Go into programming languages needed to develop API. Like Javascript, PHP, Python. Also pick up on SQL.

But what comes natural to you will depend on what will pay you well in the long run.

Totally agree. But a lot of businesses a moving away from Desktop Excel to Cloud Excel. I spent 15 mins trying to craft a very nifty INDEX/MATCH function this week. A colleague hammered out a solution in 2 mins using FILTER. Learn Excel yes, but stay abreast of the very current trends. I was feeling like a Jackie Chan using INDEX/MATCH only to be told that there’s now XLOOKUP that can LOOKUP forward and backwards

Very cool. The moment you progress to Python, R and SQL, you will work on realtime solution and Excel would seem absolete to you. And you will come to regret why you wasted your time learning it. Just that it gives you a solid foundation.

I love Logistics. That makes me concentrate on the methodology , algorithm, programming technique and solutions.

Very cool. I will advice you to learn excel extensively and all its syntaxes.

A lot of companies applications / softwares still prefer's to use Excel format.

You must have some knowledge of programming to earn tangible income with your phone.

Based on my research. Start with python ( Good in calculations ), PHP ( Web Applications ). Javascript ( Interactivity ; also good for API integrations ). HTML and CSS ( Building blocks of front end ) are very easy. While SQL is for Database.

Since the Cloud Infrastructure is dominating. Always work with Libraries and frameworks compatible with modern systems and works with traditional systems as well. Make it Hybrid. For example, make your programs be accessible to all versions of the Operating System.

All in all, choose a sector and specialise in, e.g Health, Education, etc. It will make you a professional sooner than later. While experience makes you an expert.

Days are gone when you need expensive laptops or desktop PC's to learn programming or even develop a solution.

You can now write and run your codes on a cloud browser.

Also the type of Laptops you would need depend on the kind of programs you are developing. A graphic intensive app like games , etc or multimedia app requires much computing power than text based calculators....

All in all, the RAM and Processor is the most important in this case. All other tools you need are hosted on the Server.
