ikcbn: Tanx darkchild bt i still need 2 knw if U̶̲̥̅̊ made d̶̲̥̅̊ online payment of £1000 so ϑaτ̅ ϑε̲γ̲ could start processing Your CAS or U̶̲̥̅̊ jst did d̶̲̥̅̊ transfer and it also covered d̶̲̥̅̊ £1000?yeah bro, my tuition is £20,000, I paid 60% of that which was £12,000 and I would balance up when I get to school. The £1k is the minimum you can pay so you on track bro. Pay the 6k if that's what you wanna pay and u would balance up later whatever you pay would be reflected on your CAS. Remember the balance should be in your account with your maintenance fee tho. |
ikcbn: Darkchild, plz i jst want 2 confirm sth frm cos U̶̲̥̅̊ said sth abt also going 2 sheffield,hw did U̶̲̥̅̊ make Your tuition payment if U̶̲̥̅̊ have? I wanted 2 make a deposit of like £5k bt d̶̲̥̅̊ online payment i§ kinda fixed on £1k so i can't. I want 2 do dis so ϑaτ̅ d̶̲̥̅̊ money in my Acc ϑaτ̅ i have already counted some days on could b enuf 4 d̶̲̥̅̊ balance ϑaτ̅ i need. Paying in this money into d̶̲̥̅̊ acc would make me start afresh 2 count and i don't have enuf time.I used bank transfer. Just go to your bank and tell them you want to pay an international school fees. Ask for form 1. You can do this tomorrow. Go with a photocopy of your admission letter. It took like 3 days for the university to acknowledge payment. Once you pay, send a mail to the tuition department and the Nigerian representative and tell them its urgent for your visa application. They would keep you posted. |
kdavis: Hi Justwise, dharkchild, and every other blessed person on this thread;God has really given U all wisdom ,resilience and patience to attend to people, may God attend to ur own needs in Jesus' name (Amen). I am a little bit nervous because I am submitting my app tomorrow. What I intend to submit is justwise: As long as the CAS number has been entered in the form you don't need to submit the CAS letter.U are fine and justwise is right, but I would still advice u go with a print of your CAS. my CAS clearly started that there was no need to submit as the information is meant just for filling my application and a copy of the CAS had been sent to the embassy. On getting to lekki VFS the attendant insisted I printed out my CAS to be submitted with other documents, I argued that it was not required but he just insisted in a rude but polite manner. Had to pay N1000 to print 2 pages there something I could have done free our N20 at home. It wouldn't cost anything, just take it along. |
g2db2do: tot its 28 WORKING daysIts days and not working days |
seannopo: i will also like to know if weekends are counted in the 28 days period.Yes. |
donbigboy: Well, i'm not under 18 year old.Good, then you don't need to fill that section, read the instructions on part 2 again |
kdavis: I was able to get some answers after reading most of the thread but not all. The bank said they will issue me a letter of reference is this ok? so I am using my bank statement for my application, should I fill self or my father as my sponsor in d app form, thanks.A letter of reference is ok, just an additional prove that the account is yours. If the money is in your account, u don't need to fill anything about a sponsor. Which section of the form are you confused with? |
donbigboy: Pls, ladies and gentleman of the Almighty nairaland I want to submit my application at the embassy next week having gotten all my document but I am yet secure an accomodation for my studies in the uk. Pls what should i filled in the colume on tier 4 general student form 2.9 which says one should provide an address of an accomodation in ukAre you under 18? |
kennyGGG: I am surprised to read this. Please are you saying the bank will divulge the current balance in your account to embassy after printing out statement or what do you mean bywhat I know is that embassy has a right to verify the information provided by applicant are true and they do it in a legal manner. |
ikcbn: Tanx a lot Darkchild, A̶̲̥̅♏ already on it, would b applying ASAP. Will definitely get back 2 U̶̲̥̅̊ if A̶̲̥̅♏ successsful since U̶̲̥̅̊ said sth abt also going 2 sheffield. Thanx once again, i really appreciateGod speed mate. hope to hear good news from you soonest. Cheers |
honey86: I got my visa today, finally!!!!!. I submitted on the 4th of July, received the message that my processed application is ready for collection on the 27th of July. Who else is going to ManchesterCongrats. |
jantil: I nd ur views on the ff issues, my school is Greenwich university, tuitn fee is 9650,thr pre registratn deposit is 3k pound, uh I av paid last week. I av depositd 7200(maintenance fee due to d fact dt greenwich is outside inner london)+6650(bal of tuition fee) in my personal acct 4 more than a month. Pls what is my chance of getting a Visa. I look forward to ur views on ds issue. Thks kip up d gud work. One luv.....from your description you are on track. Apply with all necessary documents and be hopeful. At no time within the 28 days or during the visa processing time should your account fall below the required balance (maintanance + schoolfees balance) irrespective of the exchange rate |
ikcbn: Hi Justwise and tanx for the good work U re doing on Nairaland for us. I have read through the forum although not all cause it's pretty much.Do you have the maintenance money and your school fees balance in your account or your sponsor's account (father or mother) already for over 28 days or u just want to move it there. If you have the money already in the account for over 28 days, then you would have no problem. Pay the deposit, University of Sheffield would send you your CAS in a maximum of 3 working days, and you can apply for your visa on thursday or friday next week. If you dont have the money already... you gonna be racing with time as you would need to lodge the money for 28 days from today or monday. Visa processing time is 15 working days, that's 3weeks, it can be earlier but never bank on that. If you put the money in your account on monday 6th August, 28 days would be 3rd of Sept. you could apply on the 4th and 15 working days would be 26th which is past resumption already. Also if you have just the maintenance money in your account or your sponsor (father or mother) for over 28 days already, you can go ahead to pay your whole schoolfees and apply sometimes next week to speed up the process as this would save you a lot of time. Do the maths and best of luck PS. I tot school resumes on 17th (Intro week) and lectures start on the 24th cos i should be going to Sheffield too. You could also write the school and ask for a two weeks late resumption period. (learnt that from this forum) |
Donxavier: . Excluding the bank statement right? What about the Oanda Conversion rate print out? And how many copiesU submit the original copy of the bank statement, no copies required. The oanda conversion rate, just a copy. |
Donxavier: Guys who have submitted, what documents require photocopy?Any original certificate you are submitting. Bsc, Msc, waec, birth cert etc and a copy of the info page of your passport. |
kdavis: Una well done o,I dey grit.* I want to get a letter from my bank to support my visa application;is it necessary ,where should the bank address it to and what and what should appear on the letter? * I intend on submitting my A/C statement and bank letter as proof of maintenance;is this ok or will the embassy want to know my source of funds. *When filling the form should I put my name or my dad's name as my sponsor? ThanksJust read from page 1 of part 2 only, all your answers are there. If you have any further question, feel free to ask. Also read the tier4 migrant guidance from the UKBA website. Cheers |
tissot84: Yes canada and Us ask for proof of English and u can use ur ssce for it but Uk u need to write an exam Not true |
I trend to see things from a lil diff perspective tho. The primary focus of studying abroad (USA, UK, Canada) is the quality standard of education "knowledge". If the quality of education in Nigeria was good then most of us would not even go out in the first case. If we all unanimously agree that the quality of eduction in the UK is of high standard as that seems to be like their only export commodity, then I see no reason why one shouldn't study there of u can afford it. Success is not location dependent but the application of an acquired knowledge. We are going to learn and not running away. If an opportunity presents itself after studies, take it hence create it or come home and apply that you have learnt. |
bolame: Which kin testimony..na how many people done travel out thru your yeye adviceEasy |
coogar: pay your deposit asap - you have nothing to worry about. you're dealing with an agent who must have an office, phone number and people you can speak to verify the authenticity of the property you intend to rent. your £200 holds that apartment until you arrive and trust me, your problems in the uk are 95% solved if you have a roof over your head. Thanks for the care, I have been speaking with the agent, got their office name and address and principal partners too. I just had another friend check the apartment for me in company of the agent this morning and his feedback was positive too. I would go ahead and pay the deposit to secure the apartment and would sign the contract once I get to Sheffield in person. @justwise and coogar thanks Alot. |
justwise: Then you can go ahead and apply for visa since you have all the money for 28days, time is not really on your side. Paying the fees now and waiting for the CAS to be reissued before applying for visa may eat-up your time.He has all the maintenance money and not all the money including his school fees. It would be faster if he pays and gets his CAS updated rather than waiting for another 28 days. He wouldn't be issued another CAS, his CAS details would only be updated with the embassy and on his portal to reflect the new payment |
ogheneyoma: pls i need more info on this.....i started counting my 28 days from 4days ago (dis includes fees for both my tuition nd maintenance), and it matures by end of august. however, i have maintained a minimum balance of 3million since on d 9th of july, which is more dan enuf to cover my maintenance fee of 7200 pounds. But, if i intend to add my tuition fees(16500) to it which i just paid into my account four days bak,, den i ll have to wait till late august cos that is wen it will mature. So i intend paying my skul fees of 16500 pounds from it so that i can apply for visa by 10th august, becos since on d 9th of july, my account balance has not gfIf you have an unconditional offer then you can pay all your tuition to your school. When any payment is made, your CAS is updated within about three working days to reflect your payment. Mail your school telling them you want payment to be reflected on your CAS and they would get back to you. You shouldn't have a problem as long a the payment is reflected on CAS before application and your account balance can cater for your maintenance fee. |
A-ZeD:Thanks |
@justwise, what's a landing card ![]() |
justwise: Its not a good idea to pay for something you have not seen physically especially student accommodation, you got no clue when that picture was taken, for you to sign tenancy agreement you need to see the condition of the room, the landlord will see your passport and visa and sometimes a guarantor and make photocopy of them, the tenancy agreement is the only thing that protects your deposit.@justwise thanks. Would mail them and hope they reserve the apartment while I keep looking at other options incase they don't. Was just convinced Cos a friend went there to check for me. Advice much appreciated |
Respect to all the bosses in the house, u guys have answered most of my questions already and it was fun reading peoples experience and advice here. Hopefully, I would be coming to the UK in sept, University of Sheffield to be specific for my masters degree. From personal research, this thread and other UK threads on Nairaland, ve been able to find out that staying in private property is cheaper than staying in school accommodation. Ensuite room in school accommodation would cost me about £112.50pw but after looking through some property sites online, I was able to get a private property (ensuite room in a shared apartment but kitchen shared) with all bills inclusive about 10 mins walk or 3 mins drive from school for £75pw. I made some findings about the property agents to confirm that it was not scam (just had to double check) and I also had a friend in Birmingham check out the apartment for me and sent me pictures which I was okay with. The agent sent me a contract document which I am okay with but have to sign and scan to them. The challenge now is that I have to pay a deposit of £200 to secure the apartment and the rent can be paid when I arrive in Sheffield. The deposit is the only way to secure the apartment and I am willing to pay but I still kinda sceptical. Do you think it is advisable to go ahead and sign the contact and payment of the deposit considering the fact that I was ok with the internet pictures and the pictures my friend took. I really would not like to lose the apartment Cos it is ensuite and all bills are inclusive as most other apartment ve seen are not ensuite and I kinda like a lil privacy, I also think most apartment close to school might have been taken before resumption. PS those looking for student apartments just google "student apartment in your area" like student apartment in Birmingham or Aberdeen etc....... Take your time to go through the search result, limit your search to what you want.... like room in House share....., studio......, bills inclusive etc. when you see any property you like, you can use google maps to check the proximity of the property to your school by entering the postcode of your school and the apartment you are considering. Hope this helps someone. Cheers |
Olupraise: Good afternoon oga justwise and the whole house,Scheduling an appointment online gives you an advantage as you would be given a preferential treatment because of the appointment. U also don't need to rush there but get there just about 30 mins before your appointment. Booking an appointment is free...loll... The online firm is dames your paper form and you don't need to full it online. According to the UKBA website you choose either to fill online our fill the hard copy form. If you decide to opt for the online form, then you have to print out your completed online form and won't need to fill the hardcopy again. PS. I think the self assessment form does not have an online copy so that would be filled manually and submitted alongside the online printout. |
I joined Nairaland today basically because of this thread and i would like to say a big Thank you to Justwise and all who have created time out of their busy schedules to help others, you guys are doing a great job. Just a piece of advice to most of us, lets take out some time to do a little research by reading most of what has been posted from page one of this thread till now and we would see that most of our questions have already been answered. I filled my visa application form based on the advice i got from this thread while reading all the pages from the first thread till now and i had absolutely no problem with filing it and the documents involved. I submitted today and now waiting to hear from the embassy. Thanks to all who has contributed to this thread, Cheers |
