Lol @ oyinbo sense of judging distance. No p would holla when I get there. You can also look up the distance on google maps yourself using the postcode of the school and accommodation, then click walking distance to show you how many minutes walk it is.

Google student accommodation in Aberdeen and you are good to go. check for rooms in house share. Like justwise said arrange for a viewing to confirm current state of house.

Donxavier: This is quite cheap. But what bills are inclusive? I'm guessing maybe only electricity to be this cheap.

justwise is right, the apartment'm hoping I would get is £300 and its all bills inclusive (light, water, electricity and internet) and its ensuite. I saw other apartments within same price range but just that you share bathrooms. justwise is so right on this.

My friend did. He said he wrote a check and they confirmed receipt. But they said something like its gonna be with insurance or so. I believe I would like the place tho would find out by September 12th.

justwise: The prob with group tenancy agreement is....if one person moves out then the rest will have to pay for the empty room, but if its individual then the landlord will have to look for somebody to take up the room.

didn't think of this, thanks for pointing it out. Those going for private accommodation pls take note. I also learnt it is better to take accommodation with bills inclusive rather than paying bills every month.

I took a risk by making a deposit of 200 pounds(50k) to secure the accommodation I wanted based on a friends recommendation, but if eventually I do not like the apartment then I have to forfeit my money. That's not the kind of risk I would want to take another time, but we keep learning

I would send you some website where you could search for apartment and arrange for viewing when you get to Sheffield. I would also try to view done apartment when I get there, but remember taste differs and no contracts or financial commitment except you are willing to bear the consequences if any

I would be going private bro, but ve been speaking with a landlord in Sheffield and would meet him for viewing when I get there so if 'm okay with it I would sign up the contract.

I would keep you posted which ever way it goes, but it would be cool if you could actually team up with someone to get an apartment. Lots of private apartment are actually available for rent within walking distance from school and done even prefer renting it to a group of students as opposed to individuals.

I think you are talking about 2 different schools. They are going to Sheffield Hallam university while you(we) are going to the university of Sheffield. I got the mail too from university of Sheffield and 'm also confused, so much info is required.

Hi, my name is Marvelous. Am from Lagos, Nigeria. I had been studying in England since 2008 from which I obtained a Diploma in Business, which I then used to gain direct entry into 2nd year undergraduate course (BA (HONS) Business Administration) at a London University. Furthermore, I took a year off from study last year September 2011 after completing my 2nd year of study due to the death of my grandma and family reasons. Thus, my student visa expired last year October, 2011. But am ready to come back to my complete my final year studies and have received my CAS letter after paying £4000 to the University from which my university tuition fee cost£9000. However, I have a problem with my father's/sponsor's bank statement which I need to show proof of funds for my studies. My dad has funds available but the funds hasn't been there for the minimum of 28 days and my course starts on 17 September 2012. Am out of time and need to apply for a student visa. Please I need your advice.
