Same old story, after 4years.

Nigeria is in a sorry state. Provision of common Electricity is now term as an achievement. Construction of roads is an achievement, hmmmmm. No wonder u see a big Board at the end of a just 3km road built by a so called honorable governor. A speaker of the hse and a governor nearly exchange blows because of an uncompleted bridge construction. All these under Fi-Di-Fi. grin grin

The so called yoruba leaders have come again with their 'double-sided' mouth talk. if they say 'A' today then tomorow it becomes 'B'. Who is fooling who? When Asiwaju was hosting Gej in Lagos, did he not deny of no deal? When he flew on presidential jet to Abuja, did he not deny? You wanted alliance and you were given some unconstitutional conditions b4 it could work. We heard it that u wanted Bakare step down immediately after taking the oath, you know it s ethically wrong but u gave the condition knowing well that BB will turn the offer down. You knew that you were going to come out and show your clean hands in the making of PDP win the election. Yoruba RONU.

Am still saying it that the Southerners should expect nothing special from GEJ's government. A government that promises a looser like Iyabo Obasanjo and the likes 'Minister for education'. Expect killing and maiming, PDP will not be held responsible but the people who said they voted for "Akara and not beans". tell me how there is difference between both.
As you know how OBJ denied Olabode Judge, he will do the same. I know even GEJ will confess he was forced to run.

I am sorry for Nigeria because we dont vote with our head but our ass. How would you expect your southern brothers to sleep in the North with their both eyes closed? Anyway am happy none of mine is there, Nigeria deserve the leader they get.

I am from the south west and i supported BB. Nigeria deserve the government they get. Why people of the south could not vote for BB and allow the 8yrs power to shift back to South in 2015 still surprises me? Tribalism and conflicts would cost GEJ's government. This government would be the worst govt we can ever imagine, ppl should go and write it down.

PoliticsAkunyili: Gunmen After Anene, Invade Unizik by Depointer1(op): 12:31am On Apr 15, 2011
The Anambra Central Senatorial election drama took a worrisome dimension on Tuesday as unknown gunmen invaded Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, allegedly in search the Returning Officer in the election, Mr. Alex Anene.

Anene had on Monday announced the result of the election he collated and declared the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate, Dr. Chris Ngige winner of the election, against an earlier announcement by one Prof Charles Esimole whom, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Chukwuemeka Onukaogu introduced as the new Returning Officer, that the election was inconclusive.

The gunmen numbering two, Daily Sun stormed the university at about 11am Tuesday claiming to be men of the State Security Service (SSS). Without the permission of the school authorities, the gunmen ransacked various offices in search of Anene. The action of the gunmen caused tension in the university as people became apprehensive of the mission of the fearful looking men.

Reacting to the development yesterday, the university’s Director, Information and Communications, Mr. Emma Ojukwu said the university is an institution with its own authority and must not be invaded by any security operatives without the permission of the authorities.

He said, “What we are saying is that if security agents want to carry out any operation in the university, they must contact the Vice Chancellor who will direct the Chief Security Officer to cooperate with them. “But in this case nothing like that happened which is capable of causing breach of peace in the university, and we say no to that”.

Meanwhile, the State Director of SSS, Mr. Joshua Yakubu has said that he did not believe that the said gunmen that invaded the university were his men.

PoliticsHow Do We Defend Rigging? Oya Tell Us by Depointer1(op): 12:14am On Apr 15, 2011
I have been hearing a lot of yelling and yelling by Nairalanders about rigging, election fraud, manipulations etc. People finish voting often stay or go back to there various homes. But the fact is, election malpracticies are not done at the polling stations but at the collation centres.

Many of the electorates are ready to defend their votes, they keep hearing one man-one vote, yet, they dont even know how, when, and where to take on the fight to make their votes count.

I will emplore an experienced politician or a guru, to EDUCATE the true compatriots. Whoever has some tactics should post on nairaland. Thanks

PoliticsBoy, 13, Jailed For Tried To Kill Obasanjo's by Depointer1(op): 5:51pm On Apr 14, 2011
A 13-year-old boy, Precious Efurueze, who is accused of allegedly attempting to kill former president Olusegun Obasanjo and the governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, in Owerri on 31, March, by stoning their campaign convoy with sachets of pure water; was on Wednesday denied bail by a chief magistrate court in Owerri.

Master Efurueze is among 18 people charged with attempted murder for participation in the attack on Messrs. Obasanjo and Ohakim. Notable among the accused is Prince Madumere, the chief of staff to the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Rochas Okorocha.

At the resumed hearing of the suit yesterday the presiding magistrate, V.C Isiguzo, while delivering ruling on the application for bail for the accused, explained that her court has no jurisdiction on two of the charges because they are punishable by life imprisonment. Mrs. Isiguzo, however, turned down the accused's request to be granted bail until the conclusion of the substantive suit.

The chief magistrate explained that her reason for denying the accused bail is that they had been charged with felony which carries a punishment of life imprisonment if found guilty. She said the offence is a serious one and, therefore, should not be treated lightly.

Speaking to newsmen at the end of the court session, Greg Okemiri, the counsel representing the 12th to the 16th accused persons, while expressing his displeasure with the ruling of the magistrate, hinted that the reason the application was denied may be political. He was also angered by the continued detention of Master Efurueze who, he explained, under the law of the country, by virtue of being a minor, is considered incapable of committing a crime.

"The law describes him as not capable of committing crime yet," he said. "All these things are in our law. Sometimes I feel very sad that we do not want to do things right. You see someone who the law describes as not capable of committing a crime yet, and you remand him in an adult prison." Mr. Okemiri, however, stated that he has taken steps to see that the boy is released soon. The case was adjourned to May 30, for further hearing.

PoliticsAnambra Result Cancelled By INEC Over Irregularities by Depointer1(op): 7:46pm On Apr 11, 2011
Breaking News:
The Independent National Electoral Commission has cancelled the result of the senatorial election in Anambra Central Senatorial District.
It said a rerun would be fixed for a date to be announced soon.

The decision was announced at a press conference in Awka by the newly appointed Returning Officer for Anambra Central, Prof. Charles Esinone. The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Chukwuemeka Onukaogu, also attended the briefing, where he told newsmen that Esinone had been replaced the former RO, Mr. Alex Anene.

The major candidates in the election are a former governor of the state, Dr. Chris Ngige (Action Congress of Nigeria); ex-Minister of Information and Communications, Prof. Dora Akunyili (All Progressives Grand Alliance); and the incumbent, Chief Annie Okonkwo (Accord Party).

The declaration of the result ran into a deadlock when Anene said on Sunday that he was being pressurised by officials of the state government and APGA to declare Akunyili as the winner of the poll.

He had told newsmen in Awka that the interests promised him a house, scholarship for his children and N10 million if he declared Akunyili as the winner of the election and accepted the ‘mutilated’ result from Njikoka Local Government Area.

He said he rejected the gifts and was quitting the assignment because his conscience would not allow him to announce a mutilated result.
Ngige swiftly petitioned INEC, asking it to cancel the result in Anaocha Local Government Area because 22,000 votes were allocated in it to Akunyili.
However, at a separate briefing at her campaign office in Awka, Akunyili said that before the election, Anene was arrested with fake poll monitors and later released on bail. She alleged that instead of going to report to the police, Anene called journalists and raised allegations against her party.

Bankole weeps at remand home

Speaker, House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole at the weekend burst into tears on sighting the young inmates of a remand home in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

Mr. Bankole who was at the Bortal Remand Home, located in Adigbe area of the town to commission an Information Communication Technology(ICT) Centre he facilitated in the institution, could not hold back tears when being confronted with the bane of juvenile delinquency in the country. Apparently disturbed by the plight of the young inmates, the weeping Speaker found it difficult to address the young inmates, whose age ranges between 8-15 years.

The Speaker who expressed a desire to fully help the delinquents, noted that he wants to be fully briefed on the reform process of the students. Mr.Bankole said that with only three of the institutions in the country, he does not want to believe there are no juvenile delinquents in other parts of the country. He said the Nigerian society will be better off, if its leaders can address the ills afflicting youth at their tender stage before their attitudes are fully formed. ‘‘ICT centre is meant to give the inmates and staff, opportunity to be abreast of what is going on in the outside world as well as equip the children to fit easily into the larger society at the end of their reformation''.

The Ogun State Controller of Prison, Kunle Babalola said there are only three remand homes in Nigeria : located at Kaduna, Ilorin and Abeokuta. He said the humane nature of the Speaker must have accounted for his thoughtfulness in remembering this segment of the society for educational advancement.

Education centre

He noted that the establishment of the ICT centre is aimed at educating,

correcting and re-integrating the students into the society will be of great benefit to both the students and staff of this institution. ‘‘The ICT centre is aimed at educating, correcting and re-integrating the students into the society, and I am convinced that it will be of great benefit to both the students and staff of the institution'',Mr. Babalola stated .

The leader of the community where the institution is located, Olayinka Oyesiku commended Mr. Bankole for the project as well as the ongoing construction of Adigbe -Saraki road which is located in the community. He assured the Speaker of the community's support during the election, saying he has fully represented their interest at the Federal level through various constituency projects.

PoliticsShema Ignores Adc’s Death, Campaigns With Jonathan by Depointer1(op): 2:32am On Mar 17, 2011
Governor Ibrahim Shema of Katsina state and his guest, President Goodluck Jonathan stunned many yesterday as they ignored the death in an auto crash of the governor’s Aide de Camp (ADC), ASP Aminu Ibrahim, to hold the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign rally in the state.
Five persons, including the governor’s personal security aide were confirmed dead when Shema’s convoy was involved in an accident along Daura road on its way to receive President Goodluck Jonathan, who flew in from Zamfara state.
The accident, which occurred in Zakaliya village in Mashi local government area, along Katsina-Daura road around 9: 45 am, involved the governor’s official vehicle, a black Land Rover jeep and a commercial bus with registration number XA 668 ZAR.
An eye witness, Nasiru Abubakar told our correspondent that the driver of the commercial bus “was obviously scared when he heard the blaring siren on the governor’s convoy and lost control of his vehicle there by hitting the governor’s official vehicle.”
Our source said the accident occurred when the governor’s vehicle was trying to negotiate its way, adding that “we heard the screeching of tyres and suddenly the police in the governor’s convoy condoned off the area.”
It was gathered that the driver of the commercial bus was among those who lost their lives just as 10 other people were said to have been injured and receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina.
The late ADC was the only person who lost his life among those in the governor’s convoy.
But, in defiance of the death of the head of his personal security, Governor Shema, who was in the vehicle when the accident occurred proceeded to Daura where he received President Jonathan and joined the President in the presidential jet to travel to the Katsina International Airport.
The governor was also absent at the ADC’s burial which took place in Katsina metropolis.
On arrival in Katsina, President Goodluck Jonathan accompanied by Governor Shema visited the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumin Kabir Usman, proceeded to the Polo Ground, venue of the Jonathan campaign rally.
However, our correspondent gathered that many people at the venue of the rally on learning about the accident and death of Shema’s ADC began leaving the campaign venue in disgust.
Speaking at the rally, Governor Shema, who prayed for the repose of the soul of his late ADC, noted that the rally could have been grander, but for the accident and the subsequent death of his security aide.
He noted that playing of drums and similar merriments were not allowed as a mark of respect for the soul of the ADC and others who lost their lives in the accident and the decision that the rally be low key.
Addressing party supporters at the campaign rally, Shema said the PDP was the only national party in the country and assured that Katsina state would be delivered to the party at the forthcoming polls.
Also speaking, President Jonathan pledged that if elected, he would address the critical sectors of agriculture, education, power, road infrastructure, solid mineral development and irrigation.
He assured that his government would pay considerable attention to job creation so as to give hope to the youths, noting that “anything that late President Yar’adua could have done here, I will do.”
President Jonathan, who said he was in Katsina on a thank you visit because of the support he received from the state during the PDP primaries, noted that God used Alameyeseigha, Obasanjo and late Yar’adua, to bring him to political limelight, assuring that he would forever remain grateful to the Yar’adua family.

^^^^^
This is a typical example of the lack of respect from PDP. What if the governor wass killed in the accident? Would he has made it to the rally? He could not even attend his ADC's burial. May his soul rest in peace. But as for the Shema, ur own is right at ur doorstep.
