A lady identified on Instagram as @Calabar_Chic has taken to her page to write about her devastating and harrowing kidnap experience. Please READ:

SO MANY QUESTIONS I WANT TO ASK BUT WHO WILL PROVIDE ANSWERS? OUR SECURITY AGENCIES? FEDERAL GOVT OR THE PRESIDENT HIMSELF?

Because I’m still in shock , confused and wondering if we are safe in this country at all!

WHY HAS THE GOVT NOT SHOWN ANY WILLINGNESS TO CHECKMATE THESE MURDEROUS FULANI HERDSMEN? WHY? ATTACKING, MAIMING AND KILLING PEOPLE FREELY!

THESE ANIMALS WHO SEE KILLING AS A HOBBY! THEY ARE NOT SHAKEN OR SCARED LIKE THEY TOLD MY FRIEND DOZIE AND I WHEN THEY HELD US HOSTAGE IN THAT FOREST “We go continue dey kill una all of you, nothing go happen! We no care about any human life we slaughter you into pieces and bury you nothing go happen”

My heart froze, I was paralyzed with fear!

These animals as I will forever refer to them carry out these operations at ease as this happened just few poles away from SARS office on Benin Bypass/ Lagos road.

On that Monday they stormed the highway around midday opened fire on our car took us off the highway after robbing us of cash and other valuables. At first we thought they were just armed robbers until we walked for almost 2hrs deep into the forest with them then it dawned on me that this was not just robbery. Kept us for 4 horrible days inside that scary dangerous forest, starved us no food or water for 2 days until the third day when they served us unclean water to drink MY GOD!!! or the unripe pineapple they forced us to eat on the third day that got my whole mouth teeth and gum bleeding! How could i even sleep? With ants, bugs spiders and other deadly insects crawling all over your body and you dare not scream!

4 horrible days accompanied by constant slaps and kicking at the slightest provocation. The different kinds of guns they had on them, And I kept asking myself “HOW DO THEY GET THESE AMMUNITION? WHO SUPPLIES THEM THOSE WEAPONS? Different rifles including their daggers and cutlass with which they flogged us with.We survived through all of it not because of sheer luck! Of course money was involved but some other people might not get so lucky.

MEANWHILE SECURITY OPERATIVES IN NIGERIA SHOULD WAKE UP TO THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES! FEDERAL GOVERNMENT STOP COOKING UP EXCUSES AND TAKE ACTION!

**************************************************************************************************************

What is happening in this Country? What is wrong with our Police force? Are we even safe at all?

What can we do to curb the increasing boldness of these kidnappers?

Romance / Damaged And Broken – The Heartbreaking Rape Story Of A 19 Year Old by deturla: 10:39am On Jan 02, 2018
This is serious and sensitive, and since I am not a Psychologist, I have decided to bring it in here. Please mature responses are needed. Thanks smiley

This is a TRUE LIFE HEARTBREAKING RAPE STORY OF A 19 YEAR OLD YOUNG BROKEN GIRL. She needs help:

I wish I am as strong as people think I am, a girl who can get through anything, a girl who breezes through heartbreaks and pain. A girl who is so independent, so strong willed and positive and at the same time I wish I was numb as I will like to think. I wish I don’t feel anymore. I wish I don’t care about anyone.

I just wish. Do wishes come true?

I am broken, my heart feels like it’s in pieces and every piece has a jagged edge. These edges poke me from the inside every time I remember how my tomorrow was STOLEN. Or was it not?

When I was young, my love for junks was extraordinary. My love for every single person that’s breathes was beyond measures. I was jovial, and everyone loved me so dearly. I was my parent’s priceless jewel.

Then one day, a man who lives in the same compound with us called me, took me to the room and started making stupid advances at me. I was eight years old at that time. He started touching me by putting his hands in my pants, then he used a screw driver too.I did not know what he did because I was confused.

I started screaming because it was painful, and then he choked me on the neck and raped me countless times.

Afterwards he gave me my favourite cake. He told me not to tell anybody or else he will throw me away and I won’t see her parents again. Scared, I decided to keep quiet about this incident.

It was a secret I kept to myself.

He made it a daily routine, and slept with me at every opportunity. I later summoned enough courage and reported to the man’s son, who was 17 years old at that time. The son took me to his room and told me what the father did was not wrong but he would teach me another so I would enjoy it. I never knew what I did at that time, but I allowed the son to have his way.

At that age, I began to ask for more from the son because I felt it was interesting and began to enjoy it. At that AGE! I will even go and ask him for more if he was not making any move. I became addicted to what I never knew was totally crazy. I never mentioned this to my parents.

It continued like that for TWO years.

When the son stopped, I started reaching out to my male friends in school, and so my devastating sex life continued. When I was 13, I started sleeping with different guys because one guy was just not enough for me. I wanted more. My life went this way till I graduated out of Secondary school.

I gained admission into the University at 16 and went to school and continued my life. I knew I was addicted to s*x but tried to stay strong to conquer my addiction. During my first month in school, I went clubbing with my cousin with the intention that I would find my way back to the school. Night came and I tried reaching to to my cousin so as to get description from her only to realize phone was dead and could not find my way back. Trying to find my way back and asking for descriptions at the club, I met a man who told me how dangerous it was to go to school at that time and how it was too late to even get into the school premises. He suggested that I sleep over at this place and I agreed to.

Unfortunately for me, I was forcefully raped again that night. Twice!

This broke me yet again!

I became an animal, slept with whoever and whatever I see. I became a maniac, wanting things between my legs every minute of the day.

Then I met him, he was ready to listen to me, to help me deal with my past. He was the only one who accepted me for who I was. He made me strong and told me I can be whole again!

I loved him so much, yes I did.

We dated for three years and during those times, it was difficult to get me off s*x. It was an addiction, I was addicted!

With him, we were able to manage the addiction, and then it happened.

He graduated and went to serve. I missed him so much, couldn’t control my sexual urges and cheated with multiple men. He got a wind of this and BROKE up with me immediately!

Here again I was alone in my terrible world, dealing with my damaged self.

I want to change. I have tried everything. I am addicted to sex, I am a machine. I am a nymphomaniac. I am trying so hard, so very hard, but the past won’t just give me life.

The past won’t allow the breakthrough to happen.

I am damaged and broken! WHAT CAN I DO?

I am sure you had set new year resolutions.

Not this year though, but at some point in your life. You made plans to score a total A, lose some weights, clean yourself up more. Infact you had plans to get that beautiful babe of your dreams. While some of your new year resolutions may be action-laden and realizable, some may be too vague to even work on.

In other cases, you may have had that plan to work on those actionable new year resolutions only to realize that life happened and reality sets in, thus, affecting the plans you had in the new year. This post is not to encourage you to make more new year resolutions than last year or push you to achieving your new year resolutions, this post is actually set up to make you see the various easy, flexible and achievable new year resolutions that would give your life a new meaning getting into the new year.

What do you think? Reasonable, right? let’s get started with the new year resolutions you can easily keep:

1. Give procrastination a hit on the face:

Start it! Just do it!

You will never know how easy or even how difficult it will be if you don’t start. Yes we have all the resolutions, plans, ideas to make thing certain obligations materialize. We even have the action plan to get it started, yet to start is a problem. You will only realize that you keep postponing getting things done with not actual reason for postponing.

I have always wanted to learn portrait retouching in photography. Infact it was a major plan in 2017, but up till now, I ask myself why I have failed to get to the level I wanted to be. I only started learning in November. Remember a whole 11 months wasted in procrastination.

Procrastination is a state of mind. Deal with your mind, re-align your thoughts, create a never say never attitude, and you are on your way to getting things done.

2. Reduce stress:

Nigeria is hard, in fact life is hard generally, and we know it. But why complicate matters by stressing yourself in the new year?

One of the greatest health destroyers out there is stress. It can damage your healthy lifestyle to a point of no repair, but it can also also be managed through meaningful and conventional methods like learning to stop working, sleeping on time, and eating healthy food. Look at the little things that make you happy and engage in them when you are stressed out. I guess they help a great deal.

3. Bring back the piggybank:

Just this year alone, I have heard stories of people breaking the bank with monies in their piggy bank. Just this year alone, I have seen banks make heavy deductions from savings, with terms such as maintenance cost, sms alert to mention a few.

Piggy bank is a safe traditional way of saving little to become big. All those extra funds you have been wasting around could just be dropped in the piggy bank instead of being spent on irrelevancies, and you will be surprised at mid year or end of the year that the money in your piggy bank can get you a lot of things you dreamt of having.

So, why not, if not a piggy bank in the new year?

4. Change your hobby into a career:

I used to be an accountant, but I discovered that following my hobby pays more, and here I have you read me every line of the way.

You think you can’t be like me. It starts with a mighty step. A step to be more positive and proactive. That hobby you enjoy to do can eventually become a career for you. Imagine what joy and what life you would have when you make enough cash doing what you love. All you need to do is create a break even point between fun, enjoyment and being productive and you will have an amazing and well balanced 2018.

Your hobby can eventually become an amazing career for you. Trust me, I’ve been there!

5. Stop African time:

It takes more than just talking and doing to achieve this. A lot of us are already used to lateness that we seem to tag it African time. The new year should be the time to correct yourself consciously that punctuality should your watchword in everything you do. You need to gather all the tricks you can make use of online to ensure you deal with the issue of African time.

The hallmark of a great person cum professional is punctuality. Deal with it!

6. Smile while you’ve still got teeth:

It does not cost a dime to smile, and it does not take anything away from you. We know the country is hard, but see, you need to smile while you still can. This does not make you ‘a suffering and smiling’ kind of person but rather makes you an all round emotional, friendly and accommodating individual.

Here you have it all, 6 new year resolutions you can easily keep, rather than put up with bogus and mighty resolutions you will not be able to deal with it. The new year is yours for the taking. Have a great year ahead.

It’s about that time of the year again when people start making promises to themselves both in secret and in the open that they would end up not keeping at all.

For some people, it’s the best way to start a year and move on from the past one while for some, it’s a whole ball of garbage and seems overrated. But is it really?

The best way, I mean. It’s become routine for almost 80% of the world’s population to write down or make a mental note of all the things they’d either love to achieve or the habits they’d try to change or situations they’d love to turn around or maybe even goals they’d love to achieve in the new year. I’m guessing they believe the magic of the new year or just something about the new year would change things for them and help them achieve these.

But wait a minute, isn’t it just like shutting your eyes to sleep and waking up to a new day that the sun rises quite like it did the day before, even though the previous day was the final day of the past month? So what new magic is there to change things? Believe me, I don’t mean to be a ball buster or a kill joy but what’s the major difference in having already set goals you’d love to achieve and making new year plans just because it’s a new year?

Well, you wouldn’t need rocket science to deduce that I’m one of those people who think new year resolutions are very much over-hyped and overrated. I’ve got a few reasons to back up my claim. Feel free to criticize these reasons but you’ve got to do more than criticize me, you’ve got convince me to change my mind although I don’t think you can.

1. They Are Always Made As A Means For Redemption:

Majority of the people who make new year resolutions do them as a means to right their mistakes and find much sought after redemption. Most of the resolutions I have heard people make, and the few I thought about making in the past sprung mostly from previous mistakes made in the past. They always feel the new year should start with a new kind of life, one without you dragging the past along, which is actually a really nice idea but mustn’t be at the beginning of the year. You can always let go of things for your own good and not because you feel it’s sane enough to start a year with new redeeming thoughts.

2. New Year Resolutions Are Mostly Filled With Unreasonable And Unachievable Plans:

Everyone who makes or has made a new year resolution always aims to top his previous ante and push himself/herself a little be more. So they mostly say things too wonderful for their minds to even comprehend or achieve.

Most of these resolutions are just too ridiculous to even think of. And they do so to fulfill the school of thought which urges people to think bigger than they normally do and hope to achieve more. Instead of thinking considerably big as is understandable, they go way above normalcy and plan for things they wouldn’t even achieve in reality. They always expect a huge miracle to happen and bring these plans to life. Then they sit on their butts and wait for these miracles to come through. Yes, without even putting in any work.

3. New Year Resolutions Are Always Done At A Bad Time In The Year:

New year resolutions would have been awesome if they were done at a certain time of the year, say, February, when they Christmas craze and the new year jitters have all died down and all you’ve got left are your sanity and some new drive for the new year. Instead, it is usually done at a time when everyone’s busy making merry and worrying what the new year has in store for them. A time when feelings are all over the place and all everyone is thinking about is being better than they were before instead of real personal, social and professional growth.

I mean, who makes decisions at a time when it’s best to be a foodie?

4. It’s majorly procrastination:

Many times than less, new year’s resolutions are made in a hurry usually at the last minute when the fireworks hit the sky. When not written down, they come off like little pleas to do better, be better and achieve better than the previous year. All these come in a split second when the year is almost minutes in.

So, It is more like a ceremonious chant in one’s head to put to rest the feeling of imperfection and inadequacy the past year probably left in them and start the new year with fewer or no sins. Everyone knows that hurried decisions have very short life spans and will definitely reach nowhere. Then for those who actually write them down, they mostly put together elusive ideas from previous years or recessive habits they’d love to quit and thoughts they feel should have been reality by now and try to psyche themselves into achieving these written plans by pushing themselves a little bit more. But then, a few weeks later, the lists are thrown aside and forgotten.

Do you think new year resolutions are not overrated? Share your thoughts with me in the comment section below!

It was 7:00pm that fateful Sunday, when I left Oriental Hotels Eti-Osa to Sandfield busstop to get a bus heading to Costain, I was there for 30 minutes waiting for the bus when I suddenly felt a nudge on my back. I thought someone tapped me only to realize it was the breeze of the Osa River that blew across my shirt.

Looking at the river, I suddenly felt the urge to walk towards it. Like there was someone there beckoning at me to come.

I hesitated for a while and then later walked down to the bank of the Eti-Osa. I just felt the need to sit and enjoy the breeze of the river as it slaps my face like the tender palms of a 3-month-old baby.

Suddenly, I felt the urge to talk to Edumare, to look down on me and bless me in the new year.

I felt that deep spiritual awareness that Oluwa was really staring down at me and anything I need, he would provide.
Caught up in a little trance like state and lost in my thoughts, while reveling in the calmness of Osa, a tap on my shoulder jolted me out of my reverie.

I was surprised to see an 80 year old woman smile at me, her teeth seemed to have gone with the tides of time, leaving only bits that summed up her old age.

She told me she needed my help to make her sit beside me, while making a joke of how I had occupied her seat by the river bank.

I quickly apologized and made to stand so she could seat at her ‘spot’, but she declined and said, it was fine! She would gladly sit beside me. There was something eerie about my new friend and seat companion.

I suddenly felt so cold, and my body was shaking in heavy spams, I could not place a hand on it, it was a deep metaphysical feeling but I did not really pay attention to it because I was more concerned about making Mama comfortable.

Mama Khadijah, as she introduced herself told me the spot I sat was the same spot she sits as well, said she sat there whenever she wanted to speak to Oluweri! She told me she clocked 80 years a day earlier and she needed to come to Eti-Osa to thank Oluweri for sparing her life.

She continued and said Oluweri did amazing things for her because, when she had issues in her first marriage, Oluweri took away her pain and gave her a better man, in her late husband. I never really understood what she meant by pain taken away and never asked!

Mama also continued that she had 6 children and all of them left paid employment to start businesses for themselves, she then said if I was a businesss man, it was the perfect time to ask Oluweri what I wanted!

I smiled and told her I don’t worship Oluweri but Eledumare. She laughed and told me Eledumare sent Oluweri to govern things in the water and beyond.

She further told me she made a pact with Iyemoja to come to the river bank every day in appreciation of the goodness she has received, and she feels her time is up. The pact she had with Oluweri was to put herself up as a part of Oluweri’s kingdom at the golden hour of a particular day when she clocks 80.

But before anything she wants to bless me because she felt the urge to. Mama asked me to kneel before her, and told me to make a wish.

I told her I wished to see the Iyemoja she mentioned bless me with the support of Olorun. She smiled, and patted me on the back, the same way I felt a breeze touch me at the back when I was at Sandfield Bustop.

Mama Khadija told me all the prayers I prayed earlier on had been answered.

I felt that deep shudder and cold yet again, and while I was saying ‘Amin’, Mama walked slowly into the river.

I wanted to scream for “HELP” but I was rooted to the spot, mouth sealed as I could only make a feeble cry.

Mama Khadijah glided slowly towards the Osa River, and I saw two ‘mysterious’ women come to the surface to pull Mama into the waters.

Beads of sweats broke from my face down my body and all of a sudden I stood up like I was in a trance and walked slowly towards Sandfield Bustop. A force beyond comprehension stayed with me till I entered into the next available bus to Costain. I checked the watch at that time, it was 11pm.
