Great, but what will be your basis?

I do not know whether it is God's word.I do not know that God has any word. When people claim that it is I ask how they know that is what my brain is for ..............
Do you know the difference between a person who doesn't know yet wants to argue and a person who sincerely wants to know?
Christianity Etc › Re: Anita Ebhodaghe: I’m Still Divorced, Not A Part Of Christ Embassy by derecho(m): 4:35pm On May 29, 2016
Why do you think it's not God's word?
omonnakoda:
How do we know they are the word of God. The Quran too makes the same claim why should I believe any of them? They are just claims made by men. God has never come to confirm any of this.

My question remains unanswered Who was it that authorized or sanctioned the 27 books of the New Testament as scripture and when
DO YOU KNOW? yes or no

I kno sabi wetin cause dem divorce but assuming itz infidelity.Do you think Divorce is the only way out?Secondly, how has she helped her husband by this action? Can she claim she is anyway different from ladies who never read the bible, whose inspiration is what is read online or Nairaland Romance Section?A Christian's Mirror is the Word of God not what the world thinks. We live for Christ and not ourselves.

Understand the statement-Any MAN that Jerry curls(even from Belle),Bleaches,Wears all those jewelries has a problem.

It's not the rapist that invites the police,it's the rapee-.The man might have bent on hiding and sweeping the crime whatsoever under the carpet because of social status, and the woman said no.Common don't you know that most of the marriages of these so called men of God are very violent, disastrous and worse than the unbelievers' own. They tend and continue to sweep it under the carpet because of social status.I really don't want to call names that you already know-it's Sunday !In UK about a week ago a Nigerian pastor was disgraced by the congregation in the church during service and do you know why?

My sister Forgiveness is a Command, for those interested in going to heaven. Our Forgivess should not have limit.Remember, the 70*7 times? No man or woman can serve God acceptably without Grace.
There are people with worse situations yet they came out better.
If we faint in the days of adversity, our strength is small.
Do you know God will never allow a temptation greater than us come our way? However,we may choose to fail God.Check 1 Cor.10:13.
Chommieblaq:
Ma dear I get u, buh most people that divorce cos of adultery, don't just divorce at the first case of it, maybe her patience has reached its elastic limit, her forgiveness has been over used.

One time about such thing is that at a point the love will be lost, they will just be tolerating each other and at some point u will get tired of tolerating. It was her marriage, so she knows if she can take it or not, Ma point is let's not be quick to condemn her, we ain't in her shoes.

Come to think of it, for a lady that stayed in a marriage that produce how many grown kids to decide to call it quit. Hmmmmmmmmmm

bros, the bible changed.

Christians just refuse to acknowledge there was a change. I'm sure you will find disparities in the words of the old testament and new testament. There's probably more records of the Bible the Catholic church doesn't trust the rest of the Christian body with.
There's no disparity...I use to think so as kid.But when I started studying myself,I understood better. The Old testament was a shadow of what Jesus came to illuminate. The Pharisees read the bible like literature students that was why they had issues with Jesus.
My Sister bible no be novel.Pharisee /Barrister Saul(Later Paul)soon realized this.
The letter killeth but the Spirit giveth life.

Mature...and apt
thesicilian:
No, actually my query this time around is quite logical. There is a saying that he who must come to equity must come with clean hands. If you do not even understand or even believe in Christian ethics and principles what moral grounds do you have to question Christian behaviour?

In Summary, all I'm saying is place your cards on the table and we'll talk. In short, I'm ready to create a whole new thread to debate the issue
Christianity Etc › Re: Anita Ebhodaghe: I’m Still Divorced, Not A Part Of Christ Embassy by derecho(m): 2:50pm On May 29, 2016
Bros,no one says she's not pained or doesn't know her husband better than us.It would have been different case if wasn't representing Christ.
I hate to see those who claim to be born again behave the same way an unbeliever will behave.Just imagine if she was married to an unbeliever who flirts,so her solution would be divorce?
epistleNow:
I don't know them personally and don't totally agree with what they preach.

But I do wonder How we like to that take up responsibility to defend people we don't know personally or otherwise.

If a woman who has spent most of her adult life says something is wrong with her relationship and showed how she tried to manage this for years only to be rebuked for wanting to be with her husband ...

Saying her husband is in inappropriate .......

Bros @thesicilian , I lost steam.

I think the Church follow leaders and not Christ.
Christianity Etc › Re: Anita Ebhodaghe: I’m Still Divorced, Not A Part Of Christ Embassy by derecho(m): 2:25pm On May 29, 2016
My sister, don't conclude that way.Let me ask you,Do you think in all her years of being a pastor, she hasnr counselled couples or atleast women facing such? What do you think she would have told them?Divorce and not forgive because of infidelity?Would she have even suggested divorce for unbelievers? What about the Love and Forgiveness she preached?A Child of God isn't the same and wont react to situations the way an unbeliever would.
Yes,she may decide to take the easy way out,but she shouldn't forget that IF WE DO NOT FORGIVE MEN THEIR TRESPASSES,OUR HEAVENLY FATHER WILL NOT FORGIVE US.
Chommieblaq:
Some Nigerians are just so naive in their thinking, if she can't deal with the issues in her marriage then let her go, this how they keep encouraging couples in abusive marriage to stay n endure buh when one loses his/her life they will start condemning.

So what if she's a pastor, she should rather die in silent, if she can't deal let her go and moreover her basis for divorce is infidelity n last I checked d Bible supports divorce if the cause is adultery.
Christianity Etc › Re: Anita Ebhodaghe: I’m Still Divorced, Not A Part Of Christ Embassy by derecho(m): 2:02pm On May 29, 2016
The bible should be reviewed to suit you?Sorry the Bible wont change because of anyone.God will not change His Word because of our perception of Modernity. He saw the end from the beginning and His Word is FOREVER SETTLED.Instead of asking for a review,ASK FOR GRACE,my sister
safarigirl:
so, she should die inside to save a marriage with an unrepentant philanderer?

This is why I always advocate for a review of the Bible, the world is not as it was 20 centuries ago. The realities of today do not nreflect the realities of the days in the time of Jesus.

Even at that, I believe adultery is a ground for divorce under Christianity, so?

Hahaha, you just remind me of those days as kids we try to change those proverbs. No matter the adjective,na still LIZARD.
Just one question sir, are you in any way suggesting that all Nigerians resident in Canada are wealthier than the ones here?Or don't we have poor nigerians in Canada? My friend it's in the mind(Mentality)
AntiWailer:
That is a big lie to comfort yourself to remain here because of lack of opportunity and exposure.

A Lizard in canada will be a fresh Lizard with animal right protection and no crazy Sun.

A lizard in Nigeria would be killed with stones.

I hope you get the difference even with your analogy,
Celebrities › Re: Kwam1's Son's Canadian Citizenship & Degree Certificate by derecho(m): 10:58am On May 24, 2016
Friend, become successful here and see how those countries will beg you to come.A lizard in Nigeria will still be a Lizard in Canada
AntiWailer:
It is not low self esteem.

With that other rubbish passport you would be treated like criminal any where you enter.

With Canadian Passport you will enter plenty countries without embarrassment from their Visa Office.

Don't be fooled all the politicians you fight for have multiple passports. Even your Senate President , Oyo STate Governor etc.

I wonder who advises these people. What will N5000 do for the so-called poor? Why not empower the productive lot? Some of these guys can do one thing or the other.Get a database of the unemployed generally,Group them according to interest and capability, fund them and give them a target under seasoned Supervisors.Wait and see the multipliers effect.

Alternatively, subsidize goods patronized by poor and tax goods exclusive to the rich.Instead of wasting money you claim is non-existent

I'm wowed by all I have seen from this thread and the deltan thread. However, what makes a man/woman great is not where you come from but your ability to fulfil your destiny(God's purpose for creating you).He also has a reason for giving you a particular parentage.
Since I learned,Job 32:9a which says:Great Men are NOT ALWAYS Wise..and discovering 2 Cor. 10:12, I softpedalled on somethings.
Here on Earth, what will distinguish you?Methink Your Uniqueness,Your Originality imbued with Godly values.
Moreover,Your State should be thankful to God for having you not you being grateful belonging to a State.
If You've met Jesus, how many of your people have met Him?
The culture/customs of your community, who did you think established them?humans like you. Can you be the improvement needed or continue in the established norm?
Finally, some of those celebrated here got to where they are through dishonest means.Would you like such legacies for your children? If it doesn't matter now, what about when it matters-When you meet your Maker.

Summary,You have what You have for a purpose. You are where you are for a purpose. You know what you know, for a purpose.Whether you like it or not, you'd give account.

Tnx for your opinion
greenpasture:
What do you mean non Christian standards? Is it dressing? How does this constitute intimidation?

What I do know is that Christianity is not the struggling to live by a code of behaviour. It is the outliving of the life of Christ granted on conversion. Birds fly, fish swim and all things act according to their nature. The believer will naturally live out of life of Christ. Behaviour modification as espoused by the institutional church is not Christian and in fact it is the reason it is so easy to deceive; just wear the right outfits, say the right things and you are a Christian.

True Christianity cannot be intimated or cowed because the life lived is not from the earth but from above.

Even if churches are banned and evangelism becomes an offence, Christianity will grow and abound. It's enemy is complacency, internal corruption and any pacts with politics and the world's system of thought and what are those systems? That might is right, the ends justify the means and wealth is the singular sign of approval by God.

So when you speak of Turkey, know this, the enemy is not flesh and blood, it is not Islam or paganism, but a system of worldly thinking that can corrupt the church from within the heart, affections and priorities.

Let us not be deceived to wage war like ordinary men who live by what they see and hear.
