama So Popular? POTUS Beats Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, Pope Francis As Most Admired Man

President Barack Obama bested President-elect Donald Trump as the most admired man in 2016, marking his ninth-consecutive win with a seven-point lead ahead of the incoming president in the annual Gallup poll released Wednesday. Meanwhile, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who lost to Trump in the 2016 presidential election, won the title for most admired woman, breaking records after receiving the honor for the 21st time – the 15th year in a row she’s been recognized by the majority of Americans surveyed.

But if Obama were doing well like you posited, his candidate wouldn't have lost the election with the power of incumbency, Obama played the racism card during his first campaign and a lot of people bought into it on the grounds that black American should be given a chance. As a result of which, Obama became the favourite candidate of most people in US and around the world. To this end, he was elected to bridge the divide between white and black in US and create a new mindset that will make all Americans see themselves as one. Today, Americans are more divided than ever! In his second campaign, he played gay card. And most people were of the opinion that he should be allowed to finish the second tenure and go for good. If his policies were good enough, his party and candidate would have been allowed to continue in power. Another word for Obama is failure!
Obama played the race and gay card? Do you have any credible audio or print evidence to back this up with or this is just the usual lies and ignorant rubbish you people spew all over the place?

Her husband (Bill Clinton) was well liked and popular just like Obama, but his Vice President, Al Gore lost to George Bush regardless Bill Clinton's incumbency status and great economic data and prosperity under Clinton.

Same way McCain lost to Obama regardless republican incumbency and George Bush.

Clinton is not Obama and Obama is not Clinton so regardless Obama's incumbency or Obama's popularity, people voted based on so many reasons.

And for what it's worth, more Americans voted for and wanted Hilary Clinton than Trump since she accumulated 3 million more votes than Trump. The electoral college saved Trump and if it was in Nigeria or in many other democracies around the world where it's one man one vote or where majority wins, Trump won't be the anywhere close to the white house.

Your understanding of politics and the US political system sounds very flawed.
