Congrats! Please what proof of English were you required to provide in your offer letter?
I'm considering the school (UWL) alongside UEL for September intake.

caleb00:

Did you apply to university of west london? I just got my offer

shocked shocked shocked

Nelian:
Please don't go to Teesside. They will collect your money without allocating CAS to you. Then tell you to wait after three months or more before you will get your fund back or their finance team will not even respond to you at all after payment.
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 5 by Detreasure: 10:27pm On Jan 17, 2021
Check Sheffield Hallam University
Edinburgh Napier University
University of Sunderland
Roehampton University

There are some others

In all you need work experience.

The answer is NO! NO!! NOO!!!
If they they proceed with the application, they surely will be denied.
Option 1: Better to add the money and wait for another 28days.
Option 2: Pay additional tuition fee, but will need to get another CAS.
Remember, both options will require reprinting of account statement.
Better to be safe than sorry.

Lawke:
Hello, please nairaland people my cousin and her husband wants to apply for visa today.. she is the main applicant and her husband and 2 kids are depandants. After running the proof of funds for 28days, they printed the statement of account. They said it is valid for 30days. Her CAS came out yesterday, it was late because of festive season and they want to apply tomorrow. The problem is the amount in the account is short off a few millions, can they still use it like that since they printed the statement already. And also the statement 30days validity after printing will expire in 4days cos they printed the statement middle of December after the 28days. My question is can they still use the statement even if it’s short a few millions of the required funds. Please note they already kept the complete funds for 28days.

All Schools and Colleges will now move to remote class.

I want to believe you are trying to get yourself sorted during the 10 days quarantine period in UK. If yes, then I will not see anything bad in carrying some of the stuffs mentioned especially if you have nobody in UK to stay with.
But be careful with some hyperactive immigration officer at our airport who might want to obtain you.

Aderin0la:
Hello all,

Please, this is a list of some things I intend carrying with me when traveling, but I’m not sure if all these are allowed or not. Kindly let me know which ones should not be included. (PS: I’m only taking small / a reasonable amount of each)

Garri
Groundnut
Indomie (onion flavor)
Maggi/Knorr (not the chicken flavor)
Dettol disinfectant
Basic meds like cough syrup, panadol, antibiotics and the likes.
Spices (e.g ground red/black pepper, pepper soup spice, etc)
Sardines
Deodorants/perfumes - I heard one is supposed to be in your hand luggage; not sure which.

A new dawn has just begun. Thanks to all great contributors and moderators of this special thread. I've been an active-silent reader and observer of this thread in the last few months and have been patiently waiting for this part 5. I am planning for next year September MSc intake and looking forward to a smooth sailing with the wealth of knowledge this thread has to offer. The intending schools are UEA or University of Essex.

Update February 6th, 2021
Decision changed to schools in London. Currently under considerations are, UWL, UEL and UWS (London Campus).

If you choose by correspondence, then no need choosing the Scotland option again since your husband was not physically present there.
Nigeria is the country where activity took place through correspondence with the school in Scotland.

MamaIce:
No, but in the activity section, when we filled the MSC, we selected country where activity took place as Scotland, I noticed that if the country activity took place is changed to Nigeria, then the request for Scotland police clearance is removed. So, we are caught between which country to indicate as the country activity took place, considering that the university is in Scotland but the study was done in Nigeria via correspondence

Yes start please as suggested by @Mamaroon. Time fly easily, I think I know your reason for wanting it before Dec. (IELTS expiry right?)
Create EE profile and stay in the pool if possibly you will receive ITA or try PNP route as suggested. One thing is certain, with French as second language, you've reinforced yourself again uncommon odds.
Wish you the best in your decision.

Dinma27:
Omo! I have zero knowledge in French. I have been looking for shortcuts to write this exam pass well well but they are all telling me 8 months at least. Kai! I just I can do everything on or before December

Merci tres bien. vous est genial.

DanMisla:

Hi...best wishes on this journey. While its true the dependant spouse gets no additional CRS points for being bilingual, I think being comfortable with both English and French would increase your attractiveness to potential employers.
So, keep at it! Meilleurs voeux.

Question 5: to qualify for "2 or more certificates", one of them should have involved studies of at least three years...like a Bachelors degree.
If your HND does...you should be good. Unfortunately, you might not know for sure until you have the certificates assessed.

Wow really great and inspiring! First, let me congratulate you on your IELTS success.
We are really encouraged by your experience and are ready to hit the ground running.
As for listening to French channels, we will have no problem because we have access to FTA French stations and movies.
What is the requirement for joining the Duolingo meet-up group?
We have enough internet data for any amount of downloads or internet use as well.
Thank you for your input and wish you all the best in this journey.
Please if you or anyone in the building can still answer remaining part of my questions, it will be greatly appreciated.

I'm in the same situation. I maxed out my ielts score( LWSR 8.5,7.5,8,9) and having noticed that crs draws have been on 450 for some time, I started learning french from scratch since 1st April. I got a private tutor (not cheap, but I am determined). We hold 3 classes per week (Monday 1hr, Tuesday 2hrs, Thursday 2hrs). Most times, he exceeds the hours. I do a lot of learning on my own too. I watch easy French, rfi, tv5monde, watch French in action videos, all on youtube. I also downloaded some TEF materials from this thread. I had to read this thread from the beginning and I've been following quietly for some time.

Now, I can read to an extent. Listening is still an issue, a big one. I think French people talk too fast. But I still practise listening daily even though I can only pick a few words. My teacher encourages me to listen all the same. I listen while driving, cooking and whenever I have some spare time. I've started practising speaking too. We hold 20minutes french conversation (he talks, i just listen) at the beginning of each class. He talks about world politics, the society etc. After conversation, we do grammar. Last week, he introduced role play after grammar lesson (e.g buying stuffs from shops, asking and giving directions, just simple everyday stuff).

I also joined Duolingo, a French meet up club in Lagos. We watched a movie last month (Les tontons flinguers). Another meeting is coming up this weekend and they would be discussing "les couleurs" and " Les vetements".

I am still learning and simply enjoying myself while at it. I still have a lot to learn. For books, I got Bescherrelle for French verbs, French dictionary and few novels. I downloaded Schaum's outline on French grammar. Be ready to use a lot of internet data. For now, I do not "economise" on data.

My teacher says 8months is doable depending on how well I immerse myself. I'll join Alliance Francais TEF class before taking the exam. No date in mind yet as it's such a humbling journey.

Hello All Great TEFarians grin
I'm very glad to be here and will like to express a sincere appreciation to every contributor(s) on this thread. May we all achieve our individual heart desires.
Please myself and my spouse are intending to stat the EE process soon. After evaluating our scores using the CRS tools we discovered that we fall below the 450 points which is about the average points score according to the current trends in the draw. Hence, we discovered that if we try TEF exams and passed at 7 CLB on all 4 areas, we will be well above 470 points which is more than enough to receive ITA as of now.
My spouse will be our PA because of my age, but She will start from scratch as to French language.
Questions:
1. Is 8 months reasonably possible to learn, write and pass the TEF exams with a 7 CLB?
2. I'm planning on writing the TEF too, does my own result also count? I asked because the CRS tools only requests for PA's second language.
3. Is there any learning group we can join immediately?
4. What resources (Video or Books) can you recommend for a complete beginner (Newbs/Rookie)?
5. Can I evaluate only my HND and BCS IT certificate as two or more certificate?
Thank you as you assist with your advice.

Note: We are planning to ace IELTS as well.
