Re: Ubuntu Linux by 4llerbuntu(m): 1:17pm
There is an application called Libreoffice.

it comes pre-installed with Ubuntu. it works better than Openoffice or any other word processor native to linux.

it is also better supported. you are advised to stick to using this.

for text editors, there is an application called Gedit that comes pre-installed.

it does everything a proficient text editor does. its also native and well supported.

what does this notetab do thats so special?

Is there any special reason why these applications are not sufficient for your needs?

As for WINE, since your proficiency with the OS is limited i suggest you stay off it. unless the need is compelling i don't see why you need it. you probably cannot even configure it to work properly.

LibreOffice, and Apache Openoffice, I see as a matter of choice. I've used Openoffice, for years with MS windows, starting with 1.0.1, I would think. I've also used it with my previous Ubuntu upgrade, starting with Ubuntu 9.(?). I think LibreOffice takes a bit of getting use to. It's looking better today since updating, but it has given me plenty trouble in the past. For a while, I thought it had a mind of its own. It would shut down any time it wanted to, and I would have to start over again.
Gedit, I use regularly. I have no complaints, regarding it. Notetab, I've also used for years, with MS Windows. The thing is that, I have a different use for each editor. Openoffice, MS Works, I've always used for heavy writing/composition. Notetab, I prefer for copying, making notes, adding/trying code, etcetera.
I also, use AbiWord, but it has been troublesome as well, this time around.

Wine, I've found some information for, but I'm hesitant to go for it. I don't find Linux, to be friendly towards some type downloads. Synaptic package manager has several different wine packages. This site has one or two that I would be interested in. http://www.winehq.org/

Why not LibreOffice i used it at school and work, works well

I use LibreOffice, but it was always acting up, it seems to me. I couldn't get use to it. I had suspected that this OS, Ubuntu 12.04, was not as proficient as Ubuntu 10.1(?). I had some new update packages (50), installed yesterday, and I'm using LibreOffice, today, and it does act a little differently now. I'll give it some more tests and then decide.

Well, I couldn't wait I suppose. I found the answer to the Openoffice, problem Here: Problem Solved

The problem with Wine, will take a while to solve, I would think. Of course, any suggestions will be welcomed.
Computers / Re: Ubuntu Linux by DevotedOne(m): 7:28pm On Jan 09, 2014
I wanted to know if anyone is running 'Apache Openoffice' 4.0.1. I'm having trouble installing it. I had it on Ubuntu 10, and it was no problem. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 (precise), presently. It opens Archive Manager, then 'extracts' files, but I'm not able to use these files (??). What kind of problem is this?

http://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html (using text editor/word processor)

I am also interested in "Notetab Light" another text editor, but it needs 'wine' and when I checked 'synaptic package manager' there was several
packages named 'wine.' Which do I use? Or, should I install all of them??

http://www.notetab.com/notetab-light.php 'Linux in conjunction with Wine'

Thanks, in advance for your replies.

Malaysian religious authorities actively monitoring spread of Shia teachings
INTERNATIONAL NEWS, NEWS | 09:14 AM

The Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim) receives the cooperation of the respective state Islamic religious councils and state Islamic religious departments in monitoring and taking enforcement action against the spread of Shia teachings in this country.

The Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim) receives the cooperation of the respective state Islamic religious councils and state Islamic religious departments in monitoring and taking enforcement action against the spread of Shia teachings in this country.
Jakim director-general Datuk Othman Mustapha said besides monitoring and enforcement by the religious authorities, the respective state muftis also held dialogues with suspected Shia groups to curb the spread of Shia teachings.

“There are states which have brought cases involving Shia teachings to the shariah courts,” he told reporters after the opening of the 26th National-Level Conference of heads of Maahad Tahfiz Al-Quran, here, Tuesday night.

It was opened by Kelantan Islamic Religion and Malay Custom Council deputy president, Datuk Kamaruddin Mohd Zin.

Othman was asked on actions taken by Jakim to curb the spread of Shia teachings among Muslims in the country.

On another matter, Othman said the process of upgrading Darul Quran Jakim into a college university was in the final stage and expected to materialise soon.

He said currently, Darul Quran, a Quran higher learning institution in Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor, collaborated with 13 other Quran learning institutions nationwide for the Tahfiz Al Quran Diploma programme involving more than 1,200 students.

“Those who completed their diploma studies, can go for degree courses in other fields at the public higher learning institutions including the International Islamic University Malaysia,” he said.

Othman said the realisation of parents and the demand for their children to study at the Darul Quran and Maahad Tahfiz Al Quran was high.

I was surprised to learn that the Aga Khan is descended from the Prophet Muhammad [PBUH], and is considered the Imam of the Ismalili Muslims. He appears to be well learned in diplomacy/statesmanship. He has some interesting views, concerning worldly matters. He is also interested in Muslim women's equality/rights, to a high degree, for which I applaud him.

I would suppose, and most will agree, that many words cannot be translated exactly, from one language to another. We do not know how many translations this gospel passed through over the centuries, until it reached us in these times. There is too much truth in it, for this gospel to be called a forgery. I suspect that many refuse to accept its precepts.

I see no problem with clarifying the matter. The Bounteous Qur'aan clearly states that Prophet Isa [Jesus, PBUH] is Messiah/Christ. Jesus PBUH, states in Gospel of Barnabas that He PBUH, is not 'that Messiah' sent to all the tribes of earth. What could be clearer?

the gospel claimed that Jesus rejected being the messiah, of which Qur'an itself confirmed Jesus as the Messiah Sura 3:45
You said it earlier that the authenticity of Quran made you choose the only undiluted part of the gospel, now is it Qur'an that is correct or gospel of Barnabas?

I guess you didn't notice this before you paste it.

I noticed it, and here is the clear statement of Prophet Isa [Jesus, PBUH]. He PBUH, does not ever, deny being Messiah. However, He PBUH, was sent only to the Children of Israel; isn't this correct? Now look at the following verse:

Chapter 97
Jesus answered: "As God lives, in whose presence my soul stands, I am not the Messiah whom all the tribes of the earth expect, even as God promised to our father Abraham, saying: "In your seed will I bless all the tribes of the earth." But when God shall take me away from the world, Satan will raise again this accursed sedition, by making the impious believe that I am God and son of God, whence my words and my doctrine shall be contaminated, insomuch that scarcely shall there remain thirty faithful ones: whereupon God will have mercy upon the world, and will send his Messenger for whom he has made all things who shall come from the south with power, and shall destroy the idols with the idolaters who shall take away the dominion from Satan which he has over men. He shall bring with him the mercy of God for salvation of them that shall believe in him, and blessed is he who shall believe his words.

John 1:21-26 "And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias. And they which were sent were of the Pharisees. And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet. John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not.

Again it is believed that John has recognised who Jesus was after baptising him but when john is about to be decapitated he was unsure if jesus is the awaited one and he sent his disciples to ask if jesus is really the one to come.. Why would john contradict himself regarding the identity of jesus?

The above is just a small portion of numerous accounts that makes one to doubt the authenticity of the bible .

It is likely that the above John 1-21-26 never occurred. See following; It is a clear statement that Prophet Jesus PBUH, is not "that Messiah," that is sent to the whole world:

Chapter 42

Then the disciples wept after this discourse, and Jesus was weeping, when they saw many who came to find him, for the chiefs of the priests took counsel among themselves to catch him in his talk. Wherefore they sent the Levites and some of the scribes to question him, saying: "Who are you?"

Jesus confessed, and said the truth: "I am not the Messiah." They said: "Are you Elijah or Jeremiah, or any of the ancient prophets?" Jesus answered: "No." Then said they: "Who are you? Say, in order that we may give testimony to those who sent us." Then Jesus said: "I am a voice that cries through all Judea, and cries: "Prepare you the way for the messenger of the Lord," even as it is written in Esaias;." *

They said: "If you be not the Messiah nor Elijah, or any prophet, wherefore do you preach new doctrine, and make yourself of more account than the Messiah?" Jesus answered: "The miracles which God works by my hands show that I speak that which God wills; nor indeed do I make myself to be accounted as him of whom you speak. For I am not worthy to unloose the ties of the hosen or the ratchets of the shoes of the Messenger of God whom you call "Messiah," * who was made before me, and shall come after me, and shall bring the words of truth, so that his faith shall have no end."

oops, I missed this one in a previous post, sorry.
So what are the things true in other gospels.....I guess when Jesus says "He is Son of Man"!

This is seen today as an esoteric interpretation. My understanding is that it (Son of Man), is referring to the Higher Soul.

@bold- you suspect not that you have the evidence.
If I should just take it, how are you sure the one correlated with Quran wasn't tampered with?
who tampered with the rest, when was the book begin to change and why do they do such thing?

Note: I don't believe the gospel you're talking about but only show you your bias mind toward the rest of the book just to support your own claim

I trust the Bounteous Qur'aan. What I've correlated between the gospel and Al-Qur'aan, I trust absolutely.

I'm not biased against the gospel. As stated, I don't know why certain subject matter found in other Scripture, or, N.T., is absent in Barnabas' gospel. It may be tampering, or, it may be copyist error, or translator interpolation, etcetera.

Al-Qur'aan, is the best support when confronted with Scripture that appears to be questionable, et cetera.

The only thing Quran said about John is that He confirmed the Word of Allah.......It didn't give the full detail of His mission.

Yes. I suspect that Barnabas' gospel was tampered with. This is why I depend on The Noble Qur'aan's guidance in matters concerning the Gospel of Barnabas.

My question is very simple, does it mean one Angel I.e Micheal the chief warrior of the host of heaven can't destroy all of them in one sec or min, why all the Angels in heaven?

I do not see the response to this incident as being combative. The intention here, as presented to my mind, is one of calm, lack of stress, peacefulness.

Lolll....you so much believed in the gospel of Barnabas SHM what gave you the assurance that the barnabas' written is the authenticated one among others gospels? Simply because it supported your fallacious claim, pure delussion!

Did the story of John the Baptist also found in Qur'an? Then you will know the source of your book.

Yahya (John The Baptiste), is mentioned in The Noble Qur'aan. If it was at any time included, in Barnabas' gospel, it may have been left out by one or more translators of the Gospel of Barnabas over the years. I cannot be certain regarding what occurred.

Explain what?

Explain:

This is to show you how confused you people are.....some we say;
*it is Judas who was crusified not Jesus
*it was the man whom they compelled to carried Jesus' cross
*Jesus was crucified but didn't die only that he was in a comma.

*now you said he was taken up by many Angels undecided undecided
Why many Angels but not one? God has to deployed all the host of Heaven just because of this Jesus how special He is to God wink whereas God was watching while John the Baptist was beheaded angry

You may see for yourself why four angels were required:

"When the soldiers with Judas drew near to the place where Jesus was, Jesus heard the approach of many people, wherefore in fear he withdrew into the house. And the eleven were sleeping. Then God, seeing the danger of his servant,"

The story of John the Baptist is not found in Barnabas'gospel.

I know according to what you've been program with.

Do you really? Please explain.

So the angels that were guardians of Mary ascended to the third heaven;, where Jesus was in the company of angels, and recounted all to him. Wherefore Jesus prayed God that he would give him power to see his mother and his disciples. Then the merciful God commanded his four favourite angels, who are Michael, Gabriel, Rafael;, and Uriel, to bear Jesus into his mother's house, and there keep watch over him for three days continually, suffering him only to be seen by them that believed in his doctrine. Chapter 219

Who are shia muslims?
What do they hold on to?
I have seen alot of arguments and debate on this forum, some claim to be sunni while their opponents said they are shia, what is sunni and what is shia when the prophet said he (salallahu tahala alaehi wasalam) left just two things for us which is the Quran and Alu-ll baet but I particularly want to know the foundation of shia.

My understanding of "I and the Father are One" is that Jesus (PBUH), is saying that He (PBUH), and God, Blessed Is HE Forevermore -- are of One Mind -- or, of the same Mind. I Understand the word 'atonement' to mean: At-One-Mind.

Neither can Jesus (PBUH), carry or die, for the sins of anyone else, because sinning is a matter that speaks of, and requires personal responsibility. See the following verse's:

Having said this, Jesus wept, saying: 'Woe to those who are servants to their flesh, for they are sure not to have any good in the other life, but only torments for their sins. Chapter 24 Gospel of Barnabas

Now tell me: who would go to speak to the Roman governor to Herod, except he first have made up his mind to whom he is going, and what he is going to do? Assuredly none. And if man does so in order to speak with man, what ought man to do in order to speak with God, and ask of him mercy for his sins, while thanking him for all that he has given him?

Now who would go to speak to Herod with his back towards him, and before him speak well of Pilate the governor, whom he hates to the death? Assuredly none. Yet no less does the man who goes to make prayer and prepares not himself. He turns his back to God and his face to Satan, and speaks well of him. For in his heart is the love of iniquity, whereof he has not repented. If one, having injured you, should with his lips say to you, "Forgive me,' and with his hands should strike you a blow, how would you forgive him? Even so shall God have mercy on those who with their lips say: "Lord, have mercy on us," and with their heart love iniquity and think on fresh sins." Chapter 36 Gospel of Barnabas

Salaam Emusan.

Emusan: Whether the video states that Jesus died or not doesn't change what Jesus came to do on Earth.

*He was the only man who has ever passed through the surface of the earth without a single sin
Adam, Naoh, Lot, Moses e.t.c committed sin in one way or the other in their life time but save Jesus.....
*He has died but still alive....no one can change that.

When Quran says Jesus fulfilled what was written in Torah and the prophets, the simple question should be what are those things written in Torah & Prophets that Jesus fulfilled?

Jesus (PBUH), was not killed or crucified. You cannot argue with Scripture:

Chapter 215*
When the soldiers with Judas drew near to the place where Jesus was, Jesus heard the approach of many people, wherefore in fear he withdrew into the house. And the eleven were sleeping. Then God, seeing the danger of his servant, commanded Gabriel;, Michael;, Rafael;, and Uriel;, his ministers, to take Jesus out of the world. The holy angels came and took Jesus out by the window that looks toward the South. They bare him and placed him in the third heaven in the company of angels blessing God for evermore. Gospel of Barnabas

Jesus fulfilled what was written in Torah and the prophets,

What Chapter and verse('s), are you referring to in this quote?

The fact is clear from reading the following discourse, that Prophet Isa [Jesus, PBUH] was neither killed nor crucified. Furthermore, is the fact that He PBUH, was raised alive, in both body and soul, and is alive still, in the heaven's. See page 182 of the following link:

Beginning on page #1, of this title Sunan Al-Nabi, there is a description of The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), that also speaks of His (PBUH) beard.

Salaam LagosShia. I posted this thread for educational/informational reasons. I was not aware of the Ismaili beliefs, until I viewed the above video. I'm not saying that I agree with what they teach, or who they follow. I'm only presenting the fact's as I find them. And, I'm also interested in everyone's input.

Salaam khattab02. Regarding the crucifixion, the lecturer is claiming that
the body of Christ Jesus (PBUH) was hung on a cross, but the soul was not killed.

This is a discourse that agrees with the crucifixion of the Prophet Jesus (PBUH) as found in the New Testament Bible.

Bismillaah ir Rahmaan ir Rahiim As salaamu alaykum. The odd thing about this is the fact that Muslim's wear the beard in every kind of length. And I've read just recently, that The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had a short beard.
