The sound of automatic gunfire could heard Wednesday in the town, which has been abandoned by residents after a barrage of air strikes by Chad in the run-up to its offensive, an AFP journalist reported.While the operation in Gamboru continued, the town of Fotokol on the other side of the border, in Cameroon, came under fresh attack from the jihadists.

"The guys [Boko Haram] entered this morning. The fighting between them and our soldiers is very intense," a Cameroonian security source in Fotokol told AFP by telephone.The Cameroonian troops had managed to repel the attack by mid-morning, after Chadian soldiers crossed back from Nigeria to help defend the town.

No "tactical retreats" and such from Chad.

It's not paperwork that wins wars. And as matters stand currently, nigeria have been nothing but cowards. They even gave up their country's sovereignty to chad...and to Boko haram of course.

The MNJTF has been operating in the border region with their headquarters in Baga. MNJTF AOR is the border area of both Nigeria, chad, Niger and most recently cameroun.
Gambrou is right on the border with cameroun, and in the AOR of the MNJTF which the Nigerian military leads.
While the military is pushing the insurgents from inside Nigeria, the MNJTF is also straffing them off in there AOR.
It is simple logic for any person with half a brain to understand.

Border or not, this is Nigerian territory. Therefore, Chad was operating in Nigerian territory. This is the point of the story, which is just undeniable. Who leads what is irrelevant and it goes without saying that Nigeria must nurse its baby, which is the effort against BH; and must lead. South of Beit Bridge is South African territory. Not Zimbabwean. Likewise with Gambrou. It's Nigerian territory.

This looks even worse the more one looks at it actually, actually! This is not even Nigeria's border with Chad. It's Nigeria's border with Cameroon, per your own post. So now, Chad, which has zero to do with Gambrou is doing work that Nigeria should be doing.

Chadian jet fighters had also bombed Gamboru before its troops entered.

Chadian aircraft have struck Boko Haram positions in the Nigerian border town of Gamboru for a second straight day.

Two military choppers pounded targets in Gamboru for about two hours on Sunday, setting off loud explosions and sending thick clouds of smoke into the sky, an Agence France-Presse reporter said from the town of Fotokol about 500 metres away.

The town in far northeastern Nigeria, on the border with Cameroon, was already strafed by two Chadian fighter jets on Saturday.
