Not yet but they said by the end of February, now this is 1st of March

I received a message yesterday that they currently don't have any Faculty member accepting additional advisees for fall 2024. They asked if I would want my application recoded (not recorded) for spring, 2025 and that they look forward to hearing from me.

As at January 15th and Feb 15th this year, I contacted my department and they confirmed they were still reviewing the applications.

Does this mean my application has been considered, but I'll need to wait till spring, 2025. I honestly don't understand this please.

Anybody with similar experience should please share!

The email came in as "Application Status"

Perhaps, you're checking Abuja Embassy. I'm not sure Lagos Embassy has this long waiting period. Cheers!

@everyone,

Please if you've written the CELPIP test, kindly tell us how much you paid and what bank card you used. Alot of people are facing difficulties making this payment. I don't want to believe the amount quoted in naira on their website, so please if you've written the test, tell us:
1. How much you paid
2. What bank card you used
3. Perhaps the dollar equivalence of the #76,000 quoted on their website.

NB: Please don't tell us to use a "dorm card". Tell us the dorm card you used exactly that worked for you and don't tell us you can make the payment for us.

I have honestly gone to read up after I read your initial write-up. I really understand the whole process now, save one; I can see that the "final action date" is backlogged for about 14 months. I want to believe that the final action date is always set by the US government based on the number of green cards available per year, is this correct please?

Again, I've a fall admission for a PhD program in the US. I recently applied for F1 Visa. I was going to file EB-2 NIW application (I've 25 publications and about 78 citations) using premium service before the admission offer came through. But I fear that it may affect my F1 Visa interview if I go ahead to file 1-140 form now. What do you suggest please?

I am not sure how best to explain this to you but I’ll try.

Visa number availability for EB visas relates to Greencard availability.
Every Fiscal year, congress makes 140,000 greencards available under all of the Employment-based visa categories i.e., EB1 to EB5.

The summary of it is that right now, the number of applicants is significantly more than the number of greencards available. So, USCIS has devised a means to put everyone in line and wait for your turn (this is what priority date comes in).

Hope this was helpful. You can watch videos online to get a better understanding of this. I’ll see if I can put some links here to help you understand.

I was thinking F1 students can concurrently file since a visa number is immediately availability for them.

You cannot concurrently file for EB2NIW right now because priority date is not current for any country. You can only submit the I-140 application, then wait for when your date of filing becomes current on the visa bulletin, then you can submit the I-485 application.

However, if you qualify for EB1, priority date is still current for all countries (apart from China and India), you can concurrently file for that.

If you opt-in for concurrent filling, are they going to wait for PD to become current before they begin to work on your file? Or you'll jump the queue?

Aside GTBank, where else you can pay your F1 visa application is : Guarantee Trust Bank .

1. If you cannot find a nearby GT in your area or working place take UBER or cab or board public buses and find any other GTB.

2. You can ask friends or family to even help you to pay via GTB app. Its not compulsory you walk into a bank . I would rather you do the Walk -ins to any GTB.

I am in France on a student visa currently. I have secured admission to a school in the USA and I have a sponsor as well. My school in the US resumes late 2024 but I would like to apply for my visa in January or February 2024.

The process to apply outside nigeria is quite different and complex which brings me to my question; who has a working and comprehensive guide on how a Nigerian student in France can apply for USA study visa.

I have used YouTube and google but I’m here for more insight so any kind of experience and information related to my case is welcome.

You can only apply for F1 visa 120 days before the commencement of classes in United States. Hence, your school will be resuming late 2024, I'm not sure you can apply for F1 Visa in the month of January/ February.

Correct me if I'm wrong please......

You meant you got the account statement from the bank last month?

I'll advise remarking your writing. It'll most likely come back higher and that should improve your score. Also, MOD and BC recently introduced single skill rewrite, so you can rewrite listening alone and fully max out your points. All the best.

IRCC don't accept one skill rewrite for express entry. Cheers!

I started the process March, submitted in June and got approval in October. My main challenge was getting recommenders which took 2 months.

For the amount; I paid 5000 USD and 700 USD for filling. This amount is what I paid. It maybe different or the same.

Thank you for your response. Did you do WES evaluation of your credentials for Equivalency? If yes, is it CxC or DxD?

I read on their website (Chen) that they'll write the letters of recommendation for you; did they actually keep to that promise? How many letters did you submit?

You can use Chen. They usually work best for people with articles and reasonable citations. I used Chen and got approval in 101 days without RFE. Remember, approval is case dependent.

I have a question please;

SINP requires that Course of study match with Job title. Now, for Agricultural service contractors and farm supervisors, IRCC specified a BSc in Agriculture or Animal science.

If one has a BSc in Zoology and MSc. and PhD in Environmental Management and Protection, will SINP reject such application on the ground of "degree doesn't match with Job title"? Since only the highest degree will be evaluated by WES? Or does one still qualifies for SINP nomination on the basis of first degree?

Note: The MSc. and PhD were earned from a Federal University of Agriculture.
