jikins: Quick questions.
How many people can read and write in their native languages?
How is the lack of native programming languages making things very expensive? Majority of the people including me can't even read or write FLUENTLY in their native tongues. Majority of digital solutions are foreign, making it expensive due to the strenght of their currencies like dollar, pound and euro. But if we program our's in native tongue or even patronise cheaper currencies, then it will be more affordable in the longterm and for rural development which is where our agricultural produce come from. I want to buy softwares/apps to do my project, but checking the exchange rate, it is scaring clients away. If not for open source programs, man go don kpeme. |

Programming › We Should Start Writing Programs In Our Indigenous Languages ? by digitite(op): 8:48am On Jan 06, 2022 |
My living in a remote area for 5months shows that we need to program our websites, applications and softwares, infact all technical materials in native languages and make them multi-lingual to move on with the Digital world. Lack of it is making things very expensive. Because of this, I will undertake a program in Technical Translation. |

I suppose what you want to build is already done by WAEC on their website. Are you trying to reinvent the wheel ? Talking about API, there are different types, Public, Private, Partner and Composite. If you can't find API documentation on the organisation website, then they don't want you to be part of it. Unless you come private, which cost alot of money. Or partner with them to share profit. Or combine both. |

Agbegbaorogboye: You are just jumping around. Seeing that you've fluffed the technical aspect of telecoms services spectacularly, you're now going towards adminstration. FYI, there's no connection between telcos expanding coverage and the responsibility of govt to conduct elections. Govt can decide to conduct electronic transmission without using Telco infrastructure. There are multiple alternatives. I expect you should know this if you claim to be an IT expert. There were no telcos in the 90s yet we had cybercafes. A lot of people have mentioned satellite on this thread. That aside, you've not shown any cogent knowledge of telecoms in this conversation. You've just been making wild claims. That's what I've been waiting for from you. Show that you really know what telecoms entails. If you do, you will even realise that 4G coverage is even higher than 3G at the moment due to possibilities of merging it with 2G technology. But like I said, you're ignorant of the subject and it's showing. The thread says 'Electronic transmission of result DOUBTFUL! We have gotten to the stage whereby INTERNET has become a necessity. Softwares have gone from native environment to the cloud where internet network is essential. The satelite technology gives hope but do they have the political will to implement it ? You may have good intention and understand how networking works but not sharing govt sentiments does not make one ignorant. I will follow the subject closely and time will tell. |

luizpippo: I should just visit one of the 301 LGAs, can we have a list of them so I can visit some.
If, at this point you are not talking about some communities in a few LGAs but the whole LGA and 301 at that, then I won't be surprised you are working in cahoot with those who do not want anything to do with electronic transmission of results.
If Buhari and this his crew had said, let's put a stop to electronic voting because some communities had no power to charge the batteries, there are a thousand and one of your likes that would bring up fantasy stories of how they have traveled the world and it is truly not feasible. If Buhari can't get the economy right, he can't get technology right. Keep feeding on pipe dreams. Thats why when your leaders travel, they don't learn anything from better nations. |
Politics › Re: Electronic Transmission Of Results Doubtful, 301 LGAs Lack Internet Facility by digitite: 12:20pm On Dec 31, 2021 |
Agbegbaorogboye: Are we still talking about the same thing here? What's the business of govt with 3G deployment and coverage? That's why I said you're largely ignorant of the subject. Deployment of telecoms infrastructure is the responsibility of the telcos not govt. Govt only allocates frequency from available spectrum. Even the spectral optimisation is done by telcos in conjunction with their technical partners. So blaming 3G coverage on govt bureaucracy is crass ignorance! Telcos go to where they can make money. It is the responsibility of the govt to make sure there is adequate services for the election. That's why i hate the political section full of immature thugs who just sit as arm chair theorist who wont visit to get first hand experience. |

Agbegbaorogboye: You don't know who you're chatting with. If you do you won't be making wild claims. What does IT project in Abuja have to do with 3G coverage? Where you provisioning bandwidth or allocating frequency from the available spectrum? Tell me what exactly you did that exposed you to the knowledge of 3G coverage and requirement for data transmission by inec? Bureaucracy in Abuja - where most of the problem comes from - does not encourage uniformity nationally. The equipment we brought to build better service cannot be paid for by them. And my approach to technology is centric and not based on a so called parastatal called Inec that can't meet up to International standard. It's only the private sector that can atleast do something. what bogus claims ? I am building partnerships with private firms and not incompetent government. If I wanna do that, I travel back to my base, where digitilization work. |
