delishpot: This may sound off point but it would be better for poly students to do direct entry into Uni just after OND. No knowledge is wasted but with tge way HND holders are treated by employers, why not do BSc after OND? Anyhow, I did not do HND sha. I crossed over to Uni after my OND. |

What motivated you into doing a Bsc instead of Pgd?
Given a second chance, will you still do Bsc instead of Pgd?
Please, share your experiences. |

yamakuza: ^ thanks for chipping in.
Are those rates per subject for early 2000?
1k3/mth in surulere is almost impossible now. If its not 5k/mth for 8 subjects now, it'd be 3k or 2k5 min.
As per lekki private coaching, 50k or 60k/mth is not uncommon nowadays for SAT, IGCSE, etc.
Op can extrapolate the other rates, or ask around for current rates.
All in all, thats quite a manual you have there.
Thanks again! |

tanimola22: Hi,
This is the catch. You go to a rich family and present yourself as the coordinator of a certain top class tutorial centre. The family tells you that their daughter or son is awful in physics, chemistry and math and therefore needs some help. You say OK, you will send down your teachers to get the job done. You then create a weekly time table with the student and his/her parents. The weekly timetable is such that 3 hours are allocated to math, 2 hours to physics and 2 hours to chemistry. You sum the hours to get 7hours/week. You multiply this number by the number of weeks your service is needed. The answer you obtain is the gross number of hours. At this point, you charge the family an hourly rate of 1700naira. After much bargaining, you agree to go with 1100 per hour. You then multiply this amount by the gross number of hours to obtain the full amount. The contract is signed and everyone is happy. The week later, you inform your physics, chemistry and math teachers to go to so so so and so house to tutor so so so and so student for so so so and so hours in a week. You can even decide to pay them half of the actual hourly rate. It is business, you know.
So, it would be more appropriate to view the rates as per hour rather than as per subject. Also, please note that not all subjects are considered useful. In my experience, parents of core science students would only hire private tutors to teach the students phy chem bio math further maths english or any other subject that cannot be understood by cramming.
Private tutoring is more profitable and provides more exposure. Much of the inspirations I got to aspire for bigger things in life, I got them by tutoring students whose parents had fame, unbelievable houses abi na castles and unimaginable wealth. Through private tutoring, my naked eyes saw things that many people can only dream about.
It is very obvious that I only have good things to say about tutoring. I don't blame myself for that sha.

Dereformer: A highly powered meeting is currently going on in an undisclosed location. A source privy to the meeting states that the former president is not comfortable with APC' s choice of GMB. According to him, OBJ would have prefered the kano state governor HE kwankwaso.
OBJ is deeply hurt because he considers GMB a threat following their relationship during the latters dictatorial regime.
Again, OBJ is not comfortable with any past military coupist running the affairs of the country.
Their has been a cold supremacy battle between OBJ and Tinubu as to who really is the leader of the yorubas. Allowing Tinubu's stooge and party to win next year's election will ultimately make him very powerful.
As it stands now, a good deal may be cut with GEJ which will see the teeming supporters and followers of the former president joining forces with PDP to win next years election.
There are indeed more exciting days ahead. |

Politics › Re: Channelstv Presidential Debate: A.P.C Should Stop Misleading The General by Dereformer(m): 4:47pm On Feb 02, 2015 |
barcanista: Two days after Muhammadu Buhari Campaign spokesman announced the boycott of the amiable General from the PDP sponsored NEDG Presidential Debate, ChannelsTV in partnership with ARISETV and Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria announced their proposed Presidential debate between the Amiable General Muhammadu Buhari and His Excellency President Ebelemi Jonathan. Fans and supporters of the General including yours faithfully jubilated and really looked forward to the clash of the political titans. We were happy because unlike the NEDG composition where all the members have ties with the PDP and the Presidency, that of the ChannelsTV/NPAN/AriseTV carries a toga of fairness and neutrality. It came as a shock when I read the news of withdrawal by the APC strategist Mr. Dele Alake
Channels Television owned by Chief John Momoh is one of the only few unbiased broadcast station. John Momoh has dinstinguished himself as a professional Journalist right from his days in Radio Nigeria and Nigeria Television Authority. He has never held any appointment for any party neither is he known to fraternise with any political party. If any Television Station enjoy respect from among their pairs for their stand on neutrality, that station is Channels TV.
AriseTV is an international broadcast station with broadcast houses in London, Lagos, New York and Johannesburg. I am yet to see their frolicking with any Nigeria politician or government official. They are unbiased in their reportage.
NPAN is an association of all the print media owners. In other words, both the neutral, biased, political and non-political are members of this Association.
Considering the composition of the debate coordinators, one cannot help but agree that the unbias of the organisers is not in doubt. The APC should allow the amiable General to go head to head with the President, and allow Nigerians the chance to assess both candidates. Personally, I believe in the ability and administrative skills of the amiable General, I also believe in him to take on the President and floor him in the debate. This will not be the first time that the General will partiicipate in a political debate, he debated in 2007 and 2011 and was very impressive. His accent is not a problem to me as long as he passes the right message. APC should allow the General participate and stop making it look like the General is afraid of debate. The excuse of Dele Alake is unacceptable and illogical. I hope that the party will reconsider their position.
God bless the General God Bless Nigerians In the very obvious event that your general fails to debate with GEJ, will you join forces with the winning party, the PDP? |
