Are you applying for some kind of sponsorship ?
Education / Re: Educational System of Nigeria is Killing the Craftmen by Digiman(m): 9:24pm On Mar 18, 2007
obong:

We need trade schools, but Nigeria is hardly spoiled with an abundance of universities to be complaining already.

Technical colleges and Poly's need to get their acts together and start traing plumber, builders electricans auto mechanices e.t.c because in a few years time the demand for these tradesmen will outstrip supply then these tradesmen will be able to charge exhorbitant fees.

Here in the UK plumbers and electrians make a lot of money because of the shotage of skilled trademen, we are now begining to see people quit white collar jobs to learn trades because of the money they can make and also the job security they provide.

If you find yourself unemployed after your university education why not lean a trade, that way you can become self employed instead of wasting time with "I beg to apply" letters.

Please do the right thing, study and then take the exams.
Off course you can opt to read the brain dumps and pass the exam but what does that make you ?, certainly not a CISCO engineer.

Back to the topic. If according to Malachi the prophet, God has promised us more blessings than we can have room to contain, if we pay our tithes and offerings. I consider this a law and the blessings which accrue to it are blessings of the law.

Malachi was talking to the Jews, tithing was only relevant to them at that point in time, Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law , our salvation is not by good works, it is by grace.

Come to think of it how may tithing christains do you know who have been blessed so much that they do not have room to contain it ?

You are in the UK right ?, look around you see the number of magnificient mosques and temples being built by moslems, hindus e.t.c, then look at what we christains have as places of worship, surely if the congregations were being blessed as promised they would be able to afford to purchase their places of worship.

God is not a liar, its the preachers who have taken the above verse and quoted it out of context that are making God look like a liar. shocked
Autos / Re: Good Example Of Stability Control by Digiman(m): 9:47pm On Mar 07, 2007
Hunter:

Found a good example of a video of stability control being demonstrated and what it means for car safety. Thankfully though its not some scientist guy explaining it but a member of the holden precision racing team, so it show how it can control a slide (and then how the slide goes without it turned on)

Too many driving aid are available nowadays, personally I think they make driving boring, any purist will tell you that !. Learn car control, let your car comminucate with you.
The guy testing it summed it up, he perfer's it off ! grin
Career / Re: Online Cisco Networking Professional Training (Skills-Train.co.uk) Possible? by Digiman(m): 11:10pm On Feb 27, 2007
It beaks my heart to see you guys being ripped off by these companies.

For anyone interested in CISCO certification I would recommend self study but you will have to be dedicated and disciplined.

Heres how to go about it get you study guides for this I would recommend the CCNA study guide published by Sybex http://www.sybex.com/WileyCDA/SybexTitle/productCd-0782143911.html + any other CCNA study guide you can lay your hand on
You will also need to get your hands on some router simulator software - http://routersimulator.certexams.com/ (much cheaper than buying your own routers and switches)

Then finalyy for exam practice tests I would recommend using Transcender tests http://www.transcender.com/gen.aspx?pf=page&sn=TraTrackLPCCNA

I did my CCNA over 5 years ago without paying for any training courses, I simply bought books , two 2nd hand CISCO 2600 series routers and exam testing software and was able to ace the exam at my first sitting. wink
Religion / Re: Why Are Some Christians Poor? by Digiman(m): 9:07pm On Feb 26, 2007
favour N:

if u are a true christian is not your portion to be poor.
go 4 deliverance, read malachai 3,payur tithe nlook on GOd of righteousnees

By referring to Malachi I assume you mean the famous argument preachers give for thithing:
"
Robbing God
6 "I the LORD do not change. So you, O descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed. 7 Ever since the time of your forefathers you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you," says the LORD Almighty.
"But you ask, 'How are we to return?'

8 "Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me.
"But you ask, 'How do we rob you?'
"In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it."

Do you know this was referring to the Levites ?, secondly in this day an age is anyone except a Levite authorised to collect tithes?

I have been a christian for over 20 years, I have been in meetings where after preaching on tithing there is an alter call for all those in financial hardship/debt to come out and be prayed for, guess what , almost 90% of the church members step forward, the majority have I have known to be christains for over 10 years , are you trying to say they do not  tithe ?

Am I saying God is a liar - No, its people who use this extract from Malachi who are lying !

This is the promise:

"Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it."

How many tithing christians do you know that are so blessed that their blessings a over flowing ?
Politics / Nigeria Cracks Down On Migrants by Digiman(m): 7:13pm On Feb 23, 2007
My question is why was this not done before the census was carried out , if these people were around when the census exercise was carried out then the figures must be way out.

Politicians are accused of importing "ghost voters" ahead of April polls.

"The truth is that it is because of the elections," an immigration official who did not want to be named told the BBC News website.

Religion / Re: Why Are Some Christians Poor? by Digiman(m): 9:11pm On Feb 22, 2007
You have a point there, a lot of christians pray, fast, give tithes and offerings but still struggle financially, they believe and confess Gods promises daily yet it is not manifested in their lives on the other hand non believeres seem to be prospering around them. - Maybe its because they ask amiss
Car Talk / Re: Abuja Car Race by Digiman(m): 12:39pm On Feb 11, 2007
Rather than trying to organise a full blown race, why not start a car club, get people with similar interests to join then organise track days were owners/club members can drive their cars on a race course. To organise a track day you need a suitable venue, it could be a disused airfield or even somewhere large enough to allow you to design a circuit, it does not have to be tarred but most of it should be reasonably level, use traffice cones or even tyres to mark the boundries of the track.

You also need to organise emergency services (ambulance / first aid, fire e.t.c) because there are bound to be accidents .

As regards the cars and the drivers please ensure that not just anybody is allowed, you need to ensure that the cars entered for the track day are in good shape and also the drivers have some level of skill otherwise there will be a ot of tears afterwards.

Finally and most importantly you'll have to ensue that the drivers/cars are insured and you the organisersare covered just in case some smart arse decides to sue you (a way round is is to get each participant to sign a document stating that they and not you will be responsible for what ever happens at the event).

Track days are good fun, you get the chance to drive you car to the limit and learn car controil and handling abilities.

Good luck in your venture, if it takes off who know I might attened one day.

Career / Re: Joining The Military: Solution To Unemployment? by Digiman(m): 11:54pm On Feb 06, 2007
Well sort of, you'll get free accomodation, free uniform as long as you are prepared to undergo the training (and transformation from a civvie , otherwise known as "bloody civillian" into a fighting machine) , and also be prepared to go on postings.

At what level do you intend to join NCO or Commisioned officer ?

Romance / Re: Are Virgins Still Respected? by Digiman(m): 10:04pm On Feb 01, 2007
I would respect any man or woman who is still a virgin because I believe it's the most precious gift you can present to your spouse on you wedding night.

Before you start to call me old fashioned and shout me down please hear me out, being a virgin at marriage is not a guarantee that you marriage will be trouble free so don't use it as a yardstick, but it will show you partner that you have not been "doing the rounds".

Here are some excuses people give for loosing their virginity

1. people will think I am prude !
2. Everyone else is doing it (having sex)
3. I want to prove to my boyfriend/girlfriend that I love him/her
4. I want to have fun before I get married
5. I want to test drive before I buy,

plus lots more, it's all rubbish, to me it just shows the person is not strong willed, possibly promiscuous as well as being prone to succumbing to peer pressure.

Most men who have been around secretly want to marry a lady who's managed to keep her legs crossed cos nobody wants to end up with a "hospital blanket" so to say, so ladies watch out.

And to those who say they would rather marry someone who's already got sexual experience rather than a virgin, my question to you is - would you rather marry an alley cat/dog that has done the rounds ?.

A word of advice, I have come across a number of people who wasted their youth jumping in and out of bed with anyone who so much as looks at them then when they suddenly realize that everyone they know is married and settled they desperately start looking for mates sometimes settling for marriages of convenience.
I know a couple of ladies who have ended marrying old divorced men just because no one wants them.

So to the Ladies on the forum who have managed to remain intact I say Well done to you ! smiley.
Travel / Re: Your First Day On A Plane by Digiman(m): 12:33am On Jan 25, 2007
I don't memember much of my fist flight I was 6 or 7 back then, it was a 6 or 7 hour night flight from London to Lagos so I sept most of the time I do remember that when I woke up I there was a wet patch on my seat I must have pissed myself in my sleep grin, any way I also remember we stopped over in Ghana and I remember someone came on board with an oversized bucket and went to the back of the plane , then on his way back he passed me and there was this horribble stench , no prizes for guessing what was in the bucket , I must add those were the days when BA used to be known as BOAC, I'm showing my age here wink.

Anyway I have lost count of the number of flights since then but I love flying so much I have decided to get my PPL (Private Pilots license), I just need to find the time and 5K
Properties / Re: How To Be A Home Owner In United Kingdom by Digiman(m): 11:46pm On Jan 24, 2007
Sorry  I forgot to  mention that  for Buy to let you need to find and put down 10%-15%  of the purchase price
If its a residential mortgage 0% - 5% of the purchase price  although I have see slightly hoger being asked.

For remortgages you may be able to remortgage as early as 12 months after taking out the mortgage it all depends on the type of mortgage  and the package, usually you can only remotgage up to a certain amount for instance if you purchased the property to 100k then 1 year later you want to remortgage  the lender will have to survey it to determine the market value if its say 110k you may be able to borrow 50-70k (if its a buy to let property  the rental income will be taken into consideration) it all sounds good but do not make the mistake of borrowing to the hilt as you'll still have to pay it back, you want your rental income to be able to cover the mortgage payments.

A very good way to keep your morgage low if to take out an intrest only mortgage but just make sure you sell it of  in 5-10 years time.
Properties / Re: How To Be A Home Owner In United Kingdom by Digiman(m): 11:36pm On Jan 24, 2007
If you  are looking to purchase a property in the UK but your are non resident you will find it diffcult getting a mortgage you'll have to put cash down. One way round it is to partner with someone you trust (and know very well)  split the cost 50-50 you bring cash and the other party takes out a mortgage for their share of the remainder.

In terms of good places to buy London would have been ideal but the prices are stupidly high, my advice is to steer clear of London unless you are buying a new build (off plan) and / or with huge discounts or incentives, instead of London try Kent - Dartford, Luton , Stevenage e.t.c houses are much cheaper just make sure its in an area where there is a demand (schools, transport links e.t.c).

If you are feeling adventurous you  can widen your search and move further up North where properties are much cheaper although rental income may not be fantastic.

Buy to Let is a medium to long term investment so be ready to have your money tied up while your investment increases in value, as an investor I tend not to buy in London because I believe London properties have hit the ceiling whereas in other areas they are still rising.

For those looking to get on the property ladder but cannot afford prices in London I would suggest purchasing a buy to let property up north within you means, let it out for a few years  and then re mortgage to raise more capital hopefully  you'll be able to purchase something closer to home in a few years time,
