If Maresca was not an instant hit, and was losing 1 game and drawing 2 for every 3 and 4 respectively, we would all have been saying he's bedding in, considering only Championship experience, but he needs to pick up the pace asap.

Go look at the expectations of all football pundits after Maresca was hired. Every single one of them expected Chelsea to finish worse than Poch.

So where's all that expectation gone? I know where. Maresca came in and won 10 on a bounce, finishing top of the league in ECL with exceptional performances and squad management. And now, naturally, expectations have adjusted accordingly.

For that reason, it is unfair to him to say it is inconsequential that we rose to 2nd. It is the most consequential thing. It shows that with a few very good decisions, he can get even more out of the team.

As a matter of fact, Maresca has been so good, everyone expected us to take full 3 points against Everton and climb into 1st place, until Liverpool. Do you understand the magnitude of that achievement in only 6 months?

Instead of bashing him, we should be helping him to find out what's gone wrong, the reason for this slump, and how we can help him get back to this winning ways.

How do we help him figure out what’s gone wrong when he’s clearly sticking with The Chronic Gambler to build his confidence and team synergy?

Honestly, I think Maresca is being stubborn and arrogant, and that’s why he’s in this slump. If he doesn’t change his approach and remove The Chronic Gambler as our number one keeper, we’re only going to end up in a worse situation... unless, of course, he gets sacked before that happens.

Every game, The Chronic Gambler gives away a free goal! In fact, I can see him and his buddies retiring early from any active employment to enjoy their winnings at our expense.

By the way, this would be a good time for you to suggest another solution that could help Maresca, especially since you both share the same view on Sanchez.

In an unprecedented, and unexpected rate of performance, he took us to 2nd on the table at some point. Not a single Chelsea fan said before hand that Maresca was even remotely capable of doing this. The reason y'all are angry now is because you have seen what he can do, and now you expect more. That means he restored confidence and expectation. And this is one of the many things he's done to deserve being left alone.

Re:GK, the tactical advantage is with the way he plays out of the back. Maresca expects his GK to become a fourth man in defence, for increased passing lanes and choices. The resultant effect, is allowing two midfielders to take up far advanced positions in 8s, the two wingers pining opposition FBs, tactically shaping up to be in isolated inverted positions, no 9 coming deep into midfield to aid a channel of receiving passes from same GK and/or CB, and finally, allowing one of our full backs to invert into midfield, in a bid to overloading the midfield with 5 players.

It all starts from the GK being a ball-playing one. I appreciate that not everyone sees this tactical nuance but it's there. And that's why he does what he does. It's just unfortunate that Chronic Gambler is the best of all the ball-playing GKs we have.

The point is that it's not a thoughtless move by Maresca.
