Kamnelly: U knw we shld really try to understand somethings before we jump into them.
I talked about cheques and someone said he/she wasn't carried along then i came down to step 1 in banking and tried my best to explain it. Obassey wat u said ws right but concluding i ws showing off wasn't fair.we are all here to help each other.
Probably at d TS they wld expect us to understand very fast because they believe they selected d best. Am a banking and Finance student and i thought it wise to share my little knowledge but thou it ws misunderstood but i hope u people knw dat in as much as we wish to all be called, am nt even sure i will be there, that not withstanding i just wanted to enlighten the house and it ws misunderstood. But i think its best if we obey obassey's decision and nt show of. Always Love u all

obassey: I really appreciate the enthusiasm expressed on this thread, but this feels without trying to sound rude a little show-offish in my opinion. I mean,it is a graduate trainee position we all applied for so y r u trying to lecture us. I sincerely don't see the point. It is ok to update us on the success or recent happenings in Heritage bank but to come here and start talking about clearing officer and e payment is totally unnecessary. i dont mean to rain on ur parade, except u have a good reason why u r doing it or there are potential customers on this thread i suggest u stop now please and stop making the rest of us with no bank experience feel bad.All we need to know about banking will be covered during TS.
Oh sorry man,I guess I startd all this...I only did it in d interest f all and sundry...chek ma oda posts on dis thread, neva showd off,aii.....just did dis to show my enthusiasm bou workin wiff HB, I op d apology. S accepted....issorait...I rest my case...

The Area of I'm so specialised in and am so in love wiff is The E-Banking Aspect of Banking...

Here we Have The PayDirect Platform.E-Transact,Pay4me, etc etc...There's also 1 my Banks Calls U.I.P..

U.I.P is a platform where Funds are Transferred electronically btw Banks...for Instance Kamnelly is a walk-in Customer whu lives in Idanre,Ondo state and wants to deposit money in2 his account GTB in Akure,......Since dre;s no GTB in Idanre, he walks in2 my bank and the CSO directs Him to Me as a Funds Transfer/E-payment officer..........
Getting to me he picks a UIP form and doles out instructions on how much he wants sent to his GT account....After filling the form, He pays d Money wiff probably a commission of a hundred naira depending on d charge of d Bank...after depositin d moni in2 d TILL Account!!
He comes back to me and then I Mark His Transaction on My platform,This Goes to the Checker...Who myt b the HOp or an High ranking Officer in d Bank....After goin tru d details f d transaction...He authorises and whew!!!

Everyffin pans out well!!!!

Am Comin out soon wif Govt Revenue Collection...Just like d 1 HB Just signed wiff Nigeria Customs...I kinda Lov banking....

Kamnelly: About clearing cheques
we have d clearing officer who goes to d cbn to clear d cheques of a particular bank.
He is called d clearing officer. In Nigeria a particular date is separated for clearing cheques at d cbn (remember cheques above 150000 or so are not cashed across d counter.)all other clearing officers from other banks come together and cheques are exchanged eg macayo with uba cheque pays kamnelly 200000. Kamnelly pays it into her account at heritage bank. Didi with heritage cheque pays Julie 300000 and she lodges it into her account at Uba.on dat day d clearing officer from UBA will exchange d cheque with d officer for heritage bank and then uba will be owing heritage bank 100000 and this will be noted for next clearing date. Hope this will be an idea
I lov this kamnelly....Thanks!!I av an idea bout dat too...cos ma friend whu's a clearin officer does that!!!

The decision of Heritage Bank to remove
Commission On Turnover (COT), from
transactions in the bank, has continued
to generate commendations from the
bank’s customers, depositors and
shareholders.
Heritage Bank, which opened doors for
business in March this year, had stated
from the outset that it had no business
charging its customers COT. It also
distanced itself from the hidden charges
in the sector.
Speaking to the Nigerian Tribune, the
Chairman, Proactive Shareholders
Association of Nigeria (PSAN), Mr
Oderinde Taiwo, said the introduction of
zero COT, while other banks were
working towards 2016, was quite
commendable, stating that the bank had
started well and must be applauded by
all stakeholders in the sector.
He averred that the bank’s customer
service was already endearing it to the
hearts of depositors and customers in the
industry, urging the management of the
bank to sustain the service delivery
mechanism.
“This bank is bringing lot of innovations
into banking practice. In some of the
branches I have visited, it has been
service delivery at its best. Also there is
nothing like hidden charges in the bank.
I believe this will attract many
customers to the bank,” he said.
Also speaking, a customer of the bank,
Mrs Omonigho Osifo, said the bank did
its homework well before commencing
operations.
According to her, the bank has come to
address the shortcomings in the sector,
stating that its customer’s relation,
service delivery and technology were
second to none in the industry.
He called on Nigerians to open account
with the bank and avail themselves of
the service provided by the bank.
Only recently, Heritage Bank announced
the successful implementation of Infosys
Finance in world record time of just 50
days to drive its core banking and
treasury business.
The solution empowers the bank to
deliver seamless service to its growing
customer base of High Net Worth
Individuals (HNWI), and to roll out new
offerings for the small-to-medium
business banking segment.
With the deployment of this technology
in 50 days, the bank has met the go-live
mandate set by the Central Bank of
Nigeria (CBN). With this core banking
solution, the bank will achieve
significant automation in both front and
back office operations, reducing manual
effort and optimising banking processes.
According to the Managing Director/CEO
of the bank, Mr Ifie Sekibo, the bank is
expected to grow by 13 more branches
by June 2013 from three branches it
started with, adding that they had no
plan to compete with the so called big
banks as their services were going to be
quite different from what other banks
do.
Heritage Bank emerged from former
Societal Generale Bank of Nigeria (SGBN).
It is one of the two banks whose licenses
were recently restored by the CBN
following court orders nullifying
the revocation of their licenses.
SGBN has now resurfaced in the Nigerian
banking scene as Heritage Bank in
March this year. It began accounts
verification of customers of defunct
SGBN on January 28, 2013 to give the
customers the opportunity to either
withdraw their money or reactivate
their accounts with the new bank.
The bank provided 13 designated centres
across the country for customers of
former SGBN to revalidate their accounts
and collect instant cheques of the value
outstanding in their accounts
if desired. The centres spread over
eleven States/Cities included Lagos, Oyo,
Kwara, Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom,
Bayelsa, Adamawa, Zamfara, Kaduna
and FCT.
