Last week, Onwuchekwa, co-founder of the Crete Collective — which starts churches in communities of color — and a pastor of Cornerstone Church in Atlanta, announced that he was stepping down from his congregation at the end of the year. His last sermon will be this Sunday (Dec. 18). Onwuchekwa and his congregation made headlines in 2020 when he and the church broke ties with the Southern Baptist Convention over what he saw as a lack of urgency in dealing with issues of race. At the time, Onwuchekwa was a rising star in the SBC, helping other Black pastors connect with the nation’s largest Protestant denomination. In 2021, he cut back to half time at the church, becoming a bivocational pastor, so he could have time to write and pursue projects outside the church. The church had grown fairly quickly to a congregation of about 400 people, which brought challenges. Onwuchekwa said his skill set fits well with being a pastor of a startup congregation — gathering people together, setting a vision and getting the church off the ground. But he felt he didn’t have the kind of administrative skills needed to pastor a larger congregation. There was a mismatch between the church’s needs and my gifts,” he said. The 24-7 realities of a pastor’s life also took their toll on the 38-year-old Onwuchekwa, who began working as a minister in his early 20s. He loved preaching and teaching, saying that “I could do that all day, every day, for free.” But what he called the “latent responsibility” of a pastor came with a heavy load. “One phone call can change everything,” he said. A turning point for Onwuchekwa came this summer, after doing the funeral for a church member who took their own life. That event rocked Onwuchekwa. He ended up taking some time away and began considering leaving the church. The 2020 pandemic and the realities of the decline of local congregations — the average church in the United States now has only about 65 people, down from 137 two decades ago — have caused a number of pastors to rethink their calling. One challenge in leaving the pastorate, said Onwuchekwa, was finding a blueprint for handling such a transition — both for himself and for the church. The church is doing well and at least from the outside, Onwuchekwa’s ministry is thriving. He’s a popular speaker and coach and has a new book out this year called “We Go On.” “If I had been pastoring for 40 years and left,” he said, “we would have had a blueprint for what to do. If I had a moral failing, our church would have had a blueprint on what to do. If I was burned out, our church would have a blueprint.”

Smith was elected as mayor of a small-town Earle on Tuesday. He defeated his opponent, Nemi Matthews, the city’s street and sanitation superintendent, by 235 votes to 185, according to local media. Jaylen Smith graduated from high school in May. Less than a year later, the 18-year-old will be tasked with governing Earle, Arkansas, as the rural city’s newly elected mayor.

Mary Peltola, a Democrat, defeated Sarah Palin, a well-known Republican, in a special House election. Ms. Palin, a household name and former Republican Party vice-presidential nominee, lost a special House election this week that will send Mary Peltola, a Democrat, to Congress until January. But she will enter a rematch with Ms. Peltola and other opponents this fall as they seek to fill Alaska’s lone congressional seat from 2023 onward. Ms. Palin failed to consolidate the support of Republican voters, contending with low approval ratings and a ranked-choice system that favored moderate candidates. The question is whether she can overcome the same challenges in the fall. Former President Donald J. Trump had endorsed Ms. Palin, 58, a former Alaska governor, but she came in second behind Ms. Peltola by a few percentage points late Wednesday after two rounds of tabulations in a new election system that allowed voters to rank their top three choices in order of preference. Ms. Peltola will now finish the term of Representative Don Young, who died in March after serving in Washington for nearly 50 years. After the results were released Wednesday, Ms. Palin appeared stunned and frustrated in a video filmed at her campaign headquarters in Anchorage. |

garyaustin:Thank you for your response. My question was not to disrespect anyone or group but just seek to know. There is this believe that non igbo can buy landed property in Igboland and sincerely I don't know any that inform my inquisitiveness. |
I am just inquisitive, i may be wrong, please I will love to be corrected, I don't know any none igbo extraction who owns property in Igbo Land. Igbos are known to have properties wherever they sojourn in the entire country but do the Igbos sale landed property for non-Igbo in Igboland to build any permanent structure, just like the Igbos do outside of their of the South East? Please if you know let us know and lecture us on this subject. |
Built2last:By God grace, I am a follower of the lord Jesus Christ, though, am not a pastor but, a very dedicated follower. The position of many of our compatriots can not be ignore, but how they are going about it will not in any way, proffer solution to what they are afraid of. Having a Muslim President and a Chattian Vice President will not in anyway, solve the fear of being dominated by Religion of the President. For 8 years, Professor Osinbajo was Vice President, what benefit did be conferred on the Christian community in Nigeria? You mentioned KADUNA incidence, was Professor Osinbajo able to stop or do anything about it or any of such incidence, the answer is NO. The fact is that the Vice President does not have the power, even to protest. I strongly believe the president and Vice should in fact be of the same faith, while the SENATE PRESIDENT and SPEAKER, HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES should be of the the same religion, but opposite of whatever the PREWSIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT. That is the only solution for the BALANCE OF POWER between the two major religion in Nigeria |
I have my reservations about the boy and the senator. Nevertheless, the information on the NIN alone can not be sacrosanct in determining the boy's age. If the plan had been in place before the boy registered with the National Population Commission, that could have answered the age on the NIN application. The procurement of a NIN is a prerequisite for acquiring Nigerian Passport. To scientifically check if the guy's age is fifteen of twenty-one, they just need one X-ray. On the contrary, if there is any evidence that the fee was paid or promised, then the boy's age does not matter in the case. It is illegal anywhere to buy or sell an organ. |
Rotimi Kukoyi’s Acceptance Letters And Decision Kukoyi has been accepted into 15 universities including Harvard University, Yale University, and Stanford University, as well as was awarded over $2 million in scholarships, per the outlet. What’s more, he’s his school’s first Black National Merit Scholar. The Alabama teen’s inspiration to apply to the prestigious universities stemmed from being previously featured on “Jeopardy!” “It was a really fun experience but also put me in contact with some pretty cool students from across the country,” Kukoyi said, according to the outlet. “A lot of them are older and they’re like seniors or juniors that applied to many prestigious schools a lot of them are attending prestigious universities now. So that was kind of my original inspiration to apply to those universities.” Kukoyi has made the decision to attend UNC-Chapel Hill, which he aims to propel him into a career in public health. Supporting Underrepresented Minorities The Nigerian-American student wants to help fellow students dream as big as he did regarding applying to schools. To aid in the financial barriers that minority students face when preparing for college, Kukoyi was a part of setting up free tutoring “for those in need of more academic support or resources, and for those seeking to take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.” “… I feel like a lot of the disparities that we see with standardized testing are because these underrepresented minorities in low income communities often can’t afford the same levels of [test preparation] that their wealthier counterparts get,” he said. “So by establishing free tutoring programs, that could kind of help to equalize the playing field.”

I reside in the US, in the Medical field, you need more than what guys are saying here to succeed. Plan properly and ask proper questions from your girl, and know what drives her. You need to know her takes on African culture, her redlines and have it in mind that you might not be able to practice as a medical doctor here (The probability is very low, but not impossible) Forget about the impression that women have sole prerogative to eject their spouse, the right is for both male and female. If she earns more than you, she might be the one paying you child support if the need arises. Contact me for more details. Wishing you the best |
Gentlemen of the press, considering the mood of the state and continuous ban on political meetings and the fact that INEC has given its nod for electronic campaign, we hereby present to the public the long awaited report of the Ondo APC Unity Forum concerning its governorship aspirant for the 2020 governorship election in Ondo state, as presented by the Gubernatorial Candidate Selection Committee. The Unity Forum, by the content of the report has adopted *Chief Olusola Oke, SAN* as the candidate of the Forum. All the leaders and members of the Unity Forum are hereby enjoined to begin mobilisation across the state for the candidate of the forum. *REPORT OF 7-MAN GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE SELECTION COMMITTEE FOR UNITY FORUM* During the meeting of the Aspirants on March 23, 2020, a unanimous decision was taken by all the Aspirants that the 7-man Gubernatorial Candidate Selection Committee should come up with a candidate to represent the Unity Forum in the Ondo State 2020 General election. This is due in part to the failure of the Aspirants to reach a consensus on a person to represent them as a candidate. In taking this unanimous decision, all the ten (10) Aspirants (1) Dr Segun Abraham (2) Barrister Olarewaju Kazeem (3) Barrister Bukola Adetula (4) Prince Dapo Adelegan (5) Mr Adelami Olayide Owolabi (6) Mr Akintunde Akinsewa Awodeyi (7) Barrister Mrs Jumoke Anifowose ( Chief Olusola Oke(9) Engr Ife Oyedele (10)Prince Jimmy Odimayo agreed to accept the candidate recommended by the Committee. However, one of the Aspirants insisted that he must be convinced that the process would be credible. Consequently, on March 24, 2020, six members of the committee met and one was unavoidably absent. They debated on the issue of presenting a candidate in line with the Committee's terms of reference and the concurrence of the aspirants. As a result, four of the six members opted for Chief Olusola Oke SAN, one opted for a technocrat whose identity was not disclosed and one opted for a female Aspirant. We thank the leader of Unity Forum H.E. Alhaji Alli Olanusi and the members of the forum for giving us the opportunity to serve in this challenging task of selecting a candidate for the forum. Senator Yele Omogunwa. Chairman Prof Sola Ehindero. Secretary Members Elder Mike Adeyeye. Hon Afe Olowookere. Ajiroba Boye Adegbemisoye. HE Olukemi A Iyantan (Mrs). Prince Solagbade Amodeni. Thank you. H.E. Alhaji Ali Olanusi Former Deputy Governor of Ondo state. |
My mother was everything put together, though my father was alive, while I was growing, but he was never there for us. I never knew we were poor because everybody around us was the same. Easting rice was not commonplace in our house, at least we eat rice four times a year. Despite doing well in my academic work, I couldn't move passed ND. Whatever I was doing, I believed I could do better, I once applied to a job that required a bachelor degree, and I was picked ahead of those with a bachelor degree. I procured a fake bachelor degree, and I went through several stages of both written and oral interviews and eventually got the job. One guy who knew I had only ND, threatened to expose me when he couldn’t go beyond the second stage of the interview. I begged him and I was settling him regularly. But I knew that would not last forever, I safe and used the opportunity the job offered and moved to the US. Am not rich now, but I know I have escaped the poverty shackles. I am currently working on my PhD |
The disgraceful collaboration between the ruling APC of Ondo State and Zenith Labour Party led by ex Governor Olusegun MIMIKO has perfected everything to win the plan house of Assembly election slated for tomorrow. The verified source confirmed that the sum of 350,000 (Three Hundred and fifty Thousand Naira) has been set aside for each of the 307 units in Ondo East and West. Both parties lost same Federal constituencies to relatively new ADC in the last Nation Assembly election held two weeks ago. Our source equally informed us that, the alliance has equally put in place enough boys to intimidate voters to either vote for their preferred candidates or get maimed. This was the same method employed by PDP led by same Olusegun MIMIKO in the 2015 state house of Assembly after loosing to the then opposition party the APC in the presidential election to come back and won 21 of the 26 house of Assembly.Attention of the security gency should be paid to this treat. |
