Romance / Nigerian Couple Who Never Met Physically Until Their Wedding Shares Love Story by deturla: 6:35pm On Jan 17, 2020
OlaOlu, based in Nigeria met Fola, a Nigerian Nurse based in the U.K on Facebook sometime in July 2019 and they immediately hit it off.

Their conversation started with a comment on a Facebook post which quickly progressed into the DM. And the rest, as they say, IS HISTORY!

What makes this particular Naija love story exciting is that they never met physically during the 3 months they dated.

The love bug and connection was strengthened through video calls on Whatsapp and Facebook, and after 3 months of online dating, Fola travelled to Naija to meet her Prince Charming and they got MARRIED!

The husband made this post on Facebook:

It was Itodo's birthday and as Getmeri's ambassador I sent his number to the company to call and wish him a happy one. I shared his appreciation of the kind gesture on my timeline and next thing I know this Facebook friend commented that when will she get her own Getmeri call.

My first reaction was, kinni isolenu yí bayi? I couldn't leave the comment unattended to because Getmeri's image was at stake so I replied that she should dm me her number.

When she came inbox and dropped an international number, I was dismayed. International calls cost more and Getmeri nuh send me message reash this level. But she's got this good sense of humour and I could feel she was hitting on me as well.

That very night in August, we chatted for about 5 hours till early in the morning. The flow was effortless.

So I finally get to marry a nurse as it is and the prophecy I gave myself that my future wife would walk into my DM herself just like my mum walked into my dad's house is fulfilled.

Thanks to a few friends that have been part of our journey. Started from the DM now we're here.

We caught up with them before Fola made her return trip back to the UK, and they shared their journey from Facebook to getting married with us.

Love is indeed beautiful

So that someone can have something to inherit after they are gone. Also, they care about what posterity would have to say about them, they want others to remember them for their cleanliness and godliness in life dealings.

Looking at it from a proverbial angle, there is that completeness that engulfs one when you iron your clothes.

Wow!

How about looking at it from a spiritual angle?

Can we your explanation should suffice too?
Family / Why Do People Iron Their Clothes Before They Die? by deturla: 8:33am On Sep 14, 2019
This is really deep and requires a sense of spirituality to understand and decipher, and because I do not know a lot about life and death, I'm not sure how to answer.

A reader of my relationship blog sent the text to me on WhatsApp, and truth is I've seen a lot of cases people get to iron their clothes before they die.

You can see my response below.

Now why do they do this?

Is it because they are embarking on journey?
Or because it is not their time yet?
Or a mere coincidence?

Explorers:

Thanks.

Documentary/travel and event.

Okay great. First thing is for you to know which Camera you would be using and why,

Canon, Nikon or Sony? A budget entry level camera will just do and maybe a kit lens and a prime lens.

Since you won't be doing studio shoots, then those will be fine. Also, let YouTube be your very best friend.

Would have loved to say more though But then there will be too much to say.

If you are in Lagos, then good for you. I've got over 200 photography videos that you can leverage on. I believe these videos will answer all your question.

Meanwhile, make sure you follow PrinceMeyson and Ellisoft on YouTube.

I'll be here if you need further questions.

NB: I super love your threads. I hope we get to collaborate someday.

Compliments.

Thanks for the mention Bro.

Well, Explorers. What's your budget?

That's the most important thing first of all. When we have an idea of what budget you would be working on, then we can decide on the equipment to start with.

Also, what genre of photography will you be going into? I started out as a documentary TOG! Before moving into weddings and events.

You could want to be a Portrait Photographer. Just know that all these will be dependent on your budget.

Let's hear from you. Cheers.

You think ghosts don't exist? These ghost stories from the Facebook group RANTHQ will freak you the hell out. Maybe you will read to the end, maybe not! It depends on you and how you deal.

Read on:

Ghost Story 1

I am still shocked,  who said ghosts don't exist?
I was coming back from a meeting around 6:30pm just this past Sunday, we stopped at the traffic light and lo and behold,  I saw an old friend sitting on a bike waiting for the same traffic light to change.
I asked my guy to please park after the light so that I can properly greet my old friend and just as I was talking to my guy, he (my old friend) turned and looked at me with a smile on his face, waved at me then zoomed off.
Fast forward to today,  I ran into the sister of my old friend, after greetings I told her that I saw her brother two days ago. To my greatest surprise, she started screaming.
She calmed down after some time and now broke the news to me.  My old friend that waved at me on Sunday ( 2/12/2018) died on the (25/11/2018) and was buried on (1/12/2018).
I am still in shock.

Ghost Story 2

A cousin of mine brought her husband to my father while she was pregnant. I was still the one who served the brother ghost food o. When the lady now followed him to his parent place. He told her he wanted to see a friend and describe his parent house to the ladWhenWen she got there and introduced herself as their son's wife, she was told he died years ago. She later died after giving birth to the baby. So sad.

Ghost Story 3

My mother-in-law was in a coma for like 5days before she gave up the ghost on a Sunday which was mothering Sunday in our church. We came back crying and her friend heard the news and rushed to the house saying she saw her in the church that day and asked her why did she come to church under the rain that she just smiled and went inside the church.

Another person said she saw her the previous day close to a bakery and dodged her so she won't start complaining to her about her leg issues.

Three persons saw her not knowing that she had been in a coma for days.

After her death, a day never goes by without me feeling her presence in my house. Her spirit was everywhere in the house until she was led to rest. May her soul rest in peace. Amen

Ghost Story 4

My mum told me that when she was a teenager, there was this particular cousin of theirs that normally eat in their house.

One day, he came to my mum's house asking her for food that he was so hungry. When wen my mum was dishing out the food for him, he excused himself that he wants to go buy a bottle of cold drink outside, and a car hit him. He died immediately!

Could you believe that on the day of his burial, my mum left something in the kitchen and she got to the kitchen to pick it up. She then saw the deceased eating from there pot. She fainted and she did not get herself for days.

Ghost Story 5

A friend once shared his own encounter one night like that. How a friend died in the hospital while with him.

Years later, my friend visited Delta state. He was in a bus heading somewhere. And just like the normal way a bus would stop for a passenger to enter, behold his friend ( late friend ) was going to enter the bus, and soon as they both stared at each other, the late friend refuse to enter, standing just firmly and staring.

The driver shouted and zoomed off because he won't enter. And him my friend was speechless, confused, and surprised. Goosebumps all over him that day. He even said he felt his head was bigger than his body that day.

I had to pass the night in his house after he told me the story.

Now, you see that ghost stories are real? Or you know this already because you had a similar experience? Then why not share in the
comments.

Dear Married Women Who Attack Side Chicks on Social Media.

Listen and listen good!

The issue is not with the side chicks, the crux of the matter lies with your husbands.

The fact that you are a social media user doesn’t mean you should discredit another person’s personality or call out any other person here for some unwarranted reasons.

Lay your fights where they should be, leave the frigging side chick ALONE! Her own matter lies with God and not you.

Focus on your husband, if he can’t learn to put his randiness and manhood in check, then you can help him – whatever means you deem necessary.

It is totally uncalled for, unreasonable, illogical and absurd to bring a babe’s name on social media whether it is based on hearsay or whether you got them dating or sleeping with each other.

You don’t have any right to do what you do, you don’t have any right to face any lady. The onus lies on you to deal with your family, your husband, the one whose irresponsibility is as high as the Mount Everest.

A lot of you do not know how irresponsible your husbands are in the DM of these ladies or what they tell them to discredit you and your personality and ego. A lot of you don’t know that while you focus on another female, instead of your husband, she keeps on enjoying the fruits of your labour (as you usually say it)

A lot of you cannot face your perv husbands and accuse them of infidelity as if the foul you scream on the girls on here will make your husbands stop sharing their manhood.

Y’all need some sense, I’ll borrow you some. Go face your frigging husbands.

When you got married to your man, there was a PROMISE of COMMITMENT and DEDICATION from one person to another – You to HIM and HIM to you. So, go over to him, whom his promise to you has been dented/ destroyed/ or broken. Get your answers from HIM.

A man does you dirty, you go rant on the side chick!

I’m not here to play pityparty. Stop focusing on the irrelevancies and put more efforts in making your man PAY for his actions.

You think you telling up a girl to leave your man alone will make your man stop his acts?

Rubbish!!

Romance / Sexual Harassment At Workplace - My Story by deturla: 2:25pm On Nov 14, 2018
I know that there are several sexual harassments between my plight and what most opposite-sex face.

I've always known my boss to be friendly and accommodating but didn't get the picture at first when Madam started giving me extra cash for t-fare, lunch hour treat and all. I thought she was being nice.

Things were going smoothly as other staffs were growing wary and getting jealous of our boss-staff relationship. But I never knew what the consequences might give birth to.

Months later, I realized I was the only one out of 12 engineers the company is still owing three months salary. Every other field engineers have been settled except me. Haha! me of all people, Madam's favourite engineer.

Days after I noticed, I confront the accountant about what's going and to my surprise, she said Madam haven't acknowledged any of my documents and she tried knowing what prompt such actions but Madam is not ready to hear her out.

Okay, if that's the case I'll ask her myself, for about two weeks, wasn't able to go office due to field work and all, traveling from one state to another.

Thought it would be convenient if I push the issue to the official WhatsApp group, after complaining and all she still didn't acknowledge any of the chats.

Then she chats me privately, saying she purposely delayed my documents that if I need her to sign those paper we need to sort things out privately.

I took it like it was normal, till she initiated a WhatsApp video the following night, on seeing her I blink off because I couldn't believe what I saw she's half naked and to my surprise she said "OH SORRY, I WAS ABOUT TO GO FOR A SHOWER" and I replied maybe after you're done ma! at that particular moment, I wasn't looking at the screen. She continued with DON'T TELL ME YOU'RE SHY. Couldn't answer any of her questions, I press the red button and ignore her video calls afterward and message her that it would be convenient if we chat.

She didn't respond to any of my chats, but keep initiating the video call, at this point I noticed she's careful of chatting. To cut the story short, I went over to her office to put the issue at rest once and for all.

She called me into the conference room, shut the door and held the key, closed the blind and switched on the AC. She started to cling towards me, and at that point, I was not bothered. At least Madam wouldn't effectively force herself on me, hurt or blackmail me. I wasn't stressed or bothered about it until it took a turn I never expected.

She leaned forward and told me how she'd love to have me and all other gibberish my brain couldn't comprehend because of the fact that I wasn't feeling the atmosphere. I was shocked and just frozen at first and then she turned from being nice to commands and threats that if I didn't oblige to her request she wouldn't sign the document and all.. 3 months effort, 330k go just fly?.

I tried to explore the circumstance precisely, played it off as though she was just pulling my legs or some sort of silly pranks. One negative word from her about me would paint me black. She's trying to utilize that as a leverage, accentuating the influence she has.

I tried enough to stay away from her closeness by expressing gratitude for all she has done and smiling inconveniently and all, but most importantly sending a NO NO signal to her request.

Regardless of what I said or did, she veered back to IT WON'T TAKE LONG, JUST 5 MINUTES AND WE'RE OUT OF HERE. Still couldn't believe what I heard.

She moved back with some threatening statement like "You don't want your job anymore shey?" I smiled it away, knowing my position at the company and that it wouldn't be appropriate. At that point, she started grilling me on why I wouldn't want a decent sensual pleasure from her coupled with other freebies I would have access to and also rubbing shoulders with the big guns in the company.

At that point, lots of positive and negative thought flooded my mind; WHAT IF THIS WHOLE SCENARIO CHANGES TO A RAPE CASE, and I know no matter what I say people won't believe my side of the story and they will react with unsurprising drivel: OLOJU KOKORO NI, OTI RI OLOWO, OLOSHI ( That I was just a gold digger, an idiot). At that point a thought just flew in, why not record this, I did and minimized my phone to the home screen.

At this point, she started to unbutton her suit and removed her earrings, my feet trembled, sweated heavily despite the AC. And all I could pray for was, I need to wake up from this nightmare and all this should be over with.

My prayers answered but this time it wasn't a nightmare but an actual reality, her phone rang, and then she picked up. After a lengthy conversation, she ended the call, hissed and said, Akin (not real name for legal reasons) we will continue this other time, but for the main time think about it. She then zoomed off.

I Couldn't believe what just happened, I rushed out before she changed her mind to come in again. I went down to my desk to pack my tools, laptop with other necessary things and went home.

I was to supervise a BTS installation the following day, I called the site FSCE that I would not resume work the next day and that he should notify the project manager, so it won't look like I didn't notify them of the development, this was after much deliberation and legal consult from my dad's lawyer.

Madam called me that night to ask why and I told her I quit since I couldn't provide what she wanted. She laughed it off saying YOU DON'T MEAN IT. and she hung up.. That was the last I heard from her.

After two days she called me that since I refused to resume work and let us settle the issue amicably then what happened between us should stay between us, but to me, it didn't stay between us, it has taken a legal turn and the issue has been reported along with the conversation I recorded.

As of now the case is still pending but heading the right way.

There's nothing good about sexual harassment. It's profoundly perplexing and frightening. In a society where people find it hard to secure a job and in another turn some trying to keep their jobs and with the alarming rate of sexual harassment, you can feel disempowered and lose your job or career. Let us learn to report any sexual harassment or abuse case to the appropriate authorities.

Crime / My Primary School Teacher And My Rape Story - Lady by deturla: 6:10pm On Sep 15, 2018
A Nigerian Instagram influencer, @NGD shared this touching rape story on Instagram. Please read on:

My parents were the type who believed every child must be kept busy one way or the other after school hours and their own way of keeping me busy was by getting me a lesson teacher. It was during my early primary school days. Uncle X was one of the most friendly teachers in my school, he was also very handsome with a good sense of humor which he used in winning everyone's heart including the parents. Most students who always had extra lessons with other teachers moved to uncle X's lesson as soon as he started his after-school lessons in which I wasn't left behind. He was also my class teacher so he spends extra time to teach his own students so we could do well in our exams.

Along the way, my school canceled all extra lessons held in school for some reasons known to them, due to this, uncle X lost most of his students except me and a few others. So he brought up the idea of us coming to his house after school for the lesson including Saturdays. My parents had no issues with it since they felt it was a way of keeping me occupied as every other parent would and since uncle x was known to be a very respectable person. The other kids I was having the lesson with left my school at some point, so it was just me and 3 others. I was the most punctual of them all, especially the Saturday classes.

One day after a lesson, I decided to stay a bit after a Saturday day class because we finished quite early and I knew there would be no one at home since my parents had an event they were attending. I was sitting on the floor watching TV (his room was set up in the typical Naija big boy way of that time), he asked me to come and sit on the bed and I told him I was OK on the floor. After much persuasion I answered, I laid down with my chest, so he stood up and locked the door. I started becoming scared, so I jumped up with speed from his bed and told him I wanted to start going. He held my hand very tight and place his other hand on my cheek and asked me with a calm voice why I was in a hurry all of a sudden to go, I told nothing that I just want to go, I was still trying to struggle with him when he pushed me on the bed.

He took a knife from the wardrobe and told that he would kill me if I screamed, so I held my mouth like a baby so I don't scream out loud like he said, he asked me to lay down properly on the bed, he came to the bed and removed my pant, I was still trying to struggle then he held the knife up again and asked me to stay calm that he was only going to put the tip that he wasn't going to disvirgin me. He fingered me with to two of his fingers from one hand and still held the knife on the other, all I had in me was fear, after he was done, he unzipped his trousers and brought out his d***k, I got even more scared and started crying more, he yelled at me to keep quiet and said its just the tip and it won't take long.

He put the tip like he said, rubbed it through my clit and vulva and he was done. By the time he was done, my uniform was stained a little at the back, he asked me to remove it, he then ironed dried. He gave me back to wear then unlocked the door, I quickly picked up my school bag, with the aim of running out, he pulled me back and held the knife at me again, and warned to never to say anything to anyone if not he would kill me.

He gave me N50 to buy sweet and biscuits which I tore on my way. I felt empty on my way as if I just lost something, I was still covered in fear, my whole body was shaking, I was feeling pain everywhere. I met my mum in the sitting room when I got home, she immediately came to me and asked if something was wrong, I really wanted to talk but I remembered uncle x's voice telling me he would kill me if I said anything to anyone. Instead, I started crying and told my mum I fell inside the gutter on my way back. I couldn't sleep that night, I was surrounded with fear, the whole scene kept on playing in my head, I was angry, sad, confused and scared and I couldn't talk to anyone about it. My mum noticed changes in my behavior and was constantly asking if something was wrong, I would keep saying no.

The next Monday, I got to school to find out that uncle x had resigned, apparently most of the teachers knew he had tendered his resignation letter from the beginning of the former week. I was shocked, weak. I sat somewhere and cried again. I was also relieved that whatever had happened wasn't going to happen again. I would cry every night for a long time until it just stopped and I got over it.

A few years ago, I saw him again, I was standing by the roadside, he yelled my name, as soon as I saw him, I had that fear and anger again, it got worse when he got closer, he probably noticed it, he whispered "I'm not going to touch you" in my hears, he was also trying to start a conversation with me, thank God I got a bike almost immediately and left him there. My heart kept on beating fast through out the whole day.

Today I saw him again, and I had the same fear and anger all over me, he tried talking to me but whatever he had to say I wasn't and would never be interested, typing this alone makes me feel some kind of way, I feel choked up putting all of these in words, I don't even know what this means, I feel like if I had told someone about it, it wouldn't have been tormenting me this way. I'm scared this fear and anger might never go away, I'm scared I might never forget. I always thought I had moved on until he pops up in my presence again.

It's been a really long time, yet the fear won't just go away. I still haven't told anyone about it till today.

Give no room for memory block by reading the works of people who are advanced in your space

I write for a company in Florida...so I spend time reading Nytimes, Mashable, CCN (not CNN), Bloomberg, etc.

As regards how I unwind, I always go to the mall and eateries. Not to mention going to church

I don't drink

I don't fancy hanging out with the guys on my street...I can't learn anything from them

And nairaland and bae are good company grin

Which state are u?

This is really cool. I live in Surulere and I think I like your personality. A lot of Nairalanders don't seem serious about telecommuting, that's why you'll see them asking questions everywhere.

I manage a media business straight from home - Office, Studio and all. It's been fun so far.

You can hit me up sometime. Let's chill and share creative thoughts and ideas.
