Internet has been a veritable tool in our day to day activities with most users accessing the internet with their mobile devices for different purposes such as work, research, for communication and other uses. The increase in the use of internet has brought about citizens of nations getting vital information about what goes on both in their country and other parts of the world. There have been cases of some countries denying or limiting it citizen access to internet for one reason or the other such as in Algeria where there was internet shutdown to stop students from cheating during exams. In light of this, the United Nations Human Rights Council has passed a non-binding resolution against countries that deliberately limit their citizen’s internet access. The resolution was opposed by countries such as China, Russia and Saudi Arabia government. The resolution document has a specific content that seem not to go down well with opposing countries and it states: Condemns unequivocally measures to intentionally prevent or disrupt access to or dissemination of information online in violation of international human rights and calls on all States to refrain from and cease such measure. engrhorla:No dulling...Since Google is planning to manufacture it's own smartphone |
Google is reportedly working towards making its own smartphones. The company whose operating system is widely used and has over the years partnered with phone manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola and Huawei to make its Nexus devices is likely going to put an end with third party affiliation by making its own devices. This is long overdue, as Google has relied on these party partnerships in growing its Android platform including designing smartphones that will be compatible with the Daydream Google’s VR. Should Google manufacture its own hardware, this will guarantee a steady supply of devices that are always up to date and running unadulterated software. Earlier this year, under the supervision of former Motorola President Rick Osterloh who is heading the new hardware division, there were rumours that Google had merged all its hardware efforts. Google CEO, Sundar Pichai, said last month that Google was “investing more effort” into phones, clarifying that the company would continue to support the Google-backed Nexus smartphones, which are expected to continue this year with handsets made by HTC. Samsung is one of the users of Google’s Android operating system on its devices and we recently updated you of Google’s plan to roll out its own smartphone. With this, there is a clear indication that Google may no longer need third party companies to produce its Nexus phone and major focus will be on Google smartphone for secured and authentic software. Samsung seem to be working hard on running its devices on its Tizen OS with news that it has started the production of its first Tizen powered device Z2. The Samsung Z2 is said to be on production in India as Samsung has imported components to its Noida assembly plant that will help fast track the production of the Z2 smartphone. There is no news of what the specs of the Samsung Z2 will be for now but the Z2 variant carrying model number SM-Z200F has received Bluetooth certification in the United States. Social networking platforms have been a way by which we connect with friends, locate lost contacts, make new friends and share our opinion on issues that concerns us from every part of the world. While creating an account on any social media platform we often fill a form requesting a few details of you which invariable means a profile of you could be gotten online. According to reports, if the proposal pulls through, immigrants and foreign travelers coming into the US will be asked provide details of their social media handle. According to the proposal, one of such question a traveler will be asked on arrival and departure forms would be “social media identifier,” though password is not inclusive. The essence of asking for the social media details is to confirm information provided. The proposal stated that “Collecting social media data will enhance the existing investigative process and provide the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) greater clarity and visibility to possible nefarious activity and connections by providing an additional tool set which analysts and investigators may use to better analyze and investigate the case.” The government of United States is looking at social media as a reliable means of getting details of individuals and said the social media platform has been a veritable tool for the spread and recruitment of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. The proposed change was published and made available to the public to comment on the issue within 60 days.
