Atiku's petition is being bloodied as I type.

How can you approach the Tribunal without clear cut evidence. The Tribunal Judge was so clear and pointed out the loopholes in their petition.

For instance, Atiku claimed his votes were reduced without citing exact number of votes that were reduced and the pooling booth it took place.
The tribunal said it was too generic and evasive and lacks substance.
It is actually the verdict on Peter Obi and LP's petition that is being read now not Atiku's.

Electric trains are powered in two different ways, overhead cables or the one called third rail.

The Lagos SG adopted the Third Rail option for its blue line rail. Power will be passed to the train through the third rail (those yellow rails in the picture). You can search for more information about how third rail system works on Google.

You guys know nothing about Islam but always want to tell Muslims how they should practice their faith. Nigerian Muslims have been naming their children Maryam (Maria) and Isah which is the Arabic form of Yeshua, before your ancestors where born. Jesus is a Latin form of same name (Yeshua).

Even today, in Latin languages such as Spanish and Portuguese, Jesus is pronounced as 'hesus' while it is also pronounced as 'yesu' or 'yesus' in other languages. It is Isah in Arabic just as Moses is Musa.

Islam recognises Jesus and his mother as servants of God, not god and mother of god. We adore them and we name our children after them (Salamullahi alaihima)

You can go on trolling Muslims as you like...it changes nothing, only makes your lives more useless.

Education / Re: Stop Sending Your Children For Holiday Lessons by DesignMaestro(m): 2:32pm On Aug 21, 2023
This makes a lot of sense, couldn't agree with you more. I've make this argument many times in the past.

We travel to enjoy our holidays with our grandparents during our own time and we still earn excellent grades in school.
Oduok:

Sending kids to holiday lessons makes no sense.

Most of you will make your kids go to school till they become useless. You took them to school at age 3 and abandon them there. During long vacation you still send them to school. To do what?

Can't you spend time to bond with your kids? What exactly are they going to achieve in school during vacation? Vacation lesson only favour school owners, not you. Allow kids rest for God's sake.

If you should engage kids during long vacation then teach them skills. Enrol your kids in centres that they can learn practical computer usage, coding, programming, painting and decoration, catering, musical instruments. Let them learn martial art, how to shot guns, how to wrestle. Teach them something beyond pure academics.

If a school should organize long vacation class then it should gear towards extra curricula activities - debate, modelling, music concert, science fair, mini project. How would you call kids back to school during holiday to learn Math, English, Chemistry, Social studies, accounting, by same teachers that taught them during school period. What is the difference? If these teachers knew what to teach why didn't they do it during normal school session.

Education is beyond memorizing facts. Give your kids opportunity to develop and be better prepare for life.

The Lagos Redline Rail Mass Transit project might be taking much time than expected for its completion and take off, but one thing that is certain is that the stations being built for the project are changing the landscape of Lagos.

With five stations already built along the Ebute Metta - Abeokuta rail corridor and a couple of flyovers that are built as part of the project, Lagos mainland is experiencing some infrastructural transformation.

The new stations are located in Oyingbo, Yaba, Mushin, Ikeja, Agege and Iju . Only railway platforms were built at Oshodi as terminal 3 of the Oshodi transport interchange will serve as train station for the Redline. A new station has also not been built at Agbado which is the terminating point of the Redline.

Tinubu appoints Special Investigator to probe CBN
The appointment is with immediate effect and Mr Obazee is to report directly to the President.
ByTemidayo Akinboyo July 30, 2023

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Jim Obazee as a Special Investigator to probe the activities of the Central Bank of Nigeria and other Related Entities.

In a letter dated 28 July, seen by PREMIUM TIMES, Mr Tinubu said the appointment of Mr Obazee, relying on the fundamental objective set forth in Section 15(5) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria(as amended), was in furtherance of his administration’s anti-corruption fight.

The appointment is with immediate effect and Mr Obazee is to report directly to the President.

According to the letter signed by the president, the full terms of Mr Obazee’s engagement as a special investigator will be communicated to him in due course.

Mr Obazee is a former chief executive officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN).

Specific directives
President Tinubu specifically directed Mr Obazee to take immediate steps to ensure the strengthening and probity of key Government Business Entities and block leakages in the CBN and related GBEs.

He also directed the special investigator to provide a comprehensive report on public wealth currently in the hands of corrupt individuals and establishments (whether private or public).

Also, the president directed Mr Obazee to investigate the CBN and related entities using a suitably experienced, competent and capable team and to work with relevant security and anti-corruption agencies to deliver on the assignment.

Mr Obazee is expected to brief the president weekly on the progress being made concerning the assignment.

In the letter, President Tinubu directed Mr Obazee’s attention to his directive to suspend the CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, on 9 June.
The suspended CBN boss was arrested in his Lagos home by operatives of the State Security Service (SSS) a day after his suspension by Mr Tinubu. He was then flown to Abuja.
The SSS is prosecuting him for possession of an unregistered firearm and the Federal High Court in Abuja granted him bail last week.

The SSS, shortly after the bail was granted, re-arrested him on the court premises leading to an altercation between some officers of the security service and that of the Nigerian Correctional Centre who attempted to whisk him away to their custody.

The secret service is yet to publicly state the reason Mr Emefiele is still being detained despite being granted bail by the court.

Details later…

Politics / Subsidy Removal: Kwara Gov Approves N10,000 For Workers, Multisectoral Palliativ by DesignMaestro(m): 4:46pm On Jul 24, 2023
Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved a multi-billion naira palliative package to cushion the effects of recent removal of fuel subsidy.

The new palliatives rolled out by the governor’s chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, at a news conference in Ilorin, the state capital on Monday, cut across different sectors and demographies of the state.

On top of the palliatives is a cash support of N10,000 for every public sector worker in the state, which will begin this month and last until a new minimum wage is introduced.

Ajakaye said the measure was to enable workers to cope with the economic shocks created by the subsidy removal.

Subsidy Removal: Kwara Gov Approves N10,000 For Workers, Multisectoral Palliatives
Written by Abdullahi Olesin 3 hours ago
Kwara

“In deference to the new advisory of the National Economic Council for states to design their own independent responses to the development, the Governor has directed the leadership of the civil service to continue a staggered work schedule — not exceeding three days a week — to reduce transportation expenses for workers,” he said.

He, however, clarified that the staggered work plan will not affect the ‘essential workers’ in the State.

Ajakaye added: “The governor has similarly approved the payment, from this month, July, of new hazard and skipping allowances, and 100% CONMESS for consultants and medical doctors under the government’s payroll. He also approved a new regime of allowances for nurses working for the state government. The whole essence is to check attrition rate in the health sector, and attract and retain medics and specialists to provide improved, qualitative healthcare services for the people of the state.

“The governor has also endorsed immediate cash-backing of 2019 and 2020 promotion for Teaching Service Commission workers. The administration had earlier cash-backed arrears of promotion for TESCOM for years 2015-2018.

“In the same vein, he has approved cash-backing for 2021 promotion exercise of teaching and non-teaching staff of SUBEB and restoration of steps to all of them. This is a policy response to the yearnings of SUBEB workers since 2016 when SUBEB workers no longer had steps.

“The governor also approved the extension of free bus rides for students of tertiary institutions in the state, while modalities for occasional distribution of food to poor and most vulnerable households are to be activated in the next few days.

“This shall be nonpartisan, and would be coordinated by a government team to be supported by respected stakeholders who would get inputs from traditional rulers, religious bodies, market leaders, trade unionists, and community based organisations to generate the lists of beneficiaries and disburse accordingly.

“The whole idea of these interventions, which gulp billions of naira of public funds, is to show empathy and deploy as much resources as the state can afford to support the people at this special time.

“The Governor has also approved for the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) to activate a N500m worth of conditional support for petty traders and MSMEs in the state.

“The state government will receive fertilisers and grains from the Federal Government and pay for same. It is not free. Modalities for the handling of these will be made available later. This is to boost farming outputs and food security in the state.

“The government, meanwhile, will be setting up a committee to interface with marketers on the need to curb extortionist tendencies as seen in arbitrary fixing of prices of food stuffs. This practice imposes hardship on everyone. The government will be willing to collaborate with the patriotic market leaders on how to tackle this challenge.

“Finally, the governor identifies with the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his strong commitments to sustainable economic reforms and well-being of the Nigerian people, believing that the current discomforts are just like the pains that precede the joyful birth of a child.”

Politics / How Tinubu’s Forex Policy Is Growing Remittance Into Nigeria by DesignMaestro(m): 11:06am On Jul 14, 2023
The forex reform of President Bola Tinubu is seen to be having a positive impact on inflow of remittance into the country.

The reform aims to address the challenges of foreign exchange by floating the Naira, allowing market forces to determine the exchange rate.

Many Nigerian big firms have since then launched and partnered initiatives that now allow Nigerians and Africans abroad to seamlessly bring and pay money back to the country.

According to a Twitter user identified as AItalkspace,” Remittances and international payments have kinda received a boost in Nigeria after the exchange rate changes from a few weeks ago. Flutterwave now supports international tuition payments in naira, Paga just announced international payouts in naira, and Access Bank just partnered with Remitly.”

Access Bank and Remitly

Access Bank’s partnership with Remitly, now allows customers to receive and deposit cash in Dollars in all access bank branches.

Remitly is an American online remittance service based in Seattle, United States that offers international money transfers to over 135 countries.

According to Access Bank, the transactions will be available to both account and non-account holders requiring only a valid ID for dollar pickups. The bank stated that an instant domiciliary account is opened up on receipt of remittance payment.

Tuition by Flutterwave

Tuition launched by Flutterwave now enables Nigerians and Africans studying overseas to pay their school fees in any part of the world seamlessly and in time using localised currencies and local payment methods.

” We are dedicated to bridging the gap between African students and inadequate banking infrastructures, fraud, high exchange rates, and many more.

“Pay local, study global,” Flutterwave stated

Paga

Paga has declared openly that it is available for businesses from any remittance company interested in local partnerships.

Tayo Oviosu, chief executive officer of Paga disclosed this on his official Twitter handle welcoming every interested partnership.

“Nigerians can now receive remittances in Naira.

“Paga is wide open for business for any remittance company looking for a local partner.

“Remittances can be delivered to any phone number or financial institution with great reliability,” Oviosu tweeted.

Meanwhile, many companies have also backed the president’s forex policy reform since it was signed, because of the ease of operation, BusinessDay has earlier reported.

Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman of Bharti Airtel Limited during his recent visit to Nigeria applauded the president for addressing the challenges of foreign exchange by floating the Naira, allowing market forces to determine the exchange rate.

He said the lack of easy access to forex has remained a difficult challenge for investors over the years.

“One of the key changes that his excellency has made in the first few days of his tenure has been making Naira free float unto the market, making the market decide,” Mittal said.

According to him, “One of the biggest problems for foreign investors in Nigeria for many years has been the lack of easy availability of forex, where foreign investors who have spent billions of dollars do not mind paying whatever the market rate is as the market must decide but to be prevented from importing critical infrastructure equipment from our partners like IBM and other software agencies, making it extremely difficult for a company like Airtel which must be the case with others as well.”

Other investors in the country have also cheered the federal government’s move to address forex challenges through the reform.

Business / Naira Windfall For Oil Firms As CBN Lifts Dollar Restrictions by DesignMaestro(m): 9:27pm On Jul 06, 2023
Lolade Akinmurele
Jul 6, 2023

International Oil Companies (IOCs) in Nigeria will get more naira for their dollar earnings after the Central Bank on Wednesday permitted the companies to resume dollar sales to banks in a move aimed at injecting dollar liquidity into the Investors & Exporters window.

The development means IOCs are no longer mandated to sell their dollars to the CBN at the artificially low price at which they sold prior to the naira float last month. That leaves them with more naira for their dollars as they will now be selling at a rate that’s over 60 percent weaker than the previous rate.

Allowing IOCs to sell dollars to banks will also help improve dollar liquidity in the I&E window, which is considered a crucial factor in luring foreign investors back to Nigeria.

“We expect this to inject additional liquidity into the Investors & Exporters window and help address the existing backlog of US dollar demand in the market,” a source familiar with the matter said.

“For the IOCs, they must be heaving a huge sigh of relief knowing they can now get more naira for their dollar earnings,” an oil and gas industry source said.

“For the IOCs, they must be heaving a huge sigh of relief knowing they can now get more naira for their dollar earnings,” an oil and gas industry source said.

The CBN’s acting governor, Folashodun Shonubi, has been reversing the policies of suspended Governor Godwin Emefiele since he was handed the job by President Bola Tinubu who only took the helm of affairs in Nigeria in late May but has started making moves to deliver the thorough house cleaning of monetary policy he promised.

Since floating the naira and ending years of a hard currency peg that drained dollars from the economy and spooked investors, the CBN is now focusing on boosting dollar supply to help ease the pressure on the naira which lost over 60 percent of its value in one fell swoop following the long overdue reform.

The naira gained 1.2 percent at the I&E window, Wednesday. Total foreign exchange turnover was up 20 percent to $89.37 million from $73.86 million worth of trades, according to data from FMDQ.

the I&E window, Wednesday. Total foreign exchange turnover was up 20 percent to $89.37 million from $73.86 million worth of trades, according to data from FMDQ.

Emefiele had mandated the IOCs to only sell dollars to the CBN in the thick of a dollar crunch in 2020. The IOCs were forced to sell the dollars at an artificially propped official rate that was more than 50 percent stronger than the more market-reflective parallel market rate.

It was one of the curious moves made by Emefiele which though was intended to keep dollars flowing, ended up draining the market of the greenback and knocking investor confidence.

“It will take a lot of undoing the harmful policies of the Emefiele-led CBN to get Nigeria back on track and this is one of many,” a foreign fund manager said.

“The 43 blacklisted items is another grey area that is undermining confidence in the CBN’s new currency reform,” the fund manager who used to invest in Nigerian equities and bonds before he exited in 2020 said.

That's where you guys are getting it wrong and I'm sure you are going to be disappointed by the time the tribunal trash the case as it has happened before.

Forfeiture is a punishment, yes. No one is denying that. But, has there been any concrete evidence to dispute Tinubu's version of the story that said he was only a third party and not among those who were convicted of the crime?

Is there any concrete evidence to prove that he was actually charged to court for committing a narcotic drugs related offence?

Is there any evidence to prove that he lied about his claim that payments totaling 460k USD were traced to his bank accounts and it was only the said amount that was forfeited out of the money he had in the accounts?

Is there any evidence to prove that the said forfeiture case was criminal and not civic?

As I have said before, any claim that he was involved in drug deals remains a conjecture so far non of his adversaries was able to provide concrete evidence that he was tried in a court of law for such criminal offence aside the fact that he forfeited 460k USD which he said was not directly his, but payment made to his account by people who were found to be involved in narcotic drugs deals (No one has been able to deny this claim with concrete evidence)

Obifools are allover the thread celebrating already. It is this your gragra nature that always end in humiliation for you guys.

Bamidele didn't say anything different from what had been said before as far as the forfeiture case is concerned.

Neither Tinubu nor any of his associates has ever before denied that the forfeiture was for drug related case. The point is he was never convicted for drug or any criminal offence in the USA. The forfeited money was traced to some third party who were convicted of drug trafficking offences. Whether he was directly or indirectly involved in drug trafficking is nothing but mere conjecture since no single evidence to prove that he was charged to court or convicted of drug related offence.

So, don't be too excited about this, because:
1. He was never convicted by a US court

2. The incident happened some thirty years ago (the constitution says not more than ten years)

3. He was never found guilty of any criminal offence by any Nigerian court and has no forfeiture case in Nigeria.
