You must think we all attended the same school of buffoonery. Shior! Chidiokereke: Despite his seemingly austere disposition, a presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, donated N1 million to the delegates of the party from Imo State to vote him during its December 10 national convention. Mr. Buhari, a former head of state, met with the delegates at the Regent Hotels, Owerri, during which he lobbied them to vote for him. He also visited the Imo State House of Assembly to lobby the APC members of the legislature who are statutory delegates to the convention. The presidential hopeful was accompanied by the Director General of his Campaign Organisation, Audu Ogbeh; a former President of Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Rotimi Akeredolu; and a former member of the House of Representatives, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba.
Hehehe! So the most incorrupt Nigerian gave bribes to delegates in Imo state yesterday. Wow. I'm so shocked. Read the full story here:

For this my president, I go do Aristo o. See fineness! He's even better looking than Obama not to talk of that bloodshot eyed nincompoop currently residing in ASO RoCk. You know that misfit who always look like a lost puppy in the midst of world leaders and speaks like a six year old who's just learning the alphabets. The one who wears fedora hat everywhere reminding the world that Nigeria was colonised and that his people did not have a culture before the whiteman set foot in their jungle. The only Nigerian president(buffoon) without a traditional name but one bestowed on his clan by the slave masters.
This handsome man on the other hand has panache. Very disarming yet tough and with integrity in abundance.

This is really terrible and portend grave danger for our budding democracy !! Since when did it become the duty of the police chief to interpret the constitution
The damage Jonathan's style of politics/leadership has injected into our national life would take years to undo!!

Gone are the days when I used to take the jokers seriously. Constructive criticism is okay but such should make sense and be directly pertinent. This development is laudable as it means Lagos is on course to becoming virtually independent and self-financing. This would be a dream fiscal scenario for any Nigerian State because federal allocation can effectively be utilised for capital projects since the State can finance itself. |

pendy79: Walk into a bank and see how personal income tax is calculated. Tax from biz like that goes to customs and FIRS as it is the Importers who pays to bring in those parts. This tax goes to the federal government accounts not the states. Ladipo traders may likely pay tax to the local government their shop tax and radio/tv license etc that they pay to the council. How of those in ladipo do a tax return? How many pay their staff through the banks that the state take PAYE from? Most things in the market goes to the local government account as their own IGR. The state only demand a lumpsum from their market leaders for land usage and environmental charges and not tax per se.
What tax does a tomato seller in mile 12 pays into the state as personal tax? What is the difference between the 2? Such market are not regulated and can't be assessed for taxation like a salary earner or a corporate entity.
That's the difference. Brilliant! Now this is called critical analysis. |

Curlieweed: I find the Janjaweedian Apeeshit apologists to be unusually bereft of simple common sense ( I am not even talking about complicated things like Economics here). Are they pretending to be daft or do they think that the electorate is daft? Now, I would have thought that after the shellacking in Ekiti and narrow escape in Osun, our friends will have realized the futility of their tactics.
I am utterly gob smacked that anyone will think that taxing the populace more ruthlessly (while giving your party chief a huge cut of the said tax) is the ultimate measure of good governance. What happened to measures like school enrolment, performance in standardized tests, access to clean water and sewage facilities, affordable housing, primary health facilities amongst others? It's not how much you can steal from the impoverished masses as IGR that should count but what you actually achieve with the funds.
Put simply, the government doesn't create any money or wealth by taxing me more. It is therefore very interesting that Lagos and other Apeeshit states are also the most indebted in the country. Talk about the classic "tax and spend" socialists. It's even more ironic that states like Anambra under Peter "Nkume" Obi, despite having lower IGR were able to save more and even lend to some of our "high performing" Apeeshit "wunderkinds". |
