Are u guys not interested in education and self development?

Those who completed their Msc or are still running the program with tight work schedule, please tell us your experiences
and how you were able to cope or are still coping with the program.

Do well to tell us the university it may be relevant to some decisions.

Four years ago, I was in your shoes.

I had an HND(Distinction) in accounting and ACA.

The discrimination was just too much. My friend told me the painful truth. He ask me to go back to school for a Bsc in Accounting.

I thought of this, with children school fees to pay, family to feed and cloth and other important financial responsibilities to meet, how could I possibly add another responsiblity of paying university school fees for myself. It wasn't an easy decision.

In 2012, then i was 38 years, i took a bold step that is later to be one of the important decisions of my life. I enrolled for a Bsc accounting in Anambra state university.

It was not an easy journey, but the support i got from my wife made things a whole lot easier. I completed the program in December 2015 after 4 years of struggle. I collected my statement of result in September 2016. The good thing is that i finished with First Class (honours).

Today, as I am typing this, I am gainfully employed with my Bsc result. By next year, God willing, I will start my MSc in Accounting.

Sir, the truth is that you need a Bsc if ever you want to be a lecturer. MBA is not an accademic masters and as such is not recognised in the academic environment.

In my class during the Bsc days, I had a coursemate who is older than me and who came in with the following qualifications: HND, PGD, MSC, ACA, ACIT. Yet he came back to do Bsc.

On a final note, NEVER LET AGE STOP YOU FROM ACCOMPLISHING A NOBLE IDEA.

BSC VS HND COMPETITION IN ENGINEERING WILL EXPOSE THEIR WEAKNESS. I AM VERY SURE THAT BSC HOLDERS CANT MATCH US IN THE FIELD OF ENGINEERING.

the guy defending polytechnic graduates is in addition to being ignorant hard to convince due to the fact that he had telepathically stressed his mind on this idea of polytechnic graduates superiority a reason he finds it hard to accept new dimension


in the field of Engineering that he is making reference to, he should remember that all successful engineering projects re based on "designabilty and constructability"


every sustainable practical engineering inventions is a product of sound design.....university education is research based while that of polytechnic is not.

Good decision.

I have always said that doing PGD after HND is not a good option.

The best option is always to go for a Bsc.

Maintain your current GP. You are most likely finishing with a 1st class.

What pains me most is the fact that this HND holders are made to do PGD before doing any Masters course. And it has never been recorded that they performed poorly in these programs. And yet some bias people will come out and condemn the poly HND graduates that they are not graduates. If they are not graduates why are they admitted into PGD programs? Is PGD not a postgraduate qualification that is higher than a bachelor's degree? Funny enough in some countries like UK, US, Canada, Ukraine, etc, they allow holders of nigerian HND with good grades to do a Masters program directly without having to do a PGD first. Nigerian government should begin to invest more on technical/technological education as that is what the country needs at the moment for positive growth and development. The university system has failed the nation in the areas of research & development as well as churnning out low quality degree holders who will always hide behind the certificate mentality thing to get a job.

I told her I av HND and I will go any lenght to defend it dat som BSC cannot even stand b4 me.

Let me start by saying, I'm an Hnd holder. Having gone through posts on this forum where some of my fellow Hnd holders bemoan their fate in the in the labour market, I cannot but say, upgrade what u currently have by enrolling into a university of your choice for a part-time Bsc program. Whether you go ahead to get PGD, MSC or professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CISA, COREN, CITN, etc, the discrimination will still be there without a Bsc certification. Even with my HND(Distinction) Acct, ACA, i find it difficult to believe that many organisations will publish vacancy requiring only university degree. Folks, we have to get this Bsc. Even though at my age (37) I should have obtained an MSC and one or two more professional qualifications; but i have made up my mind to go for a Bsc come next year 2013. Some universities will start you from 200 level, while some like IMSU will give 300 level. Plsease, be encouraged. Responses are encouraged.

Can a holder of Bsc( Accounting) be admitted into Msc (Finance) in your school?

Is it possible for a person, who resides in Lagos and who has a busy official, to schedule successfully complete Msc part time in your school?

Please i need urgent response to guide my decisions.
