Onegai: The thinking behind "Na me train am, na me own am!" is again, Poverty mentality.
Because do you think Otedola is depending on his Son-in-law for upkeep money? If his child is being maltreated, he will quietly remove her from the marriage.
My mother doesn't enter my brother's house more than 3 times in a year and she contributed largely to him buying it, way before he married. No matter how much his wife gets on her nerves, she won't go there to say "my money bought this home".
My aunt's son just got married, they bought and fully furnished a home in Ikoyi for the couple. When they want to see their grandkid, they invite the couple to come visit.
But when you scraped and made your child your meal ticket, then yes, you'll declare you own them and nobody has any rights over them.
Poverty mentality. And poverty mentality can affect anyone, even the wife of a rich man. As long as she grew up poor and continued in her mentality, she'll always be like that. She'll help her son get a job and then demand he spends all his money on her, "na me own you!". Until her son jams a crazy girl with poverty mentality and then the 2 women fight it out. It is not poverty mentality but low self esteem. Low self esteem masquerade as poverty mentality. Why do nigerian politicians keep on stealing even though they have billions in their account? Low self esteem. Otedola will train his son in law to take over his biz as his daughters do not have interest in biz and his son is autistic. Besides, his son inlaw is not poor. Wonder why people look down on that guy. Maybe cos he does not make noise. Low self esteem makes parents irrespective of backgrounds to Control the lives of their kids especially sons and make the wife a second fiddle in her home. For parents that do not do that, they do not suffer from low self esteem and are contented being parents to their kids and succour. |

BItt: Struggle to push your kids to good schools. Its part of parenting sacrifice. Later in life, the kids will leverage on connections they were able to make in schools.
Some connections can't be made in certain schools. A lot of connections can be made outside school. So many went to these so called good schools, how far. Where are they today? Unless you do not notice an opportunity when its before you, even a stranger in a bus ride might open doors for you. No be those people who went to the so called good schools I dey see here doing masters and trying to blend in with the realities life is dealing with them. The best education your child need is confidence, competitive spirit and dedication. Without them, if you like take that child to Cambridge, someone who went to a lesser university might still make it more than him or even employ him |

Esthered: You've said it all. Some parents claim they're making the sacrifice to give their children the best. At the end of the day, too much pressure to start taking care of them from mid life when they can still work and make ends meet as parents assume its the duty of their kids to take care of them as they age. That son marry, the mum will swear he will never enjoy his marriage because she sold her left bweest to train him so he owe her his existence. Did he tell her to give birth to him? No answer to that. Wack mentality. Their audacity is what baffles me. You enter your son's home and become home owner, dictating that everybody should bow to you. |

seborrhic: So which poison will someone put in a food that will wipe out an entire family without the person being seen? Sometimes some of you people refuse to use a part, not even all of your God given common sense! Ask yourself, when did the person sneak in to put poison in the food the entire family ate? Or are you, like that fake pastor,a type that would believe it was a poison inserted by a ghost or spirit? Have you ever seen what an improperly processed cassava can do to an individual when eaten? Have you ever seen where someone ate an improperly cooked meal and the person comes down with so much pain, throwing up that it's as if the entire stomach wants to burst out from the body. The useless talk by the fake and obviously poorly educated pastor that he saw the nurse inserting something into the mouth or nose of one of the family members after removing the oxygen was simply probably cotton wool after the mother had already died, reason why the nurse had to disconnect the oxygen. Don't even be surprised the fake pastor came up with all these fairy tales to avoid settling the Hospital bill. There are many chemicals that can be added into food that can kill within 24 hours. There are potential herbs in the bush growing around you and I that a drop of it is what you need to clear a family. As for the hospital, oxygen deprivation killed the remaining. I suffer from intense food poisoning a lot. I dont patronise any restaurant or buka I see but in such cases, imodium does the magic. When you have food poisoning, your system want to eliminate it thus frequent diarrhea. The bacteria, parasie whatever depending on the type rapidly multiply in the stomach. Thats why its always advised to let 24 hours pass before you can start med on food poisononing. After 24 hours, take medication that will stop rapid absorption of water in your colon and thats it most time. That was more than food poisoning. Nigeria do not do good autopsy else what killed them will be unveiled in no time. |

Acidosis: We can't really blame some parents. Some decisions we make early in life have long-lasting, if not eternal, impacts. There are certain schools you attend, and you just know that it will take only luck or the grace of God for one to rise above a certain level. The world is so competitive now.
Just last week on X, I saw some Nigerians regretting that they didn’t study Engineering in Unilag. Who wouldn’t? You just have to see the number of graduates getting jobs in top global companies like Bloomberg, Google, etc., straight after school. The same goes for their medical students. Their level of networking is just something else. While other people are hustling for NYSC, those ones have already completed their online interviews with Bloomberg, US medical schools, etc. I've read the same pattern with CU students.
Same education as someone who studied the same course in e.g., faraway Taraba State, but the networking, friendship? That’s what makes the difference.
As long as they’re not doing it blindly or getting into needless debt or blind competition, omo, we can’t really blame them. Many adults today developed low self-esteem because of their poor background. By poor, it doesn’t necessarily mean lack of money, but poor exposure and mentality. Acid, low self esteem has been part of Nigeria since colonization. It was systematically put in place to checkmate through religion and religious dogmas. We are still struggling and fighting for self realisation and actualization Religion did what Internet is doing now but religion used force, war and intimidation, Internet is doing that but making you believe you own your mind and decisions, what religion never did. Almost all colonial masters are now atheist countries. Eg British. People do not know but Britain is no longer a Christian country. Islam saw the opportunity and viam |

seborrhic: This pastor is not a good pastor. Nobody put poison in their food. Rather they died of food poisoning caused by germs from improperly cooked or contaminated food. They are unlucky, that it was a deadly form of bacteria that contaminated their food and their inability to access a good healthcare facility where their lives COULD have been saved with prompt and appropriate care. A pastor should be educated,so that he doesn't spread false information, thus "poisoning the minds" of family against one another or community suspicions leading to strife and even further loss of innocent lives. Food poisoning hardly kill. It can be fatal but even in a country like Nigeria, its never a danger. Let the police, the nursing council of Nigeria ( obviously, that nurse should lose her pin and be jailed) and the judge handle the case, not you who know nothing about the case except what you read here. |

When surgery is long, doctors can go on short break like he did. As long as the situation is stable. There is always another surgeon on standby. Sometimes such breaks are needed. Even nurses too. Surgery dept is crazy. The annoying thing is when patients are OK, they hardly appreciate these medical personnels especially in countries like Nigeria. They believe that once they have paid the bill, thats it. If only they know. Little appreciation and thank you is what they just needed. People do not know what these little appreciation like buying thank you card or flowers do. They will rather go to church and give one man in his house glory. Even buying gifts and making donations. Make that donation in any hospital of choice. Somebody may need surgery but no money. That is what God appreciate. Or help pay a medical student school fees. |

DMerciful: You're right but this is a slow deliberate process that will take a generation even though its the sustainable thing to do.
But there has to be other ways like stick and carrot approach. Provide the facilities and enforce the punishment equitably without partiality Thinks like this takes lots of times. Learn patience. Nigerians always want quick actions and results. See where we are today. Desensitisation from colonial mentality that's till controls our thoughts and actions will start from the root. It took the west years of experimental trials and errors to use religion to colonise our minds. Eg, systematically calling and painting Satan as the BLACK while angels are WHITE. Now,the west call themselves white while Africans are black. Connect the dots. You are always under the mercy of the white as the angels are seen as saviour while the devil which is black is always of no good. Hey,do not argue this. This is documented and well researched topic in a discipline in the west. As early as the time religion was used to politically conquer people, they experimented in the lab, used people and perfected their acts and the result is what you see. You are made to disbelieve it. That's the highest form of mind control. ( check the Internet, you will be shocked. I read textbooks and was also shocked) You see why I said start from the family and it takes lots of years. You educate the mind and what you put there will germinate. Adult minds have finished growing. You can only implant new ideologies on kids, they will nurture and grow it You have no biz with development if you are not the patience type. |

Nnamdipapa: Its a temporary fuel source which leads to crash and burns making you crave for more food. Its not the natural energy source for the body reason I now have more sustainable energy since I started ditching carbs. If you stay for a long time without eating carb( good carb), your body will convert the protein in your system into carb. Your body functions with glucose. Rather, you should source carbs with low glycemic index and lots of fibre. As you continue to subject your body to that, the consequences will start manifesting. Also, bear in mind that as you age, your body need less animal protein cos it is more complex to break down. You can look at the eating culture of okinawa people in Japan. They are among few of those who have lots of elders above hundred years. Lifestyle change is often what people need. Also, western diets and what they made us believe in might not be entirely true. Looking at your plate, you still eat large portion. When one is on one meal a day, you do not add 3 portion in one plate. That is cheating and its psychological especially for us who enjoy large portion per meal. |

Food › Re: My Carnivore Diet Journey Day 7 by descarado: 8:20am On Sep 11, 2025 |
epainos: This is it. Yeah! Let me make comments.
1. Carnivore Diet - Based on my observations, it is difficult to maintain for an extended period of time. Your body will signal you to stop and add more fibers. Some people are incapable of doing it even for a single day. Why? Constipation. OP's gut is healthy, and it is a big advantage for him. C
2. Carnivore Diet - If you can tolerate it, I believe it is a great way to jumpstart the benefits of eliminating artificial sugar. At first, I notice that eliminating a lot of sugary foods (natural or artificial) is beneficial. It is also extremely effective at fighting stubborn infections. In my opinion, it is should be used for one month without modifying it. And as you can see, OP's body told him to start adding fibers after 1 mth. In fact, some people will curse whoever gives them such after only three days because they will be unable to pass anything below. They will have to treat constipation. But mehh! I envy anyone who can go on a one-month plan because the benefits are incredible.
3. Carnivore Diet vs. Keto: Why can not we process it like our forefathers? You hear that your kidney will fail and bla bla bla. Na alcohol you day take for you kidney to fail? Lol. Mehn! The body switches to using protein as a source of energy, which is easier than Keto. Keto requires the body to use fat as an energy source, which can be difficult for many people to adjust to quickly. The kind of headache many have from Keto, they can't cope. Lol. So, back to my original question here, we have messed up out gut such that we can't easily process loads of meat and protein like our fore fathers. So, be cautious with Keto, Carnivore, or other diets. Go in gradually to see how your body can handle it. OP is just super lucky that his gut can process meat well. Mehn! I envy him. He is bouncing out of whatever health challenge he has got very fast.
4. OP's transition to Keto - Excellent. Great. However, in real Keto, protein is cut down so that energy can be derived from fat only. But OP is still loading protein which I am not against. If this works for him, why not? Let him just keep listening to his body and I love the way he checks himself medically. That's the way to go. Kidney functioning, and major organs can be checked. The good news is that he is coming to Nigeria. The OP should take advantage of cheap body functioning diagnostic tests available in Nigeria. Check "MECURE". There is one in Oshodi, Lagos, Abuja, Ibadan, and some other places in Nigeria. You can go for their top packages which include even MRI, CT scan of brain, guts, etc. Lipid profile is included, kidney, liver, heart, etc functioning are included. Extremely cheap in Nigeria compared to doing them in the UK or the US. My family members always do them whenever they come to Nigeria. Those in the UK can't even have all the tests cos NHS won't cover all. Lol. So, whenever they are in Naija, they do it like every 2 years. Some even, yearly. Note: don't do individual tests or you will pay so high, but ask for their health plans packages. There are Platinum, gold, silver, bronze, etc. Pick any out of this. Also, there are packages for sexual transmitted diseases only, before you say yes to marriage tests, etc. Check very well what fits your need.
Sourcing good quality meat in Nigeria is hard. I don't want to discourage you, but research issues with Fulani meat. Also, research chemical produced meat. Fulani meat has its issues, and then, non Fulani pumps their livestock with chemicals. No control or check in Naija ooo.
Grains - Check online and you will see that our beans have been banned in EU since 2013 because of high pesticide residue. Na so. This is how all our grains are ooo. "Farmers do their own damages, and damages are finished by warehouse manager" who loads them with chemicals to stop rodents from destroying them. Very bad grains, but we dey chop am like that.
Fruits & Veggies - please, just forget this. Farmers don't wait for fruits to ripen in Naija anymore, so they always use chemicals. Plantain, Banana, avocado (I think this to, pineapple, mango, orange, lime, lemon, etc. Research online ooo and dont take my words here for it. Many fruits. All veggies are bombarded with chemicals oooo. Just warning you ahead. Those foreign fruits like apple, pears, plums, etc are bombarded with preservatives oooo. And local greens like Ugu, yoruba leaves, ibo leaves, south south leaves, hausa leaves (except those from shrubs and trees) are mostly bombarded with strong chemicals. These are the things that destroy gut in Nigeria, and perhaps since you aren't consuming them, you have a good gut. Well, many are still eating them, and issues have not yet come out of their bodies. So, I understand many will argue that we have natural good here in Naija. Lol. The truth is that you.get better food abroad. I don't subscribe to we have better food here again. Dem don scatter and damage everything because of greediness here. They harvest fruits greens and use chemicals to ripen them. Also, they always use strong chemicals to preserve good to make more money.
If you want to survive Nigeria and continue your lifestyle in good health, you will need to set up your garden. It is even good for you since you are doing more of carnivore now. You will set up a mini poultry for yourself to start and then add others later. You will not give your birds commercial feed if you want to do a perfect job to your health. I can give you more tips later. Please, don't consume Nigerian eggs with the way you are loading now. You will definitely injure something in your body or the process will start after 6 months consumption. Even 1 mth is enough to start changing your gut. You can easily produce 4 to 10 or more healthy eggs daily. Also, you can easily produce rabbit meat and chicken too. Then, you can source your goats from villages if you know how to. And add beef sparingly to your meal. If you can eat rabbits, then, chicken and rabbits will go a long way to help you. I don't buy frozen fish ooo. Never. The worst food anyone can buy in Nigeria is frozen food. Ha! I can bet that they have refrozen then for at least 5 times. You know what this means. If you don't, research it. Inlove in Lagos and I go to fishermen to get my fish. Though, they have made it extremely expensive now because rich people patronise them these days. Still better than eating frozen fish.
For the rest, you can still cope and wash the little veggie you buy with natural washers (not just water or soap plus water) to remove contact pesticides. But they will still have residues inside higher than what you eat where you are coming from. But still OK. Except, you want to step it up further and start growing them too in Nigeria.
It will do you well to learn gardening, home poultry management without odor, rabbits management at home without odor, and maybe opening like 6 plots to 15 plots in new developing areas near you to raise goats, cow, produce more veggies, etc.
Nigeria is harder to survive if you want to live a good life. Quality food aren't available anymore. I am a farmer and it is why I can tell you the truth.
Good luck! Loads of information right here and shocking too. |
