A man arrested at the Borno State Governor’s Lodge over the deadly Madalla Christmas Day bombing escaped from police custody on Sunday while he was being conveyed to a location in Abaji area of Abuja, Daily Trust learnt yesterday. Boko Haram suspect Kabiru Sokoto was arrested at the weekend during a police raid on the lodge, where he sneaked in through a friend who was given accommodation to stay overnight. He was said to be taken along with a Flight Lieutenant of the Nigerian Air Force to the Zone 7 Headquarters of the Police in Abuja. Sources told Daily Trust yesterday that Kabiru was taken to Abaji on Sunday, where he is said to own a house, to allow police conduct search. But he escaped at about 5.30pm at Abaji. Police went on a pursuit, firing shot and in the process a stray bullet hit and killed a 28-year-old man named Awwal Inuwa Ashafa, according to residents of the area. Pandemonium ensued as people run for cover. Ashafa, who had an HND in Building Engineering from Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, was shot in the chest. A witness said trouble started in the area when policemen from Abuja city brought Kabiru Sokoto in a Toyota Hilux van. A gang of youths flagged down the vehicle as it was heading for the Ona of Abaji’s Palace, creating a chaos during which the suspect escaped. The police had earlier taken the suspect to a house he owned at Abaji to conduct search and were on their way to the traditional head’s palace when the youths saw him in handcuffs and then blocked the road, the witness said. Kabiru seized the opportunity created by the youths and escaped. Meanwhile, the police fired shots in the air to disperse the youths, but one of the bullets hit a young man. Our reporter, observed soldiers, riot police and men of the FCT Special Anti-Robbery Squad positioned at various junctions in Abaji, while a police armoured vehicle was also seen stationed in the town. Abaji DPO, Superintendent Mathew Chukwkuma Okafor, was not available for comments. A senior police officer said four persons have been arrested over the incident. But spokesman for the FCT police command Moshood Jimoh said no suspect escaped custody from either the Abaji divisional police or from any other police unit there. http://dailytrust.com.ng/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=152494:madalla-blast-detained-suspect-escapes&catid=2:lead-stories&Itemid=8 |
Presidential Address On The Implementation Of The Deregulation Policy In The Downstream Sector Of The Petroleum Industry, Sunday, January 15, 2012 Dear Compatriots, 1. This is the second time in two weeks I will address you on the deregulation of the downstream petroleum sector. In the last seven days, the nation has witnessed a disruption of economic activities. Although, the economic imperatives for the policy have been well articulated by government, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) went ahead to declare a nationwide strike. 2. There was also near-breakdown of law and order in certain parts of the country as a result of the activities of some persons or groups of persons who took advantage of the situation to further their narrow interests by engaging in acts of intimidation, harassment and outright subversion of the Nigerian state. I express my sympathy to those who were adversely affected by the protests. 3. At the inception of the deregulation policy, Government had set up the Justice Alfa Belgore Committee to liaise with Labour and other stakeholders to address likely grey areas in the policy, but despite all our efforts, Labour refused the option of dialogue and also disobeyed a restraining order of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria. 4. However, following the intervention of the Leadership of the National Assembly, and other well-meaning Nigerians, Labour accepted to meet with government, but this yielded no tangible result. 5. It has become clear to government and all well-meaning Nigerians that other interests beyond the implementation of the deregulation policy have hijacked the protest. This has prevented an objective assessment and consideration of all the contending issues for which dialogue was initiated by government. These same interests seek to promote discord, anarchy, and insecurity to the detriment of public peace. 6. Government appreciates that the implementation of the deregulation policy would cause initial hardships and commends Nigerians who have put forth suggestions and credible alternatives in this regard. Government also salutes Nigerians who by and large, conducted themselves peacefully while expressing their grievances. Let me assure you that government will continue to respect the people's right to express themselves within the confines of the law and in accordance with the dictates of our democratic space. 7. Government will continue to pursue full deregulation of the downstream petroleum sector. However, given the hardships being suffered by Nigerians, and after due consideration and consultations with state governors and the leadership of the National Assembly, government has approved the reduction of the pump price of petrol to N97 per litre. The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) has been directed to ensure compliance with this new pump price. 8. Government is working hard to reduce recurrent expenditure in line with current realities and to cut down on the cost of governance. In the meantime, government has commenced the implementation of the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment projects: including the Federal Government- assisted mass transit programme which is already in place, and job creation for the youth. 9. Furthermore, the legal and regulatory regime for the petroleum industry will be reviewed to address accountability issues and current lapses in the Industry. In this regard, the Petroleum Industry Bill will be given accelerated attention. The report of the forensic audit carried out on the NNPC is being studied with a view to implementing the recommendations and sanctioning proven acts of corruption in the industry. 10. Let me assure Nigerians that this administration is irrevocably committed to tackling corruption in the petroleum industry as well as other sectors of the economy. Consequently, all those found to have contributed one way or the other to the economic adversity of the country will be dealt with in accordance with the law. 11. My dear compatriots, I urge you to show understanding for the imperatives of the adjustment in the pump price of petrol and give government your full support to ensure its successful implementation. I further appeal to Nigerians to go back to work and go about their normal duties as government has made adequate arrangements for the protection of life and property throughout the federation. 12. Government will not condone brazen acts of criminality and subversion. As President, I have sworn to uphold the unity, peace and order of the Nigerian State and by the grace of God, I intend to fully and effectively discharge that responsibility. Let me add that we are desirous of further engagements with Labour. I urge our Labour leaders to call off their strike, and go back to work. 13. Nigeria belongs to all of us and we must collectively safeguard its unity. 14. Thank you. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. GOODLUCK EBELE JONATHAN, GCFR President, Federal Republic of Nigeria http://saharareporters.com/press-release/goodluck-jonathans-presidential-address-implementation-deregulation-policy-embargoed |

The governors elected on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) met on Saturday, 7 January, 2012 at Lagos House, Marina, Lagos. The meeting deliberated on the recent removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government. Four Governors were in attendance: Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), Lagos, Dr. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola of Osun, and Senator Ibikunle Amosun FCA of Ogun. Two governors, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of Edo and Senator Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo were unavoidably absent. The governors who attended the meeting resolved as follows: “That the responsibility for managing the nation’s petroleum resources is that of the Federal Government “That the pre-occupation of ACN as a party and its governors is the welfare and security of our people “Our party has already expressed its reservation about the recent policy of the Federal Government regarding fuel subsidy, particularly its sudden implementation. We fully associate ourselves with the position of our party ” In our view, the debate on the fuel subsidy is a narrow one. Subsidy is a financial and economic tool, not an end in itself. We are more concerned about the totality of the economy. For this reason, it is imperative to immediately implement the long-standing demand for fiscal federalism. “The first step in this direction is the immediate review of the lopsided revenue allocation formula. “Our commitment to the welfare of our people remains irrevocable despite the challenging global and local economic situations. We are also unwavering in our commitment to the deepening of democracy and the enhancement of peace and security in our dear country, as necessary conditions for the successful implementation of life enhancing economic policies and programmes that enjoy the support of our people, and reduce the burden on them. ” In the meantime, we enjoin our people to show restraint and eschew violence even as they exercise their constitutional rights.” http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2012/01/07/acn-govs-declare-position-on-subsidy/ |

@Mobinga thank you. even that picture u posted alone should call for his impeachment. 70% of people killed were igbo, ijaw, and yoruba, and that is his region. Well, my SS and SS brothers and sisters can see who they rigged in blindly and massively. Next time they will know that it doesnt matter where a president should come from. You applied sentiment during election but ask yourself, does GEJ's picture show care about more than 40 people that were killed in the blast? |
look at him well dressed, robust, relaxed and full of fun as if nothing happened. |
Over 40 lives have been lost and many injured. This is the one you all voted in to bring peace into the nation. Dont you think Nigeria is finished with this Man still be the president? |
Does this show any seriousness in the President? Would you expect the same body language from Obama or Cameron? Does this show competence in this President? Can someone analyse or evaluate what you see in this picture? http://saharareporters.com/photo/photonewsboko-haram-insurgency-sultan-rescue |
Abuja - Following an emergency joint session of both legislative houses, a new law has been passed that basically makes it a criminal offence to diss the first lady. The new law, called the Patience law, comes into effect immediately. Official notification of the law has been sent to TV stations, newspapers and on-line news sites and web-blogs. The law is in response to what some in government have descried as disrespectful lampooning of the person of the current first-lady by unpatriotic elements. Speaking to journalists at the Federal house of assembly, a spokesperson for the lawmakers said: "Some people just have no respect for their elders. They keep attacking this poor woman in an attempt to stain the character of her husband, our dear president. But all that will end now. With this new law we have passed today, anyone who dares to insult the first-lady will face a five year jail term." Coincidently, five years imprisonment is also the punishment in Nigeria for homosexuality. When asked by reporters to give examples of the offensive things that have been said about the first-lady, thus necessitating the new law, the lawmaker declined to answer stating instead that: "Even repeating them, is a crime." He was asked if this new law will apply to all subsequent first-ladies. His response: "Not everybody has problems with English." - Joe Aibozaw http://www./profiles/blogs/5-years-imprisonment-for-any-individual-that-diss-the-first-lady- |

The Nigeria Police Force has launched a massive plan to combat protests and riots that may occur in reaction to the Federal Government’s removal of subsidy on petroleum products. SUNDAY PUNCH learnt during the week that the plan includes the deployment of anti-riot policemen to sensitive commands, the procurement of riot gear and the re-evaluation of the level of preparedness of the police. Our correspondents gathered that the Force Headquarters, Abuja, put all the state commands on high alert following the Nigeria Labour Congress’ recent warning that Nigerians should get ready for mass action. On Tuesday, President Goodluck Jonathan presented the 2012 budget proposal to the National Assembly, without providing for the fuel subsidy. Reacting, the Acting General Secretary of the NLC, Mr. Owei Lakemfa, said protest was inevitable. He had said, "The exclusion of fuel subsidy in the budget is not only tragic, but a declaration of war on the Nigerian people. Thus, the Nigerian people will have no choice but to confront this challenge. "We call on all Nigerian workers and people to begin preparations for a general strike and mass protest. The people must be prepared in the next few weeks when the Jonathan administration begins to implement his anti-Nigerian policy. Nigerians should prepare to occupy the streets and public institutions to prevent them from being taken over by unpatriotic forces." SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that the police authorities launched the plan to curtail the protest shortly after Lakemfa’s declaration. Some of our correspondents report that the increased police presence in many states on Thursday; and the deployment of policemen to "sensitive and important national installations" were a part of this plan. In some states, it was learnt that the police commands had placed orders for more riot gear to contain the protesters while security meetings had been going on on how best to tackle the mass action. The Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Yemi Ajayi, said the police would not prevent a peaceful protest because it ceased to use force against protesters since 2003. "We won’t stop Nigerians from protesting as long as it’s peaceful; we are only against troublemakers and miscreants who may want to take advantage of the demonstration to steal or foment trouble," he said. ILORIN: ‘We have placed orders for riot gear and weapons’ The Police Public Relations Officer, Kwara State Command, Mr. Dabo Ezekiel, said the command had placed orders for riot gear and other weapons. He stated that this was a proactive measure to sustain peace in the state. Ezekiel said, "I cannot comment on whether we have made any contingency arrangements because for now, we have not got any intelligence report. Kwara is a peaceful state. But we have placed orders for riot gear and weapons." The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Peter Gana, also confirmed that the state was acquiring more riot gadgets. He said, "It is an ongoing process across the states. We have ordered for ours." ONDO: ‘No protest will take place here’ The Ondo state police command said it was ready to stop any form of protest that might arise from the removal of subsidy. The PPRO, Mr. Adeniran Aremu, said patrol vehicles had been stationed in strategic points in Akure and other major towns. He added that the police were carrying out ‘stop and search’ on vehicles owned by suspected persons that were likely to cause breach of public peace. He said, "We have enough personnel and equipment to stop any uprising." KADUNA: Mobile police squadron, Operation Yaki deployed The Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna State Command, Aminu Lawan, told our correspondent that special riot and regular policemen had been deployed to various flashpoints across the state. Lawan said, "We have an elaborate operational order in place already. All our men are committed. Four units of mobile police have been deployed to Southern Kaduna and additional 80 conventional policemen have also been deployed there. This is apart from the policemen serving in all the divisions in Southern Kaduna. "In the Zaria axis, we already have the Mobile Police Squadron. They are committed to beefing up security in that area. Operation Yaki men comprising the police and the military as well as the riders will also patrol throughout the state up to Birnin Gwari." CALABAR: Police deploy men in strategic locations In Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, the police said it had deployed their men in some ‘strategic locations’. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Hogan Bassey, who waxed philosophical, said, "Woodrow Wilson once said that it pays to plan ahead for Noah did not see the flood when he built the ark. "We do not need intelligence report. When there is any policy change, such as oil subsidy removal, we have to put in place necessary strategies. As I speak, the police in this command are undergoing continuous training, while others have been positioned in strategic places both within and outside the state capital." However, Bassey, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, did not mention the hot spots where the police personnel had been positioned, but our correspondent gathered that some of the likely areas were the University of Calabar, Cross River University of Technology, Marina Resort area, Calabar South and Watt Market. ENUGU: ‘We will intensify our strategy’ The Enugu State Police Command said it was fully prepared to deal with any crisis or contingencies that might arise due to removal of the fuel subsidy. The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, said, "We are not aware of any impending crisis or trouble in the state. We have a security network and strategy that can cope very well with any given situation. We would, however, intensify our strategy." For the hot spots that are likely to receive special attention, Amaraizu said, "Every spot or community in Enugu State has always received special attention. Proactive policing is better than reactive policing. We do not have to wait for a riot to take place before we act." DELTA: ‘We are fully on ground’ The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Charles Muka, said the police were fully on the ground to ensure that anyone who broke the law in the guise of protesting against the proposed subsidy would be fully dealt with. He said, "We are fully on the ground for any eventuality. We will make sure that nobody introduces violence in the process of enforcing the demonstration.’’ JOS: Helicopter on surveillance In Jos, more soldiers and mobile policemen have been deployed in the streets, apparently to forestall any breakdown of law and order in the event of a possible backlash from the proposed removal of fuel subsidy. One of our correspondents reports that a helicopter has been hovering in the air while armoured personnel carriers have been stationed at strategic points. When our correspondent called the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Apev James, he said he was in a meeting and would call back but he had yet to do so as at press time. A senior police officer, however, told SUNDAY PUNCH on the condition of anonymity that the police were not taking any chances. He said more men and weapons would be on the streets if there was a demonstration because of the nature of Jos. BAYELSA: ‘We have adequate security arrangements’ The Police Public Relations Officer for the state, Mr. Egoaveon Emokpai, told our correspondent that it was the custom of the command to remain battle-ready to deal with security challenges. He said, "For now we are not worried about the fuel subsidy removal because we have adequate security arrangements in place to deal with security challenges in the state. We are, however, strengthening our security network in the Yuletide to forestall the breakdown of law and order." ANAMBRA: ‘We have enough men and facilities on ground’ The Anambra State Police Command has said it has enough men and facilities on ground to contain any public disorder that may greet the proposed withdrawal of fuel subsidy. The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka, told SUNDAY PUNCH on Friday that policemen were on the alert to respond to the situation. Chukwuemeka however declined giving further details on the strategy to be adopted. http://www.punchng.com/index.php/news/item/8062-police-prepare-to-crush-pro-subsidy-protests |

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday urged the church to support his transformation agenda. He also asked for the backing of Nigerians in his plan to remove fuel subsidy. The President who spoke yesterday through the Minister of Labour and Productivity,Mr.Emeka Nwogwu at this year’s Holy Ghost Congress at the Redeemed City,Ogun State, said “I am guided by biblical principles of transparency in leadership. Government is pursuing the agenda of regaining government trust in the eyes of the people through his security agenda to foster unity and peace". Jonathan pleaded with the General Overseer GO of the Redeemed Christain Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye to pray for him and thanked the church and the GO for their support during the April presidential election which he won. He said his victory was made possible through the prayers of Adeboye. Nwogwu said the president won't let Nigeria and Nigerians down as he takes every decision with them in mind. "A new thing has happened in Nigeria because your brother and friend, the president shares your vision,”the minister said. Adeboye gave the theme for the first 2012 Holy Ghost Service in January,: 'A New Alter to the Lord'. He prayed for the countryand expressed optimism that Nigeria would be better and “experience a new dawn.” A total of 30 babies: 15 boys and 15 girls were born during the one week convention. Dignitaries at the service included the wives of the Ogun State governor, Mrs Olufunso Amosun;that of Lagos State, Dame Abimbola Fashola; and deputy governor of Lagos State,Mrs Adejoke Adefulire-Orelope, who implored religious leaders to keep praying for leaders. Also present were delegates from different parts of the world. http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news/30168-pray-for-me-jonathan-begs-adeboye.html |

Former Head of State and presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, (CPC) General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) has decried the near-collapse of infrastructure in the country, saying the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has nothing to offer the country. Addressing loyalists and supporters of the party during the grand finale of the campaign of the governorship candidate of the CPC for Kogi State, Mr. James Ocholi (SAN) in Lokoja yesterday, Gen. Buhari said the country would be better off without the PDP. He urged the present crop of leaders in the country to always take the interest of the masses into consideration in whatever they do, adding that his concern was for the ordinary Nigerians. The former head of state added that despite the huge revenue the nation had generated from the sale of crude oil since the return to civilian rule, the lives of the downtrodden have not improved. He further urged Nigerians to take their destiny in their own hands by shunning corrupt politicians so as to put the nation on the path of prosperity. Calling on the electorate to vote for Ocholi in Saturday’s governorship poll, Buhari stressed the need for the people of the state to vote a candidate that would improve their welfare. He maintained that the party would continue to enforce discipline as well as work for the wellbeing of the people, assuring that all governors elected under the platform of the party would continue to be accountable to the people. Nasarawa State governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura had, earlier in his remark, said the CPC was laying a solid foundation for the country’s democracy, assuring that they would continue to uphold the party’s virtues of accountability, honesty, integrity and fear of God. He urged the teeming supporters of the party in the state not be scared of the PDP’s rhetoric, deception or grammar, urging them to vote them out on Saturday. He described the CPC as the party of the downtrodden, saying their programmes were meant to improve the living condition of the people. Ocholi had also in his remark promised to utilise the resources of the state, for the wellbeing of the people if elected, saying he was poised to transforming the state. He promised to accord youth and women empowerment top priority, even as he assured that both the old and pregnant women would be given free medical care. |
Why the name withheld for heaven sake? the journalism in our country is biased. That's why the education in Nigeria is in disarray. How would a country be developed with this type of mess? Eagle-eyed men of Abia State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have arrested one Chetachi Obi , the Personal Assistant (PA) to a member representing the state at the National Assembly, (names withheld) for alleged examination fraud. Obi was arrested with another woman suspected to be the invigilator for allegedly sitting for the current Nov/Dec NABTEB examination for her boss. Obi and the invigilator were arrested at Unique Comprehensive High School , Isuochi following a tip-off from those who have observed that Obi had been writing the examination daily since it started on November 10. Obi , who has been coming to the exam hall in her private Volkswagen Golf car, was arrested and her car impounded and parked at Isuochi police station. She was arrested yesterday while she was sitting for Mathematics, in connivance with the invigilator. A source said detectives had laid siege for Obi , When the police got to Umunneochi in a white Mercedes Benz salon car, marked , KADUNA AE 378 KGK, they reported at the police station as men who are on surveillance. “Unknown to Obi that danger was lurking inside the school , she drove into the school in her Golf car as usual , and sat down for the day’s business. Not quite five minutes into the exercise, the detectives arrested her. Speaking to Daily Sun on the matter, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), for the state CID, Mr Joseph MicLoth, confirmed the arrests, stating that he was yet to be briefed on the matter and he would in turn brief his boss, the commissioner, before investigation continues. “The matter was reported to me and I detailed my men for the arrest. It is true that they have been arrested , but we have been on a meeting since morning. Now that I am back to the office, they will come and brief me and I in turn will go and brief my boss, the state Commissioner of Police. There is nothing else I can tell you gentlemen now”, MicLoth said. Details of the examination are as follows. Exam: NABTEB., Centre: Unique Comprehensive High School, Isuochi.,Year of Examination: Nov./Dec, 20011., Centre Code: 01060., Candidate’s No: 01060085., Name of Candidate: (Rep’s name withheld by us). The picture of the honorable member is also attached to her examination card, showing that she was the one that entered for the examination , but ironically , her PA, Chetachi Obi was the one that had been sitting for the exams for her since the exercise started. Our investigation shows that the lawmaker, who is a committee chairman, presented a diploma certificate and Masters degree to the National Assembly as her qualifications. One wonders what she would be doing with a NABTEB Certificate if her claim is true. The suspects who are being held at the state CID are yet to make statements , a police source said , as Daily Sun observed that a particular man was following the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) in charge of the case, probably in an effort to settle the matter out of the official process. After several attempts to get the lawmaker on her mobile phone when she finally picked up her call at about 7 pm last night, she claimed that it was a wrong number. Before she said it was wrong number, she had demanded for the reasons for the call and she was duly informed. THE self-acclaimed chief spokesman of the dreaded Boko Haram sect, Ali Sanda Umar Konduga, popularly known in media circles as Usman Al-Zawahiri, has been nabbed by the Department of State Security Service (SSS), just as he opened up on those backing the sect. Fielding questions from newsmen at the SSS headquarters in Abuja, on Monday, Umar named former Governor Ali Modu Sheriff, the late Ambassador Sheidu Pinda and serving Senator Ali Ndume, both of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the real brains behind the group in Borno State. Umar, who spoke through an interpreter, explained that members of the group had a good working relationship with former Governor Sheriff, of the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) until he fell out with the group after sacking a member of the group from his cabinet, a commissioner, who was later murdered. According to him, “Usman Al-Zawahiri is not my real name; it was given to me to portray me as an extremist and as well to conceal my true identity. We were political thugs to former Governor Sheriff until the relationship went sour. We switched over to the late Ambassador Pinda, who promised me N10 million to work for his political party, the PDP, in Borno State during the last elections. “Unfortunately, Ambassador Pinda died on his way to make the part payment of N5million and Senator Ali Ndume took over from where the late ambassador stopped.” Umar, who described himself as a student under the late Boko Haram leader, Mohammed Yusuf, claimed that Senator Ndume “scripted and relayed” to him all threat text messages he sent to prominent Nigerians. Those prominent Nigerians, according to him, included former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; Justice Sabo Adamu and other judges of the Election Petitions Tribunal in Borno State; Governors Sule Lamido of Jigawa State; Babangida Aliyu of Niger State; Ambassador Dalhatu Sarki Tafida, Director-General of President Goodluck Jonathan Presidential Campaign Organisation and Senator Sanusi Dagash, former Works and Housing Minister, among others. He said that the threat messages were being sent to former President Olusegun Obasanjo based on the belief that he had sympathy for the former and present governors of Borno State, while same messages were sent to Senator Dagash when it became clear to them that he was allegedly going to sabotage the electoral victory of the PDP in Borno State despite the fact that he was a member of the party. He revealed that the text messages of the group, which forced the Borno State Election Petitions Tribunal to be relocated from Maiduguri to Abuja as well as those sent to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Mohammed Adoke, were meant to compel him (AGF) to influence the judgment of the tribunal against the government in Borno State. He said that the same Senator Ndume, who was a member of the Presidential Committee on the Security in the North-East, promised to supply the telephone numbers of the members of the security committee to the group for necessary action before he was eventually picked up by security operatives. When questioned about the grievances of the group, Mallam Umar hinged them on what he described as “failed promises and lack of political will on the part of the government to fulfill its numerous promises.” http://www.tribune.com.ng/index.php/front-page-news/31593-modu-sheriff-ndume-pindar-behind-boko-haram-sect-spokesman-opens-can-of-worms-jtf-arrests-13-over-yobe-bombings-how-we-sent-threat-messages-to-obj-govs-aliyu-lamido-others |
